  1. Well if you don't agree with one bad argument don't you necessarily agree with the opposite of that bad argument? Its TBD logic 101.
  2. Russel was a third round pick. Attempted the fewest passes among starting QBs over the last three seasons. Tate's career took off when he landed with Stafford who no one considers elite. Who was holding who back? Who really "blossomed"? How can you fail to see how easy it is to use the same logic and set of facts to attack your position? Its easier to see things objectively when you aren't emotionally invested in the outcome.
  3. Yes, why wouldn't we count Golden Tate as a good receiver and why would include just one of the two seasons that Russel played with Tate? How is that a question?
  4. Unless you want to count the really good target he had whose career took off once he landed with Stafford and left behind that elite QB play.
  5. So LABillz is Eichel's dad and he just decided to sit on that bit of news until today?
  6. Agreed. In all major sports. Hockey needs suspensions for diving as does basketball. Fines will not get the job done.
  7. Or at the very least some consistency rather than a system which spots the ball based on judgement for 95% of the game and then reviews plays for 5 minutes to determine to the inch between 1st down and 4th down the other 5% (even though the preceding spots were all left up to judgement). A set of rules which doesn't care how long the clock runs for 56 minutes but then will review the replay to spot the timeout signal to reset the clock within tenths of a second strikes me as just odd.
  8. Or the fact that we are now 30% done with the season and we have no real idea what direction the show is headed in. I'm enjoying it, but things are going to have to move pretty quickly soon for all of these story lines to converge and eventually wrap up.
  9. But we do know that RW already is that type of passer by virtue of the fact that he just isn't asked to do it. If he were asked to do it, he'd do it. Where have you been for the past 10 pages?
  10. That is exactly what I was thinking. What did they think they were going to get from Harbs?
  11. I still can't believe they gave away the last WC in that fashion. Japan never gave up to their credit, but the US snatched defeat from the jaws of victory that day. Even against the rich tapestry of disappointing and inexplicable outcomes that is my sport viewing history, that game manages to stand out. Its a testament.
  12. http://www.nytimes.com/2012/10/11/opinion/the-cost-of-protecting-greeces-public-sector.html?_r=0 http://www.wsj.com/articles/greece-struggles-to-get-citizens-to-pay-their-taxes-1424867495 its no mystery why Greece is eating ****.
  13. Its pretty big, cavernous, and the acoustics suck. Parking can be a pain. I think you're best served looking for street parking on Railroad Street since the nearby lots are near impossible to get out of after any show. Main St. will be a total cluster f@#$ so, Railroad is good since you can loop around to Goodman and avoid passing Main @ the Armory.
  14. It is clear. Clearly f@#$ing insane. This is the first documented instance where a comparison to Peyton Manning was used as a criticism. You have a list of guys like Flacco, Ryan, and Roethlisberger who failed to advance as far in the playoffs as Luck or even make it to post season play and your criticism is that Luck is a young Peyton Manning (a first ballot hall of famer) who lost in the AFC Championship game and thats a bad thing.
  15. Interesting. Do share.
  16. The only man that ever bested dog in a battle of wits.
  17. What they really need is to actually collect taxes, reign in public sector pay, slash existing entitlements, and then prosecute about every public official who held office over the last 20 years (at least) for massive corruption.
  18. Which is exactly why I wouldn't want to start a team centered around him.
  19. Basically. I don't what you're arguing with that last post. Is it: 1. That Russel Wilson is elite? 2. That RW will get paid top dollar? 3. Did you just want to segue to Dilfer and McMahon and get a head start on utter madness? Either way, I'm having trouble reconciling your respective positions. You posit RW is elite but the Squawks' philosophy doesn't emphasize the passing game otherwise we might see that elite level production. So why would they pay top dollar for something that they don't intend to fully use? If I'm GM, I am not going to pay someone like Aaron Rodgers if the plan is to use that player more like Alex Smiff. Especially when paying a QB a max contract basically prevents me from sticking to the philosophy and assembling/retaining a "smothering defense" and top run game. Furthermore, if I'm GM and I've got an elite QB on the roster and my coach insists on using him more like Alex Smiff, I'm probably looking for new coaches and coordinators. I don't think the above jives well. I think its far more likely that Wilson is NOT an elite QB at this stage in his development which is why he isn't used as much as any other starting QB in the NFL. I think its highly UN-likely that any franchise with an elite QB would choose not to exploit that players talents in interest of adhering to a dogmatic offensive philosophy. I think Russel is a solid player and will ultimately get paid near top dollar but with a team friendly structure. I believe that he will get paid handsomely NOT because hes an elite QB but because he is young and still may grow into a premier passer and also due to the implicit cost (as measured financially and in wins) to replace a scarce commodity is just too high. Plus its basically career suicide for an exec to let him walk after a super bowl (he isn't Dilfer, after all) unless you've got a future hall of famer waiting to replace him. This set of statements strikes me as far more cohesive and plausible.
  20. I don't think he will get the richest contract either unless its a marvel of team friendly engineering and richest only at first glance. It really doesn't make any sense to pay the kid top $$ if the team's dogmatic offensive philosophy dictates that the they won't use their franchise QB to his full potential.
  21. It matters a little bit when you're predicting that he'll sign the richest contract in football history.
  22. I had no idea the two sides were so close. I guess the media chatter and predictions that RW will be playing for another team next year is all just posturing for contract negotiation purposes? If so, its being handled strikingly different than when other franchise QB's contracts have reached maturity.
