Because it's essentially slander around these parts, I'll refrain from mentioning my (growing) list of instances where Brandon was heavily involved in major football decisions.... But I will say this: Selfishly, you should all want him gone and here's why... 1. We are already die-hard Bills fans. Any "he's a great marketing guy" arguments should be thrown right out the window because it doesn't apply to you. You're already hooked on the smack. There's no singular decision, marketing-wise, that could be made to remove you as a fan. Trust me, he already moved a game to Toronto for Christ's sake and we took it like the scorned house wives that we are. 2. Any input is still influencing decisions. Even if you don't believe he was a driving force behind many of our big decisions (I don't actually believe he's telling Whaley they need to trade up for Watkins or anything like that), his input as one of the top 4 guys making cuts for example, still means his opinion is valued. It shouldn't be. He's no more qualified on the football scouting side than any of us. He should be fired for no reason other than it's absurd that someone so unqualified could have such an influence on our team's decisions. 3. He's never going to turn in his keys. There's a myth that some of the main Kool-Aid drinkers around these parts believe. They think he magically handed in all his credentials from the football side of things and walked confidently into the night of this magical marketing center, filled with printers and pens and certainly not playbooks or anything resembling an NFL franchise. It's a myth. The dude has been in the draft war room for ages. Why would he stop now? I don't even blame him. Simply put, he was once the GM and CEO. Everyone in the building save for Terry and Kim Pegula have him as there boss. Who exactly is to prevent him from these football meetings? No one. It's not going to end. He needs to be fired because there's no f'ing way they bring in a football czar and the football czar tells Russ Brandon to GTFO. He'll be a major influence as long as he's here folks. ***As a total disclaimer: My hatred for Russ Brandon is not exclusive. I'm allowed to think he's a total hack and still find other faults in the organization. Please do not assume that just because I'd like to see my beloved Bills run without his presence in the draft room, that I think it's all his fault. It's not. He's a piece (a terrible, water damaged, discolored corner piece) to our crappy puzzle.

Tyrod unforced error examples: All 22 breakdown

Yeah I read it. I understand that you're defending the play like you were the head coach who called in the scripted play. If you want me to play along, let me ask you this...why do you think it was scripted to only go to one option? -

You've drank enough Koolaid for 10 cults combined. You've become the man trying to hush his crying children in Jonestown. -

Isn't he a big Dolphins fan? -
Maybe 15 years ago...even then, you can keep Brian Billick.

That's a solid point. I missed what you were saying. I'm sure last year's injuries are the reason Rex held back the starters. Like you're saying, it works for the Packers, but...we're not the Packers.

I love this idea! I'm sure Russ Brandon will hire a great coach!

Yeah it's almost like...how could anyone do it? Dude, come on. He gets paid a lot to not miss that read. I don't care if Jim Kelly dumps it off there, you gotta call that out as a terrible decision. It didn't get any better on the day for Taylor so that's any this is a big deal. All we can do now is hope this game lights a fire for Taylor and he picks his game up and plays less scared. -
You realize the hypocrisy in using this excuse for Taylor and not EJ, right?
-
I can't either, but I seem to recall that we held on to Hopkins for a while and only released him when Carpenter starting playing lights out.
-
No offense Bill, but I don't think this is a good take. Watkins played a fine game and by all accounts from those at the game was open often. The offense ineptitude probably has more to do with not taking chances and playing into the defense, only taking what they give you. Also, not sure how to blame some of Taylor's sailing throws on Watkins. Taylor was just off yesterday. Let's hope that doesn't continue or this will be a long year. Edit: and now here's proof from the first offensive snap,

Didn't Carpenter make a 56 yard field goal to win a game in overtime? Why value the miss in Sunday's game over that make? I agree the 3 points would have been great to have there, but I still think Dan Carpenter is fine. He's on thin ice for sure, but if he gets into a rhythm then there is no problem.
-
What exactly is the lesson here? I'm not sure how else we were supposed to handle this.
-
I thought it was kind of a funny change of pace post.

Were we the worst team playing on Sunday?

This depresses me so much. How the hell is this guy in there making decisions? I get the most cringed out when I watch the year end press conference and Russ fields all of the questions and basically puts the muzzle on Whaley. It's truly remarkable that Brandon has gotten where he has with so few qualifications.

Dude. You're just realizing this?

Delay of game - Use your timeouts or take 5 yards?
fridge replied to CDogg20's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I've heard a lot of people use the argument that it's okay to call the time-out because if the QB is confused, bad things can happen - but my counter has always been to just take the penalty unless the yardage is crucial (field goal range/3rd or 4th and short). The 3rd and 16 Timeout, and 2 yard reception was classic Trent Edwards/Jauron era Bills. It's disorganized, which is unacceptable in the current regime. As much as it pains me to type this...it's not something Tom Brady*/Bill Belichick* would ever do. -
I don't get the McCoy hate. You could do much worse at RB.

Worst game for the QB? EJ vs Jags or Tyrod vs Ravens

Weirdest excuse ever. You get first downs, and you'll have more pass attempts. -

Worst game for the QB? EJ vs Jags or Tyrod vs Ravens
fridge replied to Protocal69's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
No, but playtime does. We'll never know. Like I said earlier, we screwed him and did not develop him. A lot here thought that Taylor is some unattainable threshold of talent that EJ is incapable of achieving and it's a myth. Either way, if Taylor doesn't pan out in the next few weeks, we're in for yet another world famous Buffalo Bills Rebuild©. -
Did playing against his former team affect Taylor?
fridge replied to Jerry Jabber's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Sure. He needs another excuse. -
