  1. I don't see any way he can be in game form. He may even be a liability in coverage at this stage.
  2. Always defer!
  3. Here's my post on him from back in March. I'm a big fan of his play but was not happy to see him sign in NE. http://forums.twobil...20#entry3080994
  4. Look, the entire offense -- plays, calls, checks, is designed for EJ Manuel. You can'r reconstruct and tailor-fit the entire game plan to a new QB in 4 days of practice. The offense will open up under Orton but it will be a gradual process. Yes, I know it is painful to watch CJ slam into Suh over and over but give the Lions some credit. They are ranked as the #1 defense for a reason, and their DL is at the top of the league.
  5. That was the worst game I've ever seen Spiller play. Not only did he average 0.8 yards per carry, but he completely whiffed on a block that almost got our QB killed and could have easily been a safety or fumble/TD even.
  6. It's beyond idiotic and I'm glad they got their karma back quick via 3 missed FGs.
  7. Last week Detroit's best player was hurt and only used as a decoy. He still may not play this week. Calvin Johnson's status in doubt That is HUGE.
  8. Brief clips from yesterday's practice Get ready for the best pump fake in the NFL!
  9. Important to keep that in mind. He didn't get any help from Murray either, who rushed 17 times for only 48 yards -- that's 2.8 yards per carry. Philly held the entire Dallas team to 56 yards rushing and forced Orton to put it up 46 times. Obviously, we don't want that either. I've added the boxscore to the original post so you can see the stats. Witten caught 12 balls, Dez caught 8. I love our chances this season with Orton, however I am pretty bearish on the Detroit game. It's not just Fairley, Suh, and Ansah, it's the crowd noise that has me worried. With the limited time Orton has spent with our wideouts, I can see at least 1 INT due to QB/WR miscommunication on an audible. At least 1.
  10. I've come to realize there are a lot of people speculating about Orton that obviosuly haven't ever seen him play. Here's a 6 minute video of all his throws in his last game. It was last year's final week 17 game against Philly with the season on the line (the winner advanced to the playoffs). This was his only start of the year. As you can see he has excellent footwork, is very decisive, and has a quick release. He has lapses in accuracy which has lead to some Fitzpatrick-like INTs, one of which you will see to end the game. Since he was "thrown" into this game after spending the season as a backup, there is a lot of conservative underneath passing -- a gameplan we will probably see this Sunday. Orton 30/46 358yds 2TD 2INT Kyle Orton vs Philadelphia Eagles Boxscore Edit: fixed link, added boxscore
  11. The yips? In Houston he threw like he had Ebola.
  12. Here, I cropped that epic pic for your avatar.
  13. Yeah his decisiveness looks incredible. Everything he does just looks quick. God, that video is so depressing.
  14. Orton is a hard-drinking man. There are more pictures of him with a bottle of Jack in his hand than a football. I can't say for certain if he will fit in with the offense, but he is a perfect match for this town drinking wise.
  15. My theory (just a hunch) is that they don't want him to get hurt, so once every 2 weeks they let him run and slide for 7 yards to keep the defense honest. It isn't working -- I'm not buying it and the opposing defense certainly isn't buying it either. His running doesn't strike fear into a defense like Kaepernick, who has to be accounted for every play or he could take it to the house.
  16. Also JW makes a great point on how the read option doesn't fool anyone if the QB never runs with the ball.
  17. The throw to Woods at 3:42 in the 2nd quarter. He just rushed the throw, and also threw it behind Woods to his back shoulder. We were up 10-0, ball at the HOU 47, 3rd and 4, HOU with 2 timeouts left. If he makes that throw for a 1st down we are going to run the clock down inside 2 minutes. We would be on the edge of FG range as well. Also, most importantly, it would be very difficult for Houston to march down the field and score a TD. We could have went into the locker room up 13-0, but that one throw allowed them back into it and at the half it was 10-7. Ugh.
  18. Agreed, although Suh/Fairly/Ansah are no joke either. That dome crowd is pretty rough as well. This will also be the first time since the 2012 season that a veteran QB has taken a snap for the Bills. Yeah, it's been that long. 3 rookies playing QB can make any line look terrible.
  19. Ok, I can agree that your accuracy will improve after throwing 5,000 balls into a bucket. But how much will it improve between making 20,000 to 25,000 throws? Probably not much. You're going to reach a ceiling eventually, and it's not like EJ just picked up a ball yesterday. Common sense indeed. QB's don't come to the NFL to learn how to throw. The development of a NFL QB involves learning schemes, playing under center, picking up blitzes, reading defenses, advanced progressions, etc. There are numerous examples from the last 3 games where EJ has correctly read the defense, found the open man, and with a clean pocket and room to throw he has misfired again and again. It's not the OL and it's not Hackett. The problem is #3, and it always has been.
  20. I was, and after 14 years this team needs to make the playoffs. Doesn't matter if they make it at 9-7 or 13-3 at this point. What you're suggesting is insane.
  21. Aside from QB, nothing has changed. What was the consensus at the start of the season? All we needed was for EJ to play adequately and we would have a decent shot at the playoffs. I heard that a lot. Well EJ didn't play well at all. In fact, he was like a boat anchor to the entire offense, dragging the entire team down. The Dolphins and Jets don't scare anyone. And although the Pats are nowhere near as bad as they looked against the Chiefs, they are hardly the juggernaut of the past. We just need average play out of our QB's. With an average QB we would be 3-1 right now. This division is ripe for the taking, and we are atop the standings right now. I think we have a very good shot at it, and I'm more confident today than I was at the start of the season.
  22. Seriously. We didn't pay the 14th ranked guard in the league $48M and it people acted like we lost a Hall of Famer. I would laugh, but our replacement plan has been a comedy of errors.
