  1. Palmer wastes no time breaking his cherry - INT.
  2. Moorman looks as bad as I have ever seen him. He has kicked 4 times and hasn't hit one further than 37 yards yet (and he is NOT dealing with a short field). Ouch
  3. I agree, just pointing out the reasoning behind playing him. The just reported him officially out for the remainder of the game.
  4. Trying to develop some chemistry with EJ.
  5. Lions have their 1st string Defense in FWIW.
  6. More exciting does not mean beneficial.
  7. Hah, I have no idea, but I predict he will lose it in one of these pressers before the season is over. I'm talking atom-bomb explosion full-on snap that gets him nominated for an ESPY or something.
  8. He throws 1 good ball in that outing, and it was a dangerous throw across his body. Oh and here's Marrone's presser, he says he had no idea that Palmer ever taught a QB coaching camp or that he worked with EJ or Bortles. http://www.buffalobi...93-1301067af175
  9. I agree that Bradshaw was overrated. I've just explained to you why the comparison isn't valid. Kelly was 6th in the NFL in passing yards. 8th in passer rating. He was considered for the Pro Bowl. EJ would have been 21st in yards, and farther down the list in rating. If you want to say Kelly wasn't a rookie because of his USFL stint, then I don't know what to tell you. I have no idea why you brought Wilson into the argument? I saw Kelly throw live in 86, there really was no comparison to EJ. Honestly, it's silly to even argue it. I'll bow out and let you get the last word in, I shouldn't have started a back-and-forth on this!
  10. The lack a throwing TD's made the gap much narrower. Terry Bradshaw only threw 2 more TDs than INTs over a 14 year career.
  11. ^^ Also I'll throw this in: Kelly threw for 3,593 yards in his first NFL season, that was good for 6th in the league. If EJ stayed healthy (a big if) he was on a pace to throw for 3,155 yards, that would be 21st in today's game. Does that stat sufficiently highlight the difference between eras? And the difference between QBs?
  12. You don't know what people expected?? How about shoring up the position through the draft or free agency before training camp. Signing a backup QB 2 weeks before the season reeks of incompetence.
  13. That is complete BS. You are acting outraged because you don't fully understand the complete financial picture, and now you are making things up. The Saints had $2.4M in cap space. Did that prevent them from handing Byrd a $56M contract? Did it stop them from following that up with Graham's $40M contract? Boy, that $13M in dead money they have really hamstrung them. Again, it didn't impact our offseason FA acquisitions, ~90% of our dead money is gone after this season. Finally, there is no pattern here in regards to dead money (Yes, I know someone will make a snarky comment about 14 years). Our dead money figure for 2015 is $1.6M. There's a lot of issues to get yourself worked up over, this isn't one of them.
  14. No surprises. I don't think we'll see any big surprise cuts this season actually.
  15. There's a lot of people in this thread who don't understand what dead money is. This isn't $23M that we would have spent on players this year. It was created by 2 players - Fitz and Stevie, and it goes away next year.
  16. It would be pretty difficult. The Patriots are fighting tooth and nail to block payment of Hernandez's remaining signing bonus, and that's a much more severe case. The NFLPA is vehemently against these attempts - they don't want to start a precedent of teams suing to recoup "guaranteed" money. This issue I have is not the amount, but the timing of the deal. Looking back, there was no immediate need to resign him at the end of December. His place on the field became an immediate question mark as soon as Pettine left, and if Whaley had waited until the NFL season ended, he could have better assessed the situation. Maybe that's hindsight though, but I don't think there was that much urgency to sign a situational lineman. Look for him to sign with the Jets/Browns/Saints on a 1yr prove-it deal after this arrest.
  17. Fair enough. But you chose to quote me and that rant sounded silly. My original point was if you want to pick an example of a QB that matured and developed over time, Bradford is a bad example. He was a slightly above-avg QB the first time he stepped onto the field, and he is still pretty much that same QB today. There has been little improvement in his 4 years. We need EJ to take a much, much bigger leap. And he's going to get this season to make it - I'm still highly skeptical but I also know he's the starter this year.
  18. So according to you, we have to give EJ a minimum of 5 years, also we have to build him an offensive line equivalent to the Washington Redskins "Hogs" of the 80's. Until we do that, we'll just never know, right??? See, I can play the hyperbole and strawman argument game too. That's how utterly ridiculous you sound.
  19. So an advocate of waiting for QB's to develop is pointing to Sam Bradford as an example? That is pretty funny.
  20. I thought you were going to end that story by saying you wound up getting drunk in a bar and completely missed the game. I was jealous for a minute.
  21. Going to be very interesting to see who they go after.
  22. I thought the renovation was pretty nice. I hope they decide to take the ads off the scoreboards and use the full screen size for replays. I never really had a problem with the old gates and I didn't go to the store so it looked mostly like a new paint job to me. It's exactly what I expected - a Band-aid to get us through the next 7/10 years. If you were expecting anything more, you were mislead.
  23. I thought Corbin Bryant played very well starting in place of Kyle.
  24. This is why Byrd wanted out of town so bad.
