For Sammy it was clear that this team was not going to pay him the $15M per year contract that he would demand for the production from him. If he were retained for this year, he would have walked. We have a 2nd round pick for him that could turn into a player for the next four years. The balance was heavily favored towards the getting the pick. Dareus was the easy one...He had conditioning problems and was penciled as the Starter here. He couldn't break into the starting line up. How do you pay him $100M to be backup. The JAX were leaking against the run and were desperate and had the cash...so they made the deal. They are not on the hook for anything for Dareus and could cut him this offseason...For them the risk to rewards was pretty high and hence they chose the trade. If Dareus could have a great training camp and push to be the starter, then it may come back to impact them on their salary cap. The case Darby was the hard one to understand. There must have been something going on inside that build that we are not privy.

And the Pat's defense is weak.

Having 3 QBs competing in training camp NEVER works....The TC is to have the team gel as one and play as 11 on the field....Having a 3-headed competition at the most important position is a huge distraction and whoever comes out of that simply outran the other two mediocre....we will be left be a average to below average QB

The Chicago Bulls in the 90's countered Patrick Ewing and the Knicks by having three Centers in their rotation and have each them foul Ewing 5 times (They got 15 fouls from that position) and they kept upsetting the rhythm of Ewing. Warner was a SB winning QB with the Rams and then was a back up with the Giants...and then again competed at the Cardinals and was a feet-outbound from winning a Super Bowl with them.

We don't have good depth. I don't know if Glenn will come back from his injury. Incognito may be gone if the racial slur is proved. Wood is, as you wrote, average right now. We need a dominating center that can preserve the pocket for the QB. Our OL definitely requires work.
