I agree that brohm didn't do anything. But the defense people on this board put up for him(he has upside, talent, etc..), is just ridiculous. I mean obviously he hasn't done enough in practice to warrant a lot of playing time during the pre season(funny how that works, when he was in GB that was the same situation). But yet people defend him here and say he needs a chance. I ask you why? do you think chan can't make up his mind in practice or the film he has seen of him? just because some of these posters haven't seen him play in game situations, doesn't mean the bills should throw him out there to please you. Chan has seen enough of him to make a decision and guess what, that decision is he isn't good enough to see a lot of playing time. The guy has NEVER thrown for a NFL touchdown in 10 games.... i think that says enough of the skills of brian brohm.

Preseason 3 "Gameday" thread Cincy @ Buffalo
Wayne Cubed replied to Skoobydum's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
+1 Its all about getting the job done. Mark Snatch-Head looks "skittish" most of the time, but there offense was productive enough to get them to the playoffs last year, even with his f ups. Its about moving the ball. Be productive. -
Preseason 3 "Gameday" thread Cincy @ Buffalo

do you really think in preseason chan would show off the entire offensive playbook? what sense would that make. Listen its a basic offense your seeing because its just preseason. They hardly even game plan for these games. So enjoy the game and the improvements that are our there to see. Stop reading into it so much. -
QB rotation for Bengals game

but don't you see brohm just needs more time, we haven't seen enough of him in the 9 preseason and 1 regular season game. #sarcasm -
QB rotation for Bengals game

Just saying you can't compare, drew brees to brian brohm. 2 different situations and 2 different qbs. -
QB rotation for Bengals game
Wayne Cubed replied to Cotton Fitzsimmons's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
No offense, but Brian Brohm is not Drew Brees. He is Brian Brohm. And has his own short comings when it comes to NFL style football. An average arm happens to be one of them. His ability to not find the end zone is another. What he did in college is, just that. Maybe it won't ever translate into starting in the NFL. Not trying to knock the guy, but i can't stand when people try to compare apples to oranges. He hasn't proven yet that he was worth a second round pick. That doesn't mean he won't end up being a good Qb. -
At what point do you cut your losses with Maybin?
Wayne Cubed replied to DIE HARD 1967's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
i believe i heard chan say that he thinks maybins pass rushing skills are there, but he needs to do more to get on the field on 1st and 2nd downs, against the run. Which may explain why he is playing with the scrubs, to offer him more playing time in general. Idk. I don't have any problem with him, he works hard. -
Um no, honestly i don't. And what does one WR have to do with anything? How about i make a counter point... Its not like Brohm was going up against 1st team defense. He was playing against indys what did you call it "2nd, 3rd and "wont be on the team" string defense." there is so much potential he shouldn't have had a problem scoring. he still had opportunities to throw to jackson(who looks good) and had bell running for him(who also looks very good). And it wasn't even the first game brohm has played in. Why didn't Levi Brown, who is a rookie, taken no snaps in the NFL, not have trouble finding the endzone? And there is the problem, the guy can't find the endzone, i'm not saying don't let him play and develop, but he has not done a thing to warrant playing with the starters, i think.
-
so apparently throwing to jackson and having bell in the backfield isn't good enought for brohm... funny i remember it being fine for fitz.

For what its worth in his first 3 years in preseason tony romo went 56 for 75 for 687 yards and 3 TD's.... at least he showed he could score with his limited playing time. oh and he ran for a TD. at least he could show he had game. Brohm hasn't even done that.
-
The discussion was about brohm if i am not mistaken. there are about 100 other threads about how much people think trent sucks. But i suppose some people never want to miss an oppurtunity to bash a player on a team they "love."
-
more of a gamer? like i said before, in 9 preseason games and 1 regular season games he has yet to throw a TD. how does that make him a gamer... he's thrown 8 ints and 0 tds. sorry i'm just not following the logic.
-
i would say choking in the red zone is a worry. and i'm not talking about his teammates, i'm talking about him. fitz was able to score with the 2's. his teammates didn't seem to hold him back. and no offense, but at least trent has score an actual TD in an NFL game. The same goes for Fitz.
-
I'll lay a little one out there, In 10 games(9 preseason and 1 regular) he has yet to throw for TD. He had a chance last night and still couldn't. Idk about you, but that seems to me like a pretty big downside.
-
I don't know if its some fans emotions or what that are getting in the way of doing a non-biased analysis of how brian brohm played. He honestly did not play good enough to deserve playing with the #1's, so why should he get that chance? Because of this "upside" everyone talks about? The thing with upside is everyone has it, until they do something wrong then its called their downside. And my opinion Brohm is that he has already showed some downsides, in 1 nfl game(atlanta last year) and 9 preseason games he has yet to score a TD. lets Furthermore non-biased writer Tim Graham has already said that what he saw was very mediocre. "Brohm's performance was OK against the Colts' backups. He threw a lot of high-percentage short stuff, completing 14 of 21 attempts for 125 yards with no touchdowns or no interceptions. He had a wonderful chance to throw for his first NFL touchdown right before halftime. The Bills had second-and-goal from the 5, but Brohm misfired on two passes. The Bills kicked a field goal." I bolded the key points. With that OUTSIDE assessment how could one think he deserves to play with the 1st team. Fitz didn't seem to have any problem scoring against Washingtons 2nds and 3rds. Yes brian brohm had some good throws, but in no way do i think he over took fitz as back up or Trent as #1. And therefore i say again what has he done to deserve or earn time with the 1's? it would be counter productive and a waste of time to do so, because then your losing time with developing and getting the #1s set for the regular season. Let him keep playing with the 2s and let him develop there, if he is going to develop at all.

well thats one way to lose your starting QB.
-
this might be a little OT, but they just showed Joe Namath... and i'll i can think is, why is that guy in the hall of fame? The guy threw 50 more INTs then he did TDs. I mean ya, he won a super bowl... but i'm pretty sure he's the only QB in the hall of fame to throw more INTs then TDs.

The right thing to do with Trent Edwards
Wayne Cubed replied to Got_Wood's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
No offense, because i'm not a huge trent fan either, but again i think bills fans are putting too much on this first preseason game... even the first offensive series. I mean if you look at fitz's first couple series, his throws were way off. Hell look at some of mcnabb's throws, he missed a wide open long ball. Its the first time the bullets started flying for real. I would say if over the course of preseason his passes or confidence don't improve, then you judge him. -
Rather be in our position than the Redskins?
Wayne Cubed replied to AllDayADay's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The said this in another thread, do you know how many first team offense haven't scored a TD?... to which people had no response or it was well there 1st team was only on the field for 2 series. The bills were on for 4. Some bills fans just don't get it. They expect to see change fast. And if it doesn't happen fast then we suck and will suck. Pre-season means nothing, this game was a glorified practice scrimmage. Why read into it? Hell the Detroit Lions went 4-0 in preseason, then went 0-16. I'd rather lose a game and know that we need some improvements then go 4-0 and think we are fine, then get killed in the regular season. -
Actually what he did was make a statement with his hit. Come over the middle and ur gonna get a good lick. He did none of what you said after the play. If you don't like the guy fine, but that was a great hit. Granted it was still a completion, but stop ragging on the guy, he's a very good safety. At least he didn't get run over like i saw Jarius Byrd did on a couple running plays.

Tyler Thigpen Will Be On The Bills!
Wayne Cubed replied to Estelle Getty's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
See i'm sort of ok with this. Depends on what miami wants in a trade. Draft picks? no way... If miami drops him or cuts him, then i'm all for this. It couldn't hurt. I have a feeling miami won't give him up so easily to us, especially if it could come back and burn them. -
is it too soon to plan who we'll be picking at 1 in '11?
Wayne Cubed replied to jester43's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Hell tampa bay went 0-4 that entire preseason. Detroit went 4-0 in preseason, then went 0-16 in regular season. preseason honestly means so little. -
Didn't Kyle Williams look like an animal at NT on the run plays? He'd just push the center aside and make the tackle. He's gonna draw some doubles i think, which in whole will help out the whole DL.

Nice post. I agree. I'm sure i'll get flammed for this but..... Its also pre season for the Refs. I mean they need to get back into full on game mode too. Which that being said most of them were mental errors.
