I don't see how objecting to your curious framing of events translates to absolving Johnson of all wrong doing, but your ability to comprehend grows increasingly suspect with each passing post. Russel was a third round pick. Attempted the fewest passes among starting QBs over the last three seasons. Tate's career took off when he landed with Stafford who no one considers elite. Who was holding who back? Who really "blossomed"? How can you fail to see how easy it is to use the same logic and set of facts to attack your position? Its easier to see things objectively when you aren't emotionally invested in the outcome.

Agreed. In all major sports. Hockey needs suspensions for diving as does basketball. Fines will not get the job done.

Or at the very least some consistency rather than a system which spots the ball based on judgement for 95% of the game and then reviews plays for 5 minutes to determine to the inch between 1st down and 4th down the other 5% (even though the preceding spots were all left up to judgement). A set of rules which doesn't care how long the clock runs for 56 minutes but then will review the replay to spot the timeout signal to reset the clock within tenths of a second strikes me as just odd.

Or the fact that we are now 30% done with the season and we have no real idea what direction the show is headed in. I'm enjoying it, but things are going to have to move pretty quickly soon for all of these story lines to converge and eventually wrap up.

I still can't believe they gave away the last WC in that fashion. Japan never gave up to their credit, but the US snatched defeat from the jaws of victory that day. Even against the rich tapestry of disappointing and inexplicable outcomes that is my sport viewing history, that game manages to stand out. Its a testament.
