  1. I'm going to keep this short and simple since it isn't worth my time. This isn't about being "right" or "wrong," but if you want to construe it that way, then have at it. If you want to split hairs regarding staff vs coach, I don't want to be bothered. Waste of time. Funny you're the only person who finds fault. My ONLY point was that the following coordinators and position coaches changed since 2017: OC, OL, DL, SpT, QB, WR, DB; which is MOST of them which includes a 2/3 coordinator turnover. I'm not going down to the quality control and trainer level. Don't accuse me of trying to "make a point" I never attempted to make, or even "exaggerate"...the previous sentence was my ONLY point. In other words, the McD coaching tenure has been very volatile over the past two years. I'll be sure to check with you from now on regarding staff titles since you're the expert and all. Have yourself a wonderful day.
  2. The defensive backfield more than held its own and got little help from the pass rush. I think we have to do a better job at getting to the opposing QB, which helps the DBs not only defend passes but also create turnovers. It is not easy to play DB in today's NFL, which favors the offense; giving the opposing QB less time to get rid of the ball is a big help. Agree that we also need to improve against the run.
  3. 10-6 is probably realistic. Let's say for arguments sake we could have been 8-8 last year, 10-6 is a logical progression up, even with a lot of new players. I also think Josh Allen will be a lot more comfortable running the offense since he will be the designated starter and get most of the reps in camp/practice. Daboll has a lot on his shoulders bringing everyone up to speed and on the same page, but if he can do this, a Wildcard spot is not out of the question. On defense, the biggest question mark is DE. Need someone other than Hughes to be an aggressive pass rusher. I'm really hoping Shaq Lawson takes a step up and adds pass rushing ability to his run stopping ability.
  4. Good for you cherry picking coaching changes, going all the way down to the micro level of water and towel boy. After a (very quick) search, the following coordinators and position coaches have changed from 2017 to 2019: OC, OL, DL, SpT, QB, WR, DB; and I may have missed a few. Again, the only coordinator still around is Leslie Frazier. Look at it again and you'll see (or maybe not) this is a lot of turnover. But go ahead and continue to think McD did a bang-up job selecting coordinators and position coaches in 2017. McD has been learning on the job, which is natural since he was not a HC at any point in his coaching career. He has made a lot of mistakes, which is to be expected. We all have to hope he has learned from those mistakes over the past two years and is better for it.
  5. I'm glad someone is optimistic regarding Shaq Lawson, who started to show signs of becoming at least a decent DE last year. We better hope Shaq shows more this year, otherwise there is no one other than Hughes and a bunch of rotational guys.
  6. Finally an idea I can get behind.
  7. I''ll admit this, after the bye week (week 11), things got a lot better as far as the defense goes. It is still kind of concerning how the defense let the Dolphins score 21 and the Jets 27 or Dec 2 and 9, respectively. I'll give Frazier this year, as well as McDermott, before I get too critical on both. For the attention that was paid to the defense in 2017 and 2018 by the FO, it should have been better than it was. But we'll see... Offense was in desperate need to be addressed, so that was good to see. i still think we're short a DE/edge; and please don't count on Trent Murphy since that is setting up for disappointment.
  8. Completely agree. I think Leslie Frazier may be the only initial staff still with the team, and he too underwhelms.
  9. I'm not sure how last year's defense was ranked 2nd on any scale; seems a bit optimistic. I know SpT and the offense sucked, where the defense was put in bad starting field position in punts and kick offs and the offense couldn't stay on the field, rookie 20 year old MLB, etc. The 2018 defense did a terrible job getting to the QB, as well as stopping the run. Not indicative of an exceptional defense, some of which falls on the DC. I question how well Leslie Frazier schemes against opposing offenses, and especially opposing QB's; he is a little too conservative, IMO. McD probably is, as well, which sets the tone for the defense. In 9 of 16 games played opponents scored at least 21 points on them, which all ended up in losses. The Texans beat the Bills 20-13 (thanks Peterman), which was the only loss where fewer than 21 points were scored on the Bills. The most perplexing part is that 4 of the 9 games resulted in not just > 21 points scored against, but the loss was also > 21 points...i.e. blowout. None of those should have happened. Hopefully with the addition of Ed Oliver, Tremaine Edmunds having more experience at MLB, Josh Allen with more experience at QB, as well as FA and draft reinforcements recently brought in will all make a difference. It is on McD and his coaching staff to prove they can field a winning team. The offense will need to score more and stay on the field, which shouldn't be hard compared to last year since the bar is set so low. I do want to see the defense be more aggressive in getting after the opposing QB and not rely on the backfield to make plays, which isn't the best idea in today's NFL. I'm concerned that McD and Frazier don't see it this way.
  10. Trust The Process needs to go; we've heard enough of it. Show me some W's.
  11. $20 + $5 tip = $25. I get a haircut about every 6 weeks.
  12. That was hilarious...thanks for posting @Reed83HOF!
  13. Pretty funny skit. I wish it showed more of Matt Damon's reaction at the end.
  14. completely agree. Additionally, Shaq has to know that going from making $3.2M in 2019 to $9.5M in 2020 is not realistic. I doubt he takes the Bills not picking up his 5th year option personally, and hope it brings out the best in him this year.
  15. This sounds most logical. This year is very much a prove it year for Shaq. It shouldn't be a surprise the Bills don't want to pay a guy who is making strides in the right direction $9.5M in 2020 after he makes $3.2M in 2019. If Lawson continues to improve and make an impact this year, I can see Beane sign Shaq to a multi-year deal that makes sense, dollar-wise.
  16. Ultimately, neither. If I had to pick one, Julio Jones. I think Clowney is all hype and he will not be able to live up to a big contract.
  17. Like mentioned above, win games and the Bills will get attention. Also this should include victories over the Jets, Dolphins, and Patriots. Take control of the AFCE, should be first order of business going forward.
  18. Yep, Mason Crosby. Fair points made. The other thing to keep in mind is the 2000 Raiders were a good team that went 12-4 and lost to the Ravens, who ended up winning the SB.
  19. You sure about that? He became the Raiders all team leading scorer back in 2008. https://www.pro-football-reference.com/teams/rai/career-passing.htm All-time Scoring Leader: Sebastian Janikowski 1,799 points EDIT: Okay, dumb point by me. Apparently I am stupid...and don't call me Shirley.
  20. https://www.yahoo.com/sports/ex-raiders-seahawks-kicker-sebastian-janikowski-retiring-192114750--nfl.html "The Raiders took Janikowski with the 17th overall pick in the 2000 draft out of Florida State. Nicknamed ''Seabass,'' Janikowski converted 80.4% of his field goal attempts during his career, including a career long of 63 yards during the 2011 season, the only time he was selected for the Pro Bowl. The kick at the time matched the NFL record for longest field goal made." Al Davis got this one right. I remember everyone laughing at the Raiders when Janikowski was their first pick in the 2000 draft.
  21. Can't have too many Johnsons on a team. He was one too many.
  22. You don't like the Star signing and think his best days are behind him. Fine, I respect that. I put heavier weighting on what teammates and coaches say about his role. Let's see how this season goes. If the pass rush gets better and teams have a harder time running on us, then Star has a place here. If these do not happen, then fine, time to cut our losses and move on from Star.
  23. I hear what you're saying, and it is no different than what any other fanalyst is saying; Star didn't make any plays, only ate up space and took on blockers. Then I read what players on the team say, such as Lorax and have to put a lot of weight on that. Hughes and Lorax both had pretty good years, with Shaq Lawson seeming to start trending up (though this needs to continue). Is that a result of Star's role? Not sure, but Lorax seems to indicate so. Another thing to consider is Kyle was a fraction of what he used to be, Harrison Phillips seems like a rotational DT, and Jordan Phillips showed signs of life but I would think the coaches want to see more from him. Trent Murphy shouldn't be on the team, he does nothing. So it is possible that more fell on Star's shoulders last season. That should lessen with the arrival of Ed Oliver. Let's assume Star continues in the same role this season, everyone else (along with the defense as a whole) should get a lot better if Star is truly effective in his role. If not, then I'll start to believe that the Star acquisition was a bad one. Leslie Frazier also needs to step up with his scheme to get more pressure on the QB; blockers occupied by Star and Oliver should allow for other rushers (LB, S, or CB) to quickly get to the backfield. I'm not sold on Frazier as a DC at this point. We'll see how all of this shakes out this coming season.
  24. Barkley with Tyrod second. Fitz too many times will throw a devastating pick...potential higher ceiling than the other two, but a much lower floor.
