My Annual Thank You Post, and a few thoughts.....
Wayne Cubed replied to Bill from NYC's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Thanks Bill, don't always agree with you but I think that makes for good discussion and I still always read your thoughts after the games. -
Marrone yells to Russ "go ahead and fire me"
Wayne Cubed replied to papazoid's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Thats my take, when I first saw it tweeted, I thought it was a new argument. Just odd the timing considering it happened a week ago. And agree, win tomorrow and all of this is forgotten. -
Marrone yells to Russ "go ahead and fire me"
Wayne Cubed replied to papazoid's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Why is it the assumption that someone went to LaCanfora and not LaCanfora started digging about it on his own? It's not like this argument wasn't already out there, Rodak had written an article, so LaCanfora would know it happened and looking for a story, seeing as no one really investigated it, started digging about it. -

You are making an awful lot of assumptions. First, you are assuming that it was leaked from the inside the Bills to LaCanfora and "served up" to him. Yet, Florio, and I'm using him cause he's another national guy, gets a completely different story from "sources deep within." So which story is correct? I mean if someone "close to the team" leaked the story, you would think it would actually be the correct story and there wouldn't be multiple national sources. Multiple sources, including JW, have said the "fire me" comment was NOT made on the field of practice. So why would LaCanfora put that the article? Could it be for clicks? Who knows. Last I checked, LaCanfora is a reporter and has (see CJ Spiller trade) gotten stories wrong <gasp>. Maybe LaCanfora, looking for a story, heard about the argument and started doing his own digging, asking around, seeing what he could find. I mean geez the argument happened over a week ago, why wouldn't someone within the Bills release it when it happened, when tempers were the highest. I'm not saying you can put a positive spin on the argument, it happened. But to just believe the story at face value and then assume it came from inside without LaCanfora not doing a lick of work, seems odd, in my opinion. -

Except now Florio says it was about picking up Orton "so late in preseason". These national guys can't even get it right, but if Florio is close to the truth, Schoop and Bulldog are way off. http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2014/09/05/marrones-frustration-arises-from-orton-signing/ -
Chicago is the #2 selection on Yahoo's Survivor Pools
Wayne Cubed replied to TPS's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I went with Pittsburgh too. I mean at home against a pretty bad Cleveland offense, they'll have a field day. I think the Steelers won't have a problem running the ball either. -
It isn't just Kouandjio not starting....
Wayne Cubed replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Not unlike Cleveland who threw away there Julio Jones picks. -
They take TV timeouts after every kickoff... so it's not like he won't have a moment to catch his breath and get a drink.

Had a recruiter call me yesterday
Wayne Cubed replied to Captain Hindsight's topic in Off the Wall Archives
This. When I switched jobs last year, when asked about salary demands I gave a number that was 10% higher than my previous job. They weren't able to go that high, but gave me a little more than I was currently on and they cut my hours from 45 to 35 a week, making my rate per hour actually higher and gave me 10 more days vacation than I previously got. That was just enough to sway me and I asked if my salary could be reviewed after 6 months, which they accepted and I am now making more than 10% higher than I asked originally. I'm a lot happier on the lower hours and I still have vacation days left that I'm not sure what to do with. -
Wow, it's a great site. I enjoyed reading Brady Quinn's article on starting rookie QB's. Interesting that he says that a Hall of Fame coach says you should give a QB 3 years to determine if they can play or not. Don't think some fans in Buffalo can wait that long.
-
What's the difference in CJ, breaking open a 20 yard run, at full speed and getting tackled AND returning a kickoff and getting tackled? Yes, the guys on kickoff are coming at him full speed, but IMO thats no different than a Safety coming up from his safety spot, so he has a head of steam, and meeting CJ in he hole or outside. He's a RB, should be used to and built for taking bigger hits and knows how to absorb the hits.

Is John Murphy Delusional or What?
Wayne Cubed replied to patfitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Delusional? Not at all. Have a different opinion than you? Yes. Is that swayed by the fact that he works for the Bills? Probably. But he isn't all "gung-ho" that Manuel will most definitely be a franchise QB and people should just shut up. He admits and admitted that Manuel didn't show enough in the preseason. Where his opinion probably differs from you and from others fans is, he believes its a process and that 10 games aren't enough to determine Manuel's future. So he's willing to wait and see. Nothing wrong with that opinion. Hell, that's my opinion, doesn't make me delusional. If you don't like his opinion, don't listen, it's easy. There are plenty, and I mean plenty, of Buffalo/Rochester sports radio hosts who believe Manuel is not a franchise caliber QB. -
Well it's kind of hard to compare them otherwise. Nick Foles is going on his third year in the league, EJ is on his second. So one can easily compare there 2nd preseason, because they both have had that. Are you saying we should compare Nick Foles now to EJ now? Are you saying you knew Nick Foles was going to have an amazing season based on last years preseason?
-
Yea, preseason stats mean very little. Just thought it was funny how similar Foles was last year, in his 2nd NFL preseason, and EJ is this year in preseason. And Foles was facing more 2/3's because Vick was figured to be the starter.
-
Foles preseason stats from 2013, his 2nd NFL season: 27/42 (64%) for 271 yards(6.4 YPA) and 0 TDs 0 INTs EJ Manuel 2014 preseason (games 1-4): 48/75 (64%) for 498 yards(6.6 YPA) and 1 TD 2 INTs You sure about that?

Perception of the Team. From an Ex Bills Fan
Wayne Cubed replied to Dr. Trooth's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
He can't, he wasn't a fan of the Steelers when they actually won those championships... Why not just pick the team that just won the Super Bowl, then you can feel all warm and fuzzy about "your team". -
Perception of the Team. From an Ex Bills Fan
Wayne Cubed replied to Dr. Trooth's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
When the Bills win a SB, yes it'll happen, you'll feel like such a dick. And I hope it happens soon, seeing as you've only been a Stillers fan for 4 seasons, that way it'll sting that much more. You gave up on 40 years of being a fan and then have the balls to come back and criticize? -
Sure, he got his TD's against a Seattle defense that wasn't game planning and had some starters out there. But that's not why he's starting the season, IMO. Schaub has looked terrible, not unlike when Kolb was here, and Carr has looked good when playing, again not unlike when EJ played last year. The Raiders really had no choice but to go with Carr, but it remains to be seen if he will look good in week 1 and in the rest of the season. It's just a bit early to be saying the Bills made a mistake in not drafting him.
-
No offense, but if you watched the game then you saw his first TD pass was thrown against CB Phillip Adams, who was dropped by the Seahawks on Saturday and is now with the Jest. Wouldn't exactly call him a starter. His second TD was against Malcolm Smith who is a backup OLB for Seattle. Again not a starter Were there starters on the field as well? Sure, Carr completed a pass against Richard Sherman. But to say he scored against starters at will is patently false. It was a mix of starters/non-starters and certainly wasn't any indication of what he Seattle defense will play like in week1.
-
Maybe he is and maybe he isn't, the problem is we have no idea until the regular season starts. Sure he looked good against 2nd/3rd string players but Jeff Tuel looked good against 2nd/3rd string players in his rookie preseason. Many rookie QBs have looked "good" in their first preseason only to flop when it counts. And it's great that his Center thinks so highly of him and his ability to read defenses, which by the way they weren't game planning. Do you honestly think he could score 3 TDs so easily against one of the best defenses in the league(Seattle)? I get that it's exciting to see a rookie QB start and have promise but the Same exact coaches thought Matt McGloin, Terelle Pryor were starters and traded for Matt Flynn to start. The truth is they made another lousy QB decision in signing Schaub, who is on a downward spiral, and are now going with the rookie because what other choice do they have?
-
This might be interesting to revisit AFTER Carr has played an actual regular season game. And just because the Raiders are choosing to start him doesn't mean he isn't still "raw" and "needs to develop".
