ROCKPILE REVIEW - Serious Win
Forward Progress replied to Shaw66's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Wallace had a tough matchup with Aiyuk last night and it's fair to say that Aiyuk got the better of Wallace. Football is a game of match-ups and this is the only match-up I could see that favored the 49'ers. Dane Jackson looked good in his two appearances this year and I'd like to see him elevated to the active roster to get a few more snaps to find out if he's ready for a bigger role. I think he's done enough get a promotion from the practice squad. McDermott has instilled a culture where young players need to earn their way onto the roster to keep them "hungry and humble." As fans, we get impatient when we think that better players are held down on the depth chart (e.g. Boettger), but if holding back on promotions to starters reinforces the culture where playing time is earned, not given, then we can try to be a little more patient as this is a big part of the Bills becoming a contender. -
Week 13: Bills at 49ers on MNF (in Arizona)
Forward Progress replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
When I played hockey, most players used grey or black face masks because they were easier to see through than the white masks. I’m not sure if it’s as important in football, since the opening is much larger. -

With the 49er run game, the 4-3 defence would be a better fit than the 4-2-5. We haven’t put a lot of 4-3 on film this year, so SF would take a few possessions to adjust if we defend this way. -
[Misleading Title] Daddy Issues
Forward Progress replied to Virgil's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I love this take @Virgil - I think you’re absolutely right. Is it too much to suggest that the absence of Kraft Productions providing sideline footage has weakened the Pats ability to anticipate their opponents moves? The drop off in play from the AFC Championship game to this years team goes beyond just the decline in on-field talent. (This is mere speculation from a proud member of the Tin Foil Hat Associaton). -
Why Did You Become a Buffalo Bills Fan?
Forward Progress replied to JohnNord's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I grew up playing hockey, as every good Canadian boy should. I didn't start watching football until I was in University when I would watch it with my room mates. I was completely hooked on the sport by the time I graduated, but hadn't really picked a team yet. After graduation, I was broke and didn't want to pay for cable. The Bills were the only team that I could watch for free every week, so I became addicted to this team. I guess you could say the Bills were the only team I could afford. -
Beane needs to get on the telephone

I think the NFL needs a team where all personnel decisions and in-game play calls are made by discussion board democracy. There is no team in the NFL, run by mere individuals, that could match the aggregated intelligence of the discussion board community. -
Trevor Lawrence Advised to Avoid Jets

Is there any reason right now to believe that the Jets don't pick 1st again in 2022? -

How do you watch the game?
Forward Progress replied to What a Tuel's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'm in Canada, so this won't work for most of you without a VPN, but I watch NFL GamePass on DAZN. I can either pay $20 Cdn/mon or $150/yr. I get the full year as DAZN also provides Champions League Soccer, so I use it year-round. -
Week 5: Bills at Titans on Tuesday Night Football
Forward Progress replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'll post it again, since this is such a big thread and you'll never find it any other way... Sports Broadcasting Act of 1961, which exempts the NFL from antitrust laws for its broadcasting rights. The act prohibits NFL broadcasts on Friday nights and on Saturdays "beginning on the second Friday in September and ending on the second Saturday in December." -

Week 5: Bills at Titans on Tuesday Night Football

I understand the Steelers' frustration, but when that game was rescheduled, there had not been an investigation to determine if the Titans had violated league protocols. The investigation that is underway may change the league's position from accomodating to punitive. -
Hypothetical: Chances we regret losing Daboll?
Forward Progress replied to jletha's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
We have a choice of two problems: 1. Our OC leads an explosive offense, earns a promotion to head coach somewhere else and leaves us in need of a replacement. 2. Our OC leads an ineffective offense and stays too long before getting fired. Sign me up for problem #1.- 69 replies

I just checked with Al Riveron. New rule this year - the tie goes to second person to take control.

Two things struck me from this video: 1. Our offence against Miami had multiple open receivers on many of the plays. 2. The biggest criticism of Josh was that he hit the checkdown on a couple of plays when a receiver was open further down field. Each of those checkdowns turned into 20-yd gains with the YAC. (Yes - I'm ignoring the Knox fumble at the end of one) This collection of receivers, combined with Daboll's play design and Josh play at the next level is setting up to be the most exciting Bill's offence that I've had the chance to watch. I missed the Superbowl teams of the 90's, so there wasn't much competition.

Week 1: Jets at Bills (-6.5)
Forward Progress replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It's the emotional roller coaster that makes being a football fan so much fun. After being stuck on the track in a broken coaster for so many years, it's time to enjoy the ride again!!! GO BILLS!!!
