Karlos Williams Applying for Reinstatement to the NFL
fridge replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Because he needed support and he didn’t get it. Not all of us are raised with the same level of understanding and importance of being prideful. We don’t know the full story with Karlos, but I struggle to see why he’s not worthy of both sympathy and forgiveness. -
Punt on 4th and 5 from Packers 47.

Yes, the score matters. It was 6-0 and up until that point we had been losing the field position battle. Flip the field, get a quick stop and give your rookie QB a short field. This isn’t madden. We gave up a huge drive and that was probably when the game was lost, but as someone who often questions punts, this one made complete sense. -

Sure. He appears to have exhibited a real substance abuse problem. I don’t know Gordon’s story as intimately and I think he maybe bungled multiple opportunities, but it sounds like he had a real mental disorder to deal with. -
I think McCoy is still our best player. The week that Daboll realizes that we'll have a free win.

He hasn't played well at all, but he jumped over a guy and tried to fire the defense up in a losing effort so he might as well get the key to the city in Buffalo. My benchmark is EJ Manuel, which should be very, very a low bar. Allen needs to improve completing passes in obvious passing situations and clutch third downs. If he keeps getting off the field this quickly I'll have no hope. As an aside, I think even EJ was better at this point, though no one can deny Allen's ceiling, it's a little annoying to watch a shutout and the pass he threw at the end of the first half.

It could be worse; Frank Reich could be the Bills coach

This is a loser mentality. He wasn’t focused on a tie or a loss, but a win. -

I’ve never been more disappointed in a Bills player. What an incredible rookie season, and then...nothing. By the way... the fat jokes are tired and boring. Not sure how you can’t sympathize with a young man that bungled such a wonderful opportunity. -

I focused on Star a few times today. I don’t understand why he gets a pass like he’s playing some version of the game that we can’t comprehend. He’s not getting penetration and he’s not sucking up guys like people are swooning over. He looks like an average guy. The bigger issue for me isn’t that we got him, but how we chose to upgrade the team in the offseason by spending money on him as opposed to a WR or OL. -

I liked it. I thought the broadcast team was annoying, acting like it was such an obvious decision. We’ve seen belicheck make similar calls, and even not get the first down to lose the game. -
The Baker Era Has Begun in Cleveland

Tyord taking himself out of the game with a number 1 pick chomping at the bit (Mayfield had his helmet on standing up ready to go all game) is the most Tyord thing ever. A lot of people said he was a quiet leader or a lead by example type of guy, but I don't buy it at all. Before anyone says he was hurt so it's out of his control, watch Brett Favre talk about why he never took himself out of a game until he was in his 40's. You simply can't let the next guy catch you. I'm sure Tyrod is a fine competitor by our standards, but the NFL requires a world-class level desire to win at the QB position and Tyrod doesn't show that at all. He's a tremendous athlete with all the tools to win, and a great mindset off-the-field in his preparation routine, but there was always something missing with Tyrod when the going got tough. -
I think Palmer's business is to prep prospects for the draft. He has a handful (maybe 3-4) guys that he works with. Right now UB's QB Tyree Jackson is one of his bigger names.

I think you're severely over thinking this. Rivers is a franchise QB, yes that is a given. While I do think he's pretty overrated, for the sake of argument, I'll concede that he's been consistently a top 5 QB throughout his career. So why have they made the playoffs 5 out of his 14 seasons? The answer is incredibly simple... coaching. In Rivers' first season as a starter, the Chargers went 14-2. They had Tomlinson in his prime and a decent defense, but the clear reason for their success was Schottenheimer. He preached smart play with the ball and Rivers had an above average 22:9 TD to INT ratio while the team finished first in takeaways/giveaways. Famously they fired Schottenheimer. Norv Turner and Mike McCoy aren't exactly world beaters, and I thought we all agreed the solution was Franchise QB + Great Coach = Good Team. There are some instances where a QB is good enough to succeed despite poor coaching and even fewer times when a good coach can be great with no QB, but the only proven formula is to have both.

Sadly, McDermott is the wrong guy to develop his own guys
fridge replied to BigDingus's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
As much I think he’s proven to have no idea how to handle the QB situation, more glaring to me is how the team laid an egg offensively in the last two games (playoff game in Jacksonville, opener against Ravens). Somehow, after failing to score a touchdown in our only playoff game this century, they failed to address anything to improve the offense during the offseason. I don’t know about developing a QB, but I know that they have no idea what it takes to win this division, and frankly I’m sick of seeing guy after guy come in here and completely get it wrong. -

Sure it would bother me tremendously to be a laughing stock. Thankfully, I'm not on the Bills. -

Nobody should be doubting Beane or McDermott
fridge replied to SoCoBills's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
We’ve been blown out in 4 games under McDermott. Nearly a quarter of the time his team gets just demolished right off the field. 24% of his games. I am rooting for them as much as anyone, but let’s not pretend this game was a one-off. -

High school basketball coach is his listed profession. Can someone explain to me how in the billions of profit we don’t have room for full time officials? -
I like to imagine that he was being insubordinate and talking trash about the other lineman when they watched the game film together.

Often your first read is to “look off” the safety. I am happy someone like Erik makes these videos, but it’s incredibly presumptive since we don’t know the playbook or the concept of the play.
