  1. I predict that before the end of the first half I'll be watching something on Netflix.
  2. Gruden was reprimanding him for hitting too much while they were in shorts and he said “you can’t cut me”. I think he was reacting to Gruden telling him that of he keeps hitting guys the offensive players would start cut-blocking him in retaliation. Rewound that little sequence to be sure. Made it through 45 minutes and gave up. Not very entertaining for me compared to several years ago. I feel the show has run its course and am also glad the Bills got overlooked. The only player I was remotely interested in was Ronald Ollie because I watched Last Chance U and then he gets cut right away for doing the same lazy crap he was doing in college.
  3. Shame, but he's constantly hurt. That's probably why the Rams were so quick to toss him into the Watkins trade. He was also injured last season in Cleveland. Good player but you can't count on him.
  4. Some advice for those thinking of doing antennas for locals. Spend a little extra $$ and get a good one not those flimsy paper looking ones then try to get it up as high as possible. I have mine mounted in the attic which puts it about a good 26 feet above ground level. If you can roof mount it that would be even better. A lot of silly things can interfere with digital OTA singles like brick walls (but not wood which is why most attics make sense) high humidity and even trees in weaker areas. I've been doing this for locals with Sling TV and haven't missed DirecTV yet. I do miss the Sunday Ticket later in the season when we get stuck with the dreaded 4pm dog of a game, but my neighbor still has it and we go over there.
  5. It's an OK list, not sure as someone else mentioned that Tomlin belongs there. It's a better list than some of the other ones who have listed Freddie Kitchens as a better coach than McD even though he HASN'T COACHED A GAME YET. Yes there are lists like that out there. Training camp can't start soon enough for some of these sportswriters.
  6. Bill McKinley. He taught music for a year at my sister's high school in '73 or so.
  7. I'm 60 and barely remember Greg Cook. In all honesty had he not passed away in recent years I would have forgotten all about him. I can't fault Chris for that, he normally does great work in any forum, written or otherwise. Greg Cook was a promising talent and would have been good for the AFL/AFC, but the shoulder injury took that away from him. It is worth noting that Greg's injury forced the Bengals to use Virgil Carter who didn't have the arm strength Cook had. A young assistant coach developed a passing game to cater to those weaknesses. His name was Bill Walsh from wikipedia: In 1968, Walsh moved to the AFL expansion Cincinnati Bengals, joining the staff of legendary coach Paul Brown. It was there that Walsh developed the philosophy now known as the "West Coast Offense", as a matter of necessity. Cincinnati's new quarterback, Virgil Carter, was known for his great mobility and accuracy but lacked a strong arm necessary to throw deep passes. Thus, Walsh modified the vertical passing scheme he had learned during his time with the Raiders, designing a horizontal passing system that relied on quick, short throws, often spreading the ball across the entire width of the field.[6] The new offense was much better suited to Carter's physical abilities; he led the league in pass completion percentage in 1971.
  8. The powder blues are a great uniform. The Chargers unis looked awesome to me back in the AFL days too.
  9. Not a fan of the white on white throwbacks, would prefer the home blue for the jerseys for that combo. The white on white remind me too much of the Joe Collier/Harvey Johnson/John Rauch/Harvey Johnson era of futility. That's when I started following the team and you could only see the team on TV if it was a road game. HATED the Bledsoe era look, the colors were terrible. Would like to see them try blue jerseys with red pants as an alternate sometime. It may turn out to be horrible.
  10. Reminds me of the late stages of the '85 season.
  11. My introduction to Schein was his role as host of Inside the NFL on Showtime Same. But to be fair some guys are far better in print than they are on radio/TV/podcast....unless your Sully....... Schein was highly critical of their decision to start Peterman last year. So he has some cred with me based on that.
  12. I think it's innovative that a team decides to do an all black alternate uniform. That's never been done before by any sports team.....did I mention I'v'e been in a coma for 30 years?
  13. Can't help but think if Charles Clay holds on in Miami that play would have been nominated and probably stood a better chance than the hurdle.
  14. Horrible piece of click bait. Van Pelt did not take over Kelly in '94. Frank Reich was still on the team and took over. Idiot can't even get his facts straight. There have been some truly bad starting QBs for the Bills besides Peterman. Marangi was probably the worst of the 70s with Bruce Mathison being the worst of the 80s. I'd Give Todd Collins the award for the 90s. As for the last 2 decades? Take your pick!
  15. I would have preferred the Saints vs. Patriots, at least Brees would have put up some points, but the NFL made that decision for me.
  16. I kept wondering how many times Josh Allen would have scrambled out or bought time to make a play. Goff was a statue in the headlights.
  17. We already had Chris Farley with Carl Mauck. When I saw the name Heffernan I thought it was the actor who played Farva in Supertroopers.
  18. Kelly took some heat early on from Rob Riddick for always looking downfield and ignoring checkdowns to the RBs etc. It wasn't until Thurman got here that he seemed to listen to that advice. Josh does that too. Not even going to begin to think that's what Kelly is going to talk to him about, but it's something I noticed about the two QBs that was similar at this stage of their careers.
  19. For a real challenge, let's revisit all these threads in January 2020 and see how Allen is progressing. I liked what I saw a lot toward the end of the season, but need to see a lot more next year. I've been fooled too many times with QBs in the past.
  20. 2 UDFAs is not bad. Polian built a lot of our teams on late round guys, maybe McBeane can do the same with guys that fly below the radar on draft day.
  21. They should hire Tony Romo. He saw what they didn't especially at the end of the game.
  22. Personally I thought the two most exciting things that happened during the AFC Championship game were when the refs huddled up for about five minutes both times and then told us "The game clock is correct." Now THAT'S NFL football and the drama of competition at its finest! I'm glad that was on display yesterday to national TV audience so that even the casual fan could enjoy the game.
  23. Now lets hope they can skip that godawful Hard Knocks. Yes please, stay away from that pile of road apples.
  24. Maybe some of these offensive "gurus' should look at better clock management and not always going for big chunk plays. I was screaming at the TV last night when the Chiefs scored that they left too much damn time on the clock with just slightly over 2 minutes. You do that if you have a killer defense like the Ravens, not the 31st ranked unit which would have made Walt Corey look like a genius. If it's a close game like that, take some f****ing time off the clock. If you're Sean McVay, and the Rams, keep that in mind.
  25. Sometimes before the snap the refs have let players know that they're either Offside, or in an illegal formation, but everyone could probably agree that with the extreme crowd noise yesterday it would have been very difficult for anyone to let Dee Ford know he was lined-up in the neutral zone. That's on him and I agree with Protocal69....do your job!
