Peter King's writeup on RGIII's night
Wayne Cubed replied to JÂy RÛßeÒ's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I didn't realise stats in preseason games were "substanial news." Obviouslt this means Bob Griffin will lead them to the preseason playoffs and earn preseason player of the year. He is probably good enough to get the Skins' to the preseason super bowl... Or maybe he's a rookie QB that looked good against the team that actually goes on to win the Super Bowl? Maybe you should ask Cam Newton how he feels about winning his first preseason game. Oh wait, that happened to him last year, the team he beat went on to win the Super Bowl last year, so even he'll tell you stats and wins in the preseason isn't "substanial news." -
Seriously with this?

Peter King's writeup on RGIII's night
Wayne Cubed replied to JÂy RÛßeÒ's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
That article was ridiculous. Seriously? It was a scrimmage, against a defense who was playing run defense the entire series he was in. Maybe we shouldn't play the REGULAR season at all and just give him rookie of the year now. -
QB will be the reason we still can't get it done

So let me get this straight.... Because its Fitz, preseason is meaningful but every other QB who plays poorly in pre season gets a pass? -

Geez, relax. It's the preseason, how the hell do you know the Bills are going exclusively to the no huddle for the season? -

I was watching the first half and noticed the syncing problems, thought it was my connection. Good to hear they sorted it out, cause I turned it off at the half. -

Whoa, way to much factual information in there. -
What I found to be most unsettling

Carved up? I don't think Gilmore was even thrown at... I'm gonna look through the game again, but I believe it was McKelvin covering Garcon and/or Williams. As far as i'm aware Gilmore wasn't tested once, which may mean he had his receiver locked down. And this was a base defense.... but yes the sky is falling. -

This, this and this some more. The offense was so vanilla/backyard football-esque. There was no motions, it was the bills lining 5 recievers up, have them run different routes and have fitz go through some reads. Also gave them a chance to look at the how the pass blocking is coming along, like if its possible for them to develop longer pass plays. The bills know they can run the ball, why risk a broken clavical aka Ryan Matthews. Hell the players are generally only going 1/2 speed because they don't want to get hurt. It boggles my mind that people think you can read into pre-season games and that they are a determing factor for the season. -
GDT: Washington Redskins @ Buffalo Bills 8/9/12 7:00PM

Was just about to say that myself. It's actually an awesome deal, you can pay in monthly payments and you can pick just one team to follow for a cheaper price. -

I kind of figured it would only apply to Regular season. Oh well, just thought it might be nice to check it out during the pre season. -

NFL Preseason Live - Watch Games Online

I currently have GamePass, which comes with Preseason Live, does anyone else have the telestrator and coaches film for the Saints/Cardinals game on the iPad? Just wondering, because with GamePass supposedly you get unlimited access to coaches film and telestrator, but there isn't a coaches film for the Saints/Cardinals game, that I see. -

Maybin getting a lot of NY hype
Wayne Cubed replied to RunTheBall's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
See, both those things happened last year. You are aware that there are 11 people on a defense, and that there are other parts to a defense that can make that defense good. Just because their OLB is Maybin and the Jest defense is talented, that doesn't by definition make him talented. Talented defenses make less talented people look better than they really are. Maybe they honestly don't have any other pass rushing options as well? I mean, if Maybin was their answer to the pass rush, why did they go out a draft one this year, in the first round no less? Look, I don't think anyone here is saying that you think he'll become anything amazing. But you sure are talking up his 6 sacks. And you keep comparing him to the Bills. The Bills defense hasn't been nearly as good as the Jest, but Marcell a DT, who isn't a sack specialist had 5.5 sacks last year on an abysmal Bills defense, without the support Maybin had around him, to me thats something that deserves MUCH MUCH more hype. -
Yea, couldn't quite remember. My opinion is still that the pats* success comes/came from their line
-
That's a funny statement. They finished 31st overall in defense last year. Unless they did absolutely nothing, of course they will most likely get better. But the way you state it, makes it seem you believe they are top a top 10 defense now because of 2/3 rookies. How about we let these rookies play a down first?
-
Not that I'm defending the Pats* or Tom Brady, but Peyton Manning was able to do a lot with a suspect line and RB by committee in Indy. A great QB can make up for a lot of deficincies in an offense. Personally, I think what made the Patriots* so great over the years was their line. I think the proof of that is in the 2008 season, I know some posters want to say it was all Bellicheck, but he wasn't the one out there throwing the ball. Matt Cassell came in and the Patriots* didn't skip a beat, besides missing the playoffs with a 10-6 record. If the Patriots* line truly is falling apart, I think this team won't be nearly as competative as some sports writers would have you believe.

Maybin getting a lot of NY hype
Wayne Cubed replied to RunTheBall's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Answer to question 1: 6 Answer to question 2: 5.5 Does comparing Maybin to the Bills abysmal defense make any sense? How many sacks would he have had for the Bills last season? Are his sacks a product of the 5th best defense last year or his talent? Whats worse: Maybin, an OLB, on the 5th best defense leading the Jest in sacks with 6 or the fact that the Bills sack leader was a DT? The question game is fun -

Just a couple points... First, Maybe didn't join the Jest at week 4. As was stated by another poster already Second, I'm not sure why you brought up other players to compare Maybe to. Freeney has had 6, 10+ sack seasons and over 280+ tackles throughout his career. He's also 32 years old. At this point Maybe isn't worthy of holding his jock strap. The other ones you've listed have all done something that Maybe hasn't... They have gone out and proven they can have a 10+ sack season. Third, here are the lists of teams Maybe recorded a sack with... Buffalo(2), Baltimore(1), Miami(1), San Diego(1) and Washington(1)... Considering Buffalo's line was depleted because of injury when he had those 2 sacks and Washington's line was shown by the Bills to be suspect, 3 of those sacks came against very suspect lines. Is that really anything to hang your hat on? Fourth, Maybe didn't record a single stat in 6 of his games... let that sink in for a second. And if he wasn't starting or made the active roster, what does that tell you about his ability? Facts are facts and comparing him to an abismal Buffalo defense doesn't make your argument for him any better. Would he have had 6 sacks on the last years Bills defense? If I had to bet, I'd say surely not. In half of the games he recorded a stat(sack or tackle) the Jest lost anyways. So did his presence really help the Jest, at all? IMO, his stats are a reflection of a Jest defense that was 5th overall and nothing more. I don't think anyone here is truly hating on Maybe, they are just saying what they see. -
He's washed up and steroids has destroyed his career. Not to mention he rolled his ankle earlier, so there is no way possible he had a good practice. Also, thanks for the report uncle I appreciate everyone who gives TC updates seeing as I'm currently abroad and unable to get updates otherwise.

Bills Are Never On NFL Total Access
Wayne Cubed replied to DefenseWinzChampionshipz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
+1 The first week of training camp I tuned into NFLN training camp live hoping to see an update from various teams, including the Bills. It was the first day of camp and I believe only 11 teams camps had opened. I figured, since it wasn't every team starting camp on the same day, NFLN would be able to give an update from every team. Hell it was a 3 hour show, about training camps. Well I sat through the entire show and not only did they not cover the Bills, they didn't do any coverage with about 7 other teams as well. It was 3 hours of Broncos camp(Peyton Manning), Redskins camp(Bob Griffins first day) and Packers camps. It got super boring after about 30 mins, so why not go to othe camps???? Day 2 coverage was nearly identical. What annoys me is that the NFLN is owned by the NFL, which has 32 teams in it, correct me if I'm wrong. Shouldn't they be trying to "sell" the entire league, not just the relevent teams. It stands to reason that NFLN is for hardcore fans anyways, so why the hell wouldn't you cover every team? Sorry, I don't buy that whole "when we start winning...." statement. That statement applys to national media and ESPN, not a station run for diehard NFL fans by the NFL. -
