  1. Well of course they are arbitrary, there is no stat for missed wide open receivers. The closest stat we have is comp %. Which for the past 4 games, the games when some fans fell in love with fitz, his completion percentsge was around 57%, as already stated in this thread. But you can sit there and say you havent noticed the missed receivers or errant throws.
  2. I think you are right to say even elite qb's miss wide open receivers. But where the differences lie between fitz and elite qb's is how often fitz misses wide open recievers. Like the passage of time, its almost guarunteed fitz will throw 4-5 god awful passes and miss wide open guys in ONE GAME. For an elite qb he might miss that same amount over the course of 2 or 3 games.
  3. +1 I live in LA right now, and refuse to own a dog because 1.) I dont have a yard to let a dog roam freely and 2.) Dont have the time and dedication it takes to own a dog. Ive had dogs my entire life and refuse to be part of this culture that thinks its ok to take a tammed wild animal and cage it up all day or not let it roam freely. And for those same dog lovers that say there dog is part of the family, would you lock ur child up alone and home? If you want to truly help a dog, instead of bitching on a bills forum, like ur the voice of reason, why dont you take a couple hours out of your day and spend some time at your local shelter. Thats what I do. And yes im also non-religious and have forgiven michael vick. People make mistakes in life. As far as his on the field play. He looked like an MVP last night. He connected with 4 different recievers for TDs. As well as running for 2. He certainly gets my vote for the first half of the season.
  4. I must say, it kind of bothers me when people have an opinion on a player and someone doesnt agree and has to resort to name calling like numbskulls and idiot. That being said, its great to compare stats, we could compare stats of Qb's all day long til we are all blue in the face. In the end there is only one stat that matters the most. Wins, period. Fitzpatrick just cant seem to get that most important of stats. Of which oddly, the guy you have chosen to compare has more of. And has in a way turned St. Louis around. And yes I know people will say its a team game and blah, blah, blah. Yet guys like Peyton Manning and Tom Brady continue to win, eventhough their defense is mediocre. It seems as though they can plug any player in on offense and it works. Why is that? Im sorry if some of us are of the opinion that fitz will never be one of those guys. We watch the games and see a guy who plays with lots of heart and has flashes of brillance. But who on many occasions(i counted 5 missed wide open recievers yesterday) is widely inaccurate. I dont think anyone here thinks fitzpatrick sucks. He makes the bills fun to watch. But just as Trent made a 5-1 bills team fun to watch, some of us choose to be cautious on nominating fitz the future. Oh and not to punch holes in your theory that we get our opinions from ESPN and NFLN, but most of the analysts actually like Fitz. So if we followed them, we actually all be on the same page.
  5. So let me get this straight Mr. Goodell, the 19 year old Georgia dome isnt good enough for a Super Bowl, but the 35 year old Superdome is? That logic makes complete sense.... what a crock. So basically you want to hold the city of Atlanta ransom and say you not good enough to hold a Super Bowl unless u drop millions or billions of dollars on a new stadium, that is prolly not needed.
  6. I dont mean to punch holes in your theory, but July isnt recently. Im not sure why you dug up this article to disprove another persons article... peoples minds change through the course of months, especially knowing you could be the overall #1 pick. Do I know if Luck will enter the draft, no. Do you? No. You opinion of the matter has been well documented through just about every Luck thread. Is this possibly an attempt to save face if he does actually come out?
  7. Its too bad the "sky is falling" people couldnt wait til a report of the injury came out. If they had they would have found out it was only minor, and "to be expcted" from what chan said. Hell chan even said before this that he wasnt sure merriman would be in football shape right away.
  8. Better watch what you say around here, you will get called an idiot or a moron for having a difference in opinion. Funny how when he goes on the fritz, all who blindly support him, agree that it is never fitz's fault. Ever.
  9. I watched the game and will have to respectfully disagree. First, how can you be sure that the check down wasn't the play called. I counted a handful of plays that were meant to be thrown out into the flat. There is absolutely nothing wrong with short passes, they keep cornerbacks and safties honest, so that a receiver can eventually burn them for a big play, which happened a couple times. Secondly when your #1 receiver has 9 catches for 165 yards, the QB is not checking down an awful lot. Third Andrew Luck averaged 9.2 yards per throw. Not really an average you would expect from a QB checking down. And fourth, and I think the most important point, dude its college ball, not the NFL, remember that when trying to be sooo critical of QB play. He doesn't have the best of the best at WR, who can get open for him. Every analyst seems to be an agreement that he is the man, the best there is in college football. Lets not be too judgemental and just enjoy watching him play and hope that we get to see him in a Bills uni next year.
  10. Also its his loss because he would lose out on a bunch of money. Money from this year AND possibly a big contract next year. He hasnt proven he can still play at an elite level since the injuries. No team will pay big bucks for him if he doesnt report and prove he can still play. NFL countdown said last night that this could be his last chance in the NFL. If he has half a brain, he will report
  11. Well you were right about one thing.... he won't remain the 2nd highest rated QB in the league. QB ratings Also that seemed like one point overall, i don't think you ever stated your 2nd point, or I missed it. Im confused as to why you say everyone knows he won't remain at that level. So basically you are admitting he isn't an elite level QB because he can't keep the stats up? Kinda proves the point i was making that he is a serviceable QB and maybe not the long term answer, no? Listen, I am not saying he sucks, I actually enjoyed his play in the Baltimore game, it was exciting. And yes he does have the rest of the season to prove that he deserves to be a starter. But people can't get upset when other people say he is what he is. Or he is what we thought he was. Its not that the KC game was his only mediocre game to judge him by, he played 3 other fairly mediocre games this season as well, which i think most fans are not taking into account.
  12. I completely disagree with this post. All QB's do not do what Fitz has done collectively for the season. Elite level QB's play lots of great games and maybe a few bad ones. They don't play consistently mediocre ones and 1 great game. Also elite QB's find was to win and drive there teams down the field to win. Again no one here is saying Fitz sucks. He is completely serviceable. As far as you comparing Rivers to Fitz. I've seen a lot of Philip Rivers as well. To compare them is completely asinine as well. Rivers body of work speaks for itself. I don't really understand how you can compare the two. Since taking over starting duties Rivers has taken his team to the playoffs each year. And he has been to the pro bowl 2 times. This year, he leads the #1 passing attack in NFL. He has had 5 games of passing over 300 yards(there's that not playing mediocre all the time, but playing great all the time). Not to mention 2 of those games were over 400 yards!! He has 15 tds with 7 int. He has played more games that Fitz this season, but seeing as Rivers has consistency on his side I'd say its not a fluke that he is doing this well. All of this, while not even having his #1 wideout this year. Idk, what your watching but Rivers is light years ahead of Fitz. This week he was even able to win and throw for over 300 despite Malcolm Floyd, Legedu Naanee, and Craig Davis all missed the game, and Antonio Gates was hurt. And against a very good Titans defense. Hmmm being able to have a great game despite who is playing at receiver. Does that sound like another Elite NFL QB? Sure does. I think you may have heard of him, in case you haven't his name is Peyton Manning.
  13. Im sorry but his logic just doesnt make sense to me. Fitz hasnt had just 1 bad game, so idk why some people keep using that stat. He has had ONE great game. He was ok to mediocre in his other 4 starts this season. Can u say that same thing about Brees or Manning? Have they been only mediocre in the rest of their starts? The answers no. So comparing them is asinine. Great Qbs have great games all the time, and yes an occasional bad one. Not to mention 2 of the 3 bad games listed(manning, brady "bad games") they still won. I dont think anyone here is saying Fitz sucks. But its important to look at fitzs entire body of work. And the people who are arguing against him are simply saying this shows he is not the answer.
  14. Listen, the loss is a combination of things. Is Fitz one of those? Yes. I'm sorry if you can't see that throwing an interception while driving is costly. Not to mention missing a wide open CJ Spiller to end the game in OT. Which would have taken wining the game off of Lindell's shoulders. How about the 4 to 5 errant throws he made. A couple of those could have been INTs. Yes he makes some good throws. But I'd say he makes a good amount of god-awful looking throws too. And this happens every game with Fitz, Is that something you want to see out of a "franchise" QB? I'd hope not.
  15. Not to mention the running game as well. With the threat of passing, teams can't stack the box.
  16. Yes there are plans to build a stadium... they haven't started. http://www.losangelesfootballstadium.com/ But, and its a big one. Being from LA, it is in THE worst location. It says on the website its a hour away from 15 million people. All the money in LA is mostly located on the west side of the city. Traffic, which is already a huge issue, would be the worst trying to get out there. It even states its 20 mins from downtown. I want to know in what universe do these people think it'll be a 20 min drive. Hell Obama visited a month ago and it literally took me 2 hours to drive about 3 miles. There is going to have to be some major construction on a couple of freeways to handle it out in city of industry. Yes its a privately funded stadium, but fixing the freeways to handle the traffic is going to have to come from the state. Also people in LA can see football, USC/UCLA, and not have to drive nearly as far. I just don't see this succeeding when LA gets another team. I use the word when, because I think it will happen, but it'll end up being Jacksonville. Did you see that monday night game? The team had a 3-2 record going into monday night, and they couldn't even sell out the stadium. There were empty seats all around the 50 yard line and in the upper area where they always put that tarp over entire sections that they don't sell. Honestly I think it will end up being Jacksonville that comes to LA and ultimately fails for the 4th time, IMO.
  17. Im sorry, but I can not stand fans who can't read the entire quote from buddy nix when he said the o-line was a top priority. YES, he said that, but in that same quote if you read on further he said "that help was just not there." Meaning at that point in the draft there was no one there they graded was worth picking that could help the bills. And he is right, have you seen the OL drafted after the bills and what they have done. Please, Please, stop picking quotes and using them how you will, but leaving out the rest. If you don't believe me, go read the quote. http://www.buffalorumblings.com/2010/9/9/1678761/bills-gm-nix-o-line-was-main
  18. Jp losman, late first round talent Trent Edwards, 3rd round talent Brian Brohm, 2nd round talent Its been far far too long since the bills took a true 1st round QB. Yea there might be a 2nd rd QB with some talent, but the bills have missed way too many times at QB to pass up a franchise QB if they get the chance to pick one. And as far as trading down, its a lot easier said than done, not to mention Nix has already stated is this past draft he doesnt believe in trading during draft day, what makes u think he will change his mind....
  19. Wow. A voice of reason. His stats are completely inflated by end of game "padding of the stats." These threads fail to mention how many recievers he missed with his terrible throws.. some of them were just plain awful. Not to mention our third down conversion % is terrible. As an offense we have lots of 3 and outs, which some people just completely forget about Its funny that someone commented about our D last year stopping offeses more. You do realize on sunday they forced them to kick 5 FG, 4 of which were beyond 40 yds. Scobee was just money. Im not trying to say our defense is anything spectacular. But they are on the field an awful lot. Time of possesion for the bills is terrible. I think we get away from running the ball, and dominating time of possesion. There were a couple series on sunday with 3 straight pass plays. We have a handful of rushing td's this year. That to me is unbelievable. To say the defense is the only problem, to me, just says ur not looking at the whole picture and trying to use stats as a way to feel better about the offense.
  20. A friend of mine, whos from GB, said many years ago when Bret was in GB, it was hush hush that Bret had a couple girlfriends up there while he waa married. Said he was very much a womanizer. Now, at time i didnt believe him and just thought it was the fans talking, ya know... seeing stuff like this makes me think maybe he was speaking the truth. But like mentioned before who cares. I honestly dont care about any athletes personal life
  21. If you remember back to when we did run the 43, schobel would drop into coverage occasionally. Its called a stunt. You show that ur bringing 4, then when the balls snapped the DE drops into coverage and a LB blitzes, causing an overload on one side of the line. That being said, kelsay is just not good in coverage as a DE or OLB
  22. Its funny, people say things like we dont have any talent, and getting talent through the draft is the way to go, so thats why this trade it good. Im sorry if i dont understand this logic, you take someone who has talent to start here and on other football teams(lynch) and trade him for a fouth and possibly 5th round guy who may or may not even end up on the field. So we traded a proven person, for a couple question marks.
  23. This. Sorry. I just dont get the excitement in trading away a pro bowl rb. So the guy had a couple off the field issues... the city turns on him as per usual. What does that say about other players who might come here? Maybe pittsburg should unload their franchise pro-bowl qb because obviously in his absence they found capable qbs. Instead what will most likely happen is the team and city will embrace his return... oh well. Good luck beast mode.
  24. Unbelievable.
  25. Brent Mussberger(sp?) commented that Luck looks a lot like Peyton Manning.
