Florio has lost his mind with tweet about Taylor/Kap
Jauronimo replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'm not convinced that the Roman connection is even accurate. Kaep is Harbaugh's guy. I haven't read anything that gave me the impression that Roman and Kaep have much of a relationship. -
Jealousy, if I've ever seen it.

Last NFL Player With Whom to Be Stuck in an Elevator
Jauronimo replied to Gugny's topic in Off the Wall Archives
Leodis and Whitner. I don't think Leo would find my references to his lawn being defaced nearly as funny as I do. Nor do I think he'd be amused by wish to see him compete with other deep thinkers in a spelling bee. Whitner has very thin skin so I can't imagine he'd appreciate word play which compares him to ze Fuhrer, and I really don't think he'd agree with my opinion that he be ground into meat to feed the players that are worth a damn. -
I guess somebody has to be that guy, so.... I like Myers work more. I'll take the few years where he did Wayne's World, So I Married An Axe Murdered, the first Austin Powers over Martin's whole body of work. Planes, Trains and Automobiles is the only Martin movie that I like, and John Candy carries that movie. I will never understand the appeal of Three Amigos or The Jerk. Sure, Myers is to blame for Austin Powers 3 and the Love Guru, but Steve made 15 movies with Queen Latifah so I call it a wash in the unforgivable crap department.

Philly reporter takes shots at Buffalo
Jauronimo replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The most offensive part of the article is its utter lack of anything even resembling humor or originality. Its such a safe joke. Its been done hundreds of times. Theres no outrage or uproar. We can basically count on a handful of these articles every offseason. If you're going rehash the tired narrative that no one wants to play in Buffalo, bring a new angle. At the very least, be funny. I can't wait for next week's article about how Nickleback sucks or millenials are whiners. Real cutting edge material. So edgy. -

They should shorten NFL games.

Innings are stupid. The cricket model is best. One team plays offense for three days and then the other team plays offense for three days and the highest score at the end of a fortnight wins the match. Now the classic format may be ill suited to American football but if it were condensed into four 15 minute periods then it just might work. -

Chris Hogan visiting Patriots-Signs $12M offer sheet

Brady only throws to Edelman, Gronk, and whichever RB is in the game that week. Amendola has been largely invisible in that offense. Dobson, Kenbrell Thompkins, Wright, Chandler, were invisible in that offense. I like Hogan, I just don't expect him to develop the chemistry with Brady that will lead to significant targets. First time he drops a ball or tries to cut back for more yards and falls short of the sticks on 3rd down and its over for him. -
PTR is having his own conversation. It seems to be going well too. I had wings at Buffalo Wild Wings not long ago because I'm a moron and was starving. I'd never been there but I figured if 100 Texans were shoving these things down their gullets in a city where theres plenty of great eats, how bad could these things be? Four of the 10 or how ever many come in a Large had little feathers stuck to them. Didn't touch them. The others I did consume, to my shame. Best $33 I ever spent.

Dude had torn ligaments in his wrist. He had to do everything lefty which clearly was leaving him frustrated and dissatisfied. At the line, he just couldn't get off. You could tell he hadn't gotten a clean release in weeks. That would make anyone nervous, jittery, and prone to drops. -
Mario to sign with Miami? [UPDATE: Signed]
Jauronimo replied to boater's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I do recall some of that. They said he was quiet, didn't like the media or attention. It didn't seem overly concerning at the time. Not every star player needs to be a leader in my opinion. Especially when we had FJ and KW to cement that locker room. In the context of what happened last year, yes, it paints a clearer picture. Good player. Had the potential to be a great player. Sh@#%y teammate. -

It wasn't bizarre when it was Corey Dillon, Deion Branch, Givens, Faulk, and Troy Brown. Perhaps white skill players are undervalued in the market place? Maybe they aren't scouted as heavily, or can be had with lower draft picks, for lower salaries. Teams asked Gerhardt some racially charged questions leading up to his draft. Toby isn't even his real name. That was a name given to him by his coach in highschool. His real name is Qwijibo. -
Mario to sign with Miami? [UPDATE: Signed]
Jauronimo replied to boater's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I didn't. Nor have I seen anyone link to these themes recently. I have seen many people push the narrative that he quit on his team in Houston because he only had 5 sacks his last year there. I've heard they couldn't wait to get rid of him. Its not true, but I've seen it posted many times. -

Neat. Irrelevant and rambling, but nice anecdotes. Not sure why you think the above is news to me. Equally unsure as to what this has to do with my point regarding passing judgment on a man's motivations and career aspirations. -

Jauronimo replied to boater's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
There's a very clear value judgment that you're making. Deny it if you wish (and admit it 3 sentences later), but its evident. You believe that Mario should care more about jewelry than cash. Else there would be nothing to judge. I don't tell the McD's worker that he should be concerned with elevating fried potatoes, nor do I criticize lawyers for going into corporate law rather than working for the Innocence Project, or beat myself up for not striving for transformative change in the financial services industry (whatever that would look like). I also don't bash athletes for looking out for themselves. Consistency is a beautiful thing. -

Jauronimo replied to boater's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'm not. You are telling me what Mario should care about. What should motivate him and other players. Furthermore, you're opining on how much money a person can make before their priorities should shift. I make no such representations. I am not judging men for taking a paycheck. -
Mario to sign with Miami? [UPDATE: Signed]
Jauronimo replied to boater's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
No, they aren't. There are differences between any profession, but at its core professional sports are a business. You're biased. You think athletes should be focused on team achievement and legacy. Maybe you think Hollywood stars should only be focused on making films which shape society and bring home Oscars. At the end of the day, some may be concerned with legacy, but most are making a living. I bet you get that concept when applied to the second stringers. If a Garrison Sanborn signs with the Jags for a million more a year than we're offering, we don't question why he didn't take a pay cut to team up with Ryan Allen and the Pats to bring home a ring. Stars players are people too. You can hold them to a higher standard than yourself and tell them about what should matter to them and where their priorities should be but it won't change the reality of the business. If it was only about the hardware and the glory we wouldn't have to pay these guys to bust their heads on Sundays. -

At least in PPP we can use the full extent of the English language to let the yahoos know just where they stand on a Darwin chart and how much disdain you have for their opinion. -
Mario to sign with Miami? [UPDATE: Signed]
Jauronimo replied to boater's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Agreed. Well if he's not getting calls from winning programs should he sign with some scrub for the lowest he can get? I'm confused by this concept. I get that as fans we value players who put the team first and play for the uniform. Our interests are not directly aligned with the players. Its hard to accept, apparently, but football is Mario's job. I do my job for top dollar. I'm not taking a pay cut to go work for the top firm in my field unless I think its more profitable long term. I'm not taking a pay cut to help my firm compete on price with our competitors. I'm 100% self interested when it comes to my profession. I do not hold football players to a higher standard than I hold myself.
