  1. That was an ugly game.
  2. I never heard that.
  3. OBD has not said anything about this. No QB and no 1st round pick says you're right. Then again, Pegula's checkbook could be the equalizer in all this.
  4. I don't know of any history, just speculation that Shanahan might want more control over the D than Schwartz is comfortable with. I agree with you on the Gibbs disciples -- there's around 10 teams in the league running some form of their scheme today. The scheme Chan ran for his 3 years here was very similar, and 4 of the 5 starting lineman we have on the roster performed well in it. I have no doubts in my mind that Wood and Glenn would excel in it, and it appears we may have to bring in a new guard or 2 anyways. Players like Henderson, Kujo and Chris Williams would be the unknowns.
  5. If you are looking for someone to come in and fix the OL, Shanahan would probably be the best candidate. I'm a huge admirer of the zone blocking schemes he developed with Alex Gibbs in Denver, they truly were revolutionary. Some might question if our OL has the agility to run that scheme, but I don't see that as a problem because It looks like the line will be revamped anyways, at least the guards. I'm not sure he could co-exist with Schwarfz, and that would be a deal-breaker (for me at least).
  6. Sabres lose, Carolina wins, and Edmonton ties!
  7. Sam Bradford has been in the league 5 years and only finished a season twice. He tore his left ACL in week 7 of the 2013 season and was done for the year. He tried to come back this year but he couldn't even make it out of the preseason before tearing the same ACL again. Two tears of the same ACL less than a year apart is a nightmare. I admire him for attempting another comeback but his injury concerns probably mean he will be a backup somewhere. I can't see any head coach staking his season(s) on Bradford at this point. For those wondering, this is the hit that knocked him out in the preseason this year. It's not exactly L.T. hitting Theismann. How long do you think he would last behind our line?
  8. He left the Denver Broncos in a dumpster fire state when he was canned. It's amazing that working with a HOF QB like Brady for 4 years can wash that out of people's minds.
  9. How about the OC from Buffalo?
  10. I read that Bill Cowher owns a multi-million dollar apartment that overlooks Central Park, and he's often seen around town attending events with models on his arm. I don't think he's coming to Buffalo.
  11. Actually I would say the Bills are probably the worst coaching destination this year. No QB and no #1 pick are huge factors, and Buffalo is typically a tough sell for free agents (compared to NYC, Chicago, San Fran & Atlanta). When you factor in the unknown of new ownership and possible churn in some upper level front office positions, it raises even more questions. We're probably closer to 6-10 than we are to the playoffs. Then again, if Pegula writes a big enough check none of that really matters. Anyhow, to stay on topic -- NO to Nick Saban.
  12. Broncos OC Adam Gase will be a no-brainer choice for head coach
  13. If Da'Rick Rogers catches a pass in 2018 I expect to see a thread on it.
  14. That would be a good name for a tavern. I had a detailed post about why I thought Polian would be hired on Mon, Feb 2nd. I think that's out the door now. Any high-level turnover needs to happen quickly -- we can't wait a month to start interviewing coaches.
  15. Heh, you've been registered for over a year and a half and that's a good first post. Welcome to TBD. And yes, I've had more than a few.
  16. Hackett deserves a chance to interview for the HC spot.
  17. Edmonton just beat the Stanley Cup champs!
  18. I read an article (or maybe it was a tweet) that said Polian knows he would still be eligible, but is concerned that it may influence his vote. He needs 80% of the vote to be enshrined, and if it's perceived that he is returning to the NFL, some voters might abstain and wait to see his full body of work when he retires "for certain." Obviously getting into the Hall Of Fame is the highest honor you can receive, and I would completely understand if he didn't want to upset the apple cart on his chance at NFL immortality. Don't wear out the F5 key just yet. February 2nd is most likely the Magic Monday (guessing). Keep in mind he never told the Buffalo News he wasn't coming to Buffalo, he only said is isn't going to be there Monday and that he will be with ESPN for weeks. If you still haven't heard it, listen to his answer on Sirius radio. All he had to do was say "NO," but instead he gave an unconvincing 30+ second song and dance. A few other thoughts and speculations - I don't think for a second he would be coming here to replace Whaley as GM. My guess would be as an advisory or to possibly (hopefully) take over Brandon's job as Team President. I think all of us would agree that Brandon should be kept away from football operations. And for those that think this is far-fetched, remember LaFontaine and Nolan. When that rumor surfaced it was far more ridiculous than this scenario, especially considering the NHL season was just getting underway. I nearly drove off the road when they announced that both of them were returning. Not only is this scenario plausible, but it fits Pegula's past MO of bringing back local heroes. Or, maybe it really is just wishful thinking.
  19. Actually, Tom Brady Is Getting Another Raise
  20. Monday, February 2nd - two days after his HOF vote would be the logical guess. Polian takes over as President and Brandon shifts to marketing for the entire One Buffalo operation, leaving Polian -> Whaley -> Marrone running the show. LaConfora just tweeted that his son Chris would not be going with him, and that made me smile. ‏@JasonLaCanfora - Continue to hear very strong possibility Bill Polian takes some sort of football czar role w/Bills. His son Chris would not be going w/him
  21. The analytics department hasn't taught Marrone how to multi-text yet.
  22. I wouldn't use that video to showcase him. So many wide open receivers and so much time to throw.
  23. There's going to be soooooo many threads on terrible QBs over the next 4 months.
  24. I was firmly in the camp of "Why does this thread still exist?" But after hearing that, I would say there's a very good chance he's coming here in some capacity. Good Lord, all he had to do was give a simple 1-word answer -- "No." It looks like those who were speculating he won't commit until after the Jan 31, 2015 HOF vote may be right. It certainly fits with Pegula's style of going back to old school heroes ala LaFontaine. It will be a popular move for sure, but not convinced it is the right one.
  25. I'm scared they are going to get desperate and do something crazy to get Cutler.
