WHy? If they were able to do it this year with better schemes and better coaching, why wouldn't they be able to do it again next year. They have the draft ammunition and the cap space.

The reason they could have done well at Jets (even though they finished 6-10 and fired) is that they had the right personnel to run their scheme. On the BIlls, they had a defense that was ranked 4th but played exclusively 4-3. They tinkered that defense, sent Kiko to Philadelphia and put Preston Brown instead. Just like how average players don't adapt well to a new scheme, average coaches have no ability to adapt their schemes to the personnel.

I guess their standards of excellence are higher than just mediocrity

McDermott has a critical off season where he has to make tough calls on : - Coaching Staff - QB - Retaining Mathews, Benjamin, Clay on Offense (and now may be Incognito) - Retaining Brown, Williams on Defense And he has to get all of them right as the margin of error is pretty slim.
