  1. I agree mostly with your post; however I feel that Chan is going to have the play calling done to his advantage or to the strengths of the offense. This being said, many screen calls and quick outpasses only to get the other teams to back off the blitzing. If we establish a run game (which I see us doing better than most think) early then that will open play action pass and a deep pass to Easley as well. I think that our first game will be nothing but short passes and screens along with 2-3 yard runs. We will try to hit a deep pass a few times as well. Fitz will throw a pick or two but the offensive line will hold it's own. I also think our deffense will come up really big and we will be a head the whole game and easily win this one. Buffalo got better than last year as KC will not be as good. Buffalo will win this one 24-17. They get to 17 with a couple minutes left, so the game will not be as close as many think. Cassel will be hurting as we shut down the run game quick and early and Fitz hits Easley early on to give us a lead that we keep all game.
  2. You know when free agency started, the league of dynasties started faling. Teams like the Rams and the Titans came out no where and went to the bowl. Just look at the Cardinals when Warner went there. Any given Sunday is true, but to say the Bills are that is far fetched to me. To say the Bills will be competitive and fun and will be in most games, I say yes. I also say two years and we can be contenders for years to come. My previous post said in 2012 we would be undefeated because when the season is over, Dec. 21 2012 the world will end... Soryy for joking but feel the Bills are on the rise bigtime and 8-8 is a good season and they will be fun to watch no less.
  3. In my opinion I think Bell will be okay for the season. He's not an all pro and the Bills won't spend the money on a all pro until Ralph is gone because we won't get a franchise qb until then. This being said, the Bills will eventually need a qb. People say luck but I think two years or so more. Until then Buffalo will only get mid level picks with a couple high profile guys to make us some what competitive. Look at the Sabres and tell me the Bills aren't the same. All we can do is hold off and wait on Pegula to buy the Bills after he gets the Sabres the Cup. Sorry but just my opinion.
  4. Many people on this board has been saying how bad we looked in Denver. I think by putting Levtre in at LT might be an answer. He's played it before and knows the position. He's tough and and most of all plays consistant like Chan wants. I'm not saying Bell is that bad either. Bell was burned a couple times and this might be a wake up call to get him going. I really think Bell starts on Saturday and Levitre fills in at times as well. Some people need to get reminded that their job is not secure. I think Bell will end up the starter unless Levitre just blows them away at tackle and earns that spot. Either way I feel our line will be better this year and fine. The Bills will give up sacks and not be the best, but feel they wont be the worse either. Just a fact to everyone and no I'm not saying the Bills are the same as this team, but believe it or not the Packers had the worst offensive line in the NFL when they went to the big dance and won it. Jackso needs to relax and know that this team will want competition. I agree with him and feel he has been given a raw deal by Chan but also think Chan knows what he has in Jackson to get the job done. Does it matter who starts at RB? It's obvious that the formation will dictate who gets put in. Fred is a beast and most know this, he should relax and know that his job is safe as a Bill. Maybe Chan should speak more to them than he is, I do not know but hope it gets worked out in the long run.
  5. I don't think Spiller will be considered a starter over Jackson or Jackson over Spiller. It will depend on the scheme that Chan puts in will determine who starts. Plus it will go down to how many touches they get over who does what first. They both will get their share so who starts doesn't get me. Also we have 2 preseason games left. I think Chan will start to mix it up and we should start to see the offense put up points this week on out. Statiscally speaking the more teams win in the preseason the deeper they go in the playoffs. I feel a shift is in the works wth this because some teams hardly play their starters like Indy and such. If Buffalo doesn't put up points in the next game then I might get worried a little. I fight this over with my brother( a bigger fan than me) but he makes a good point of not getting worried in the preseason but won't speak after a loss for a few days. (Proof he's from Buffalo) but I really think Chan is making sure what his weaknesses are and will be fine tuning them the next two games for the opening season. I am hoping for this, but with that being said feel the Bills are no contenders YET! I still think a couple years out but are build a very strong front to make us very good in a couple years. I stand by a 8-8 season.
  6. BB- I'm not saying they played great, and yes they made mistakes. This is what the preseason is about. You can't fix a problem or find a weakness if you can't identify it. I really agree that the offensive line was horrible and that Fitz looked like Schmitt. I did like the fact that in a base if you watched Miller for Denver he was placed around the field. This being said Fox and company used stunts and packages. If the Bills hardly used any stunts to pick things up and stayed in a base formation; it shows what they did by themselves as individuals. Bell looks very weak and even Wood looked like he got whipped a few times. Very bad play and I expect nothing but improvements on the coaching staff to see our weakness and come up with a better blocking scheme to assist with our tackles. I seen Chandler miss a few times as well and that to be fixed. I really think the last 2 preseason games will be more of a tweaking our plays and execution of the plays other than base fronts. That means we score more points or better score more points.
  7. If we looked at the game against Denver, Buffalo did not play that bad. Chan Gailey said himself, they just used a base front on both sides of the ball. That being said, the Bills looked much improved. Denver played stunts and also mixed up their defense while Buffalo just stuck to their base and never tried anything too fancy or didn't even stunt the whole game. This gives me hope that Chan and company took everyone at their basic formation and said let's see what you have. I like this approach because Buffalo is still rebuilding and they will have another year or two before they get better. I like the fact that the Bills stopped the run, and we are able to run the ball a little better. Spiller needs to step up his protection to Fitz, but Jackson just flattened Miller on a play that gave me a rise. Our line will be fine because Chan seen how they were beaten badly in a base without stunts they will be beaten many times over. This being said, I expect this year to have many slant passes with screens and 3 step drops. This is a good thing because Buffalo will eat the clock up with long drives and will be a bit boring at times but my guess productive. We will not be the pats and down field pass at will type stuff, but short gains and quick 5-6 yard plays. If we really watched, the first drive they ate that clock up and I think it was view of what is coming. I'm happy with that especailly if our defense can stay off the field and when their on it, stop the run. Go ahead and bash, but I think Chan did a great job to evaluate this team and not try stunts like Denver did. Great job Chan. Now prove me right and win at least 8 for us buddy.
  8. What the Bills do every year looks very similar to what the Sabres have done for years. The Sabres in free agency never took a good player. Reiger just spoke of now with a new owner, he opened the books and let them do what they have to do to win and make the Sabres the very best. Now they have the largest payroll in the NHL. Why does this have anything to do with the topic? Sabre fans were pissed and use to B word about how Reiger was holding the team back, but he said things have changed and the Sabres now go after top tier free agents and in the past weren't allowed to go after them but 2nd and 3rds. What if Nix has his hands tied because Ralph simply says no? In my opinion it starts with the owner, so instead of bashing Nix and company go ask Ralph.
  9. Who gives a schmitt! We have Dareus and he's shown he's the real deal. I would have taken him over Newton any day of the year. This is a crazy thread and makes no point. I like who we drafted this year and like what we did last year. I also think the Bills are and have changed thoings around for the better. We can look at the grass as being greener, but look at the plate now compared to laste year and ask if the Bills aren't better. All the critics in the world will always say Buffalo sucks because we have no oline and no qb. The fact is we had no defense last year. This year has shown a major improvement. I believe in what Nix is doing and what Chan is doing. Chan is an offensive guy so he will always pick offense first logically. I think Nix did the very best thing and brought in a guy who will and can change the game now. Not tomorrow but now. I hope Cam is a bust along with Miller for the Broncos. That way we look even better for grabbing a stud we needed. His play will only make Williams better along with Merriman. When was the last time Buffalo recorded 9 sacks in a game? That might be almost half of what they did all last year. Think about that one......
  10. I can easily see us going 8-8. If Buffalo goes 8-8 that is a good year. Chan will most likely say it wasn't but Buffalo can't compete with NE or the Jets as of now. I think Buffalo will beat the Jets this year only because Chan is building a winning team, and is not there yet but will be. Our defense alone will be much more improved and that will winn a couple of games. Everyone keeps saying the NFC East will kill us, but I feel differently. The NFC east is a throwing division not a AFC north division which all about the run. That being said, Buffalo will and can compete with those guys because our oline should be able to hold the front for a running game, keeping them off the field and letting them score as much. As for our division, I see 2-4 and of course most likely getting swept by the pats, but we still might get lucky this year. If the Bills happen to get lucky and make the playoffs that will be incredible, so for them to have a good year is going 8-8. I think next year is a playoff year. Wait next year is 2012, so the Bills will be going undefeated until the end of the world happens in 2012..... You heard it hear first. Just the Buffalo way......
  11. If it's true Ralph can say we give Shawn a pass on roids since Roger talked Vick to go elsewhere? Sounds like a good to me if the stupid Shawn thing turns out to be true..... Just saying
  12. What many fans on here don't realize is that Lee may be one of the best deep threats in the league, but Buffalo will have many more options to attack. Lee was a great deep receiver but he couldn't run routes and Chan has stated so many times. Easley has to step up his game and if he shows a deep threat, then Buffalo will be just fine. One of Buffalo's strong points is the receiver position, and if Chan needed Lee then he would have stayed, and truly believe this. Maybe this is why they kept him so long and didn't give him away sooner is they needed to see if someone else was going to step it up. I believe Jones will step up, and put Easley out there, we will have 4 receivers that can catch. Johnson, Jones, Easly, Parrish, and put Spiller in a slot with Chandler and that spread offense sound pretty sick to me and dangerous. Will they put a LB on Spiller or Parrish? That will be an easy 5 yard slant with room to run and guess what. You now have Spiller or Parrish in the open with room to run, and they can explode. I see this happening a lot and that will keep the defenses from unloading on Fitz because he only takes a 3 step drop. Starting to sound sick to me. I can't wait.......
  13. This is just one school. The NCAA itself is a cheating lying BS deal all together. The NCAA should be under investigation for the bowl games and cash received for putting the bowl games in order like they do. That's another topic but The U isn't alone and if the NCAA really wanted to stop these things from getting worse then the agents themselves should face being banned from colleges if they help cheat or get players money. Why punish a school for the players? Why not hit the people doing these acts like team up with the NFL and ban them from pro sports if they take such bennies along with the agents? Simple answer is the NFL wouldn't have enough players to play if they imposed such rules. This is all politics and someone was caught and cried for a plea.
  14. I can't disagree enough about the this. The Bills are a better team than KC. We went into OT with a makeshift oline and a horrible defense. Our defense will be much more improved. How is so many people saying the Bills are just as equal as last year? Remember the Bills got rid of some key players on defense; let's really look at it. Stroud- was a great player for the 4-3 not a 3-4 DE. He moved over shed some weight and was out of position most of the time Poz- tackling machine, but 5 yards down field because the front dline was so poor Whitner- great tackler, but not a top 5 player by any means This year the Bills have Marcell, who is a beast that will most likely be a pro bowler if he produces as advertised in time. Upgrade over Stroud. Barnett- just as equal to Poz but better in coverages Troupe- not a rookie and knows the system and will have a much better impact, plus really put on muscle this off season and the coaches noticed. Carrington- Put on muscle and has been showing that he can play and is bigger and more experienced this year. Lights Out Sean M.- after the first drive I think it's safe to say he's back to old form and showed it. Even if he wasn't a huge upgrade from Keith Ellison (6-2, and 220lbs). Buffalo has more size, push and experience from last year. Not to mention Dave Mustache Wanny who will keep the defense aligned right for George Edwards. This team is not a playoff team that will go deep, but 8-8 is not out of the picture.
  15. I can agree that Marv is to blame many things on with the Bills, but not 10 years worth. Marv had nothing to do with Williams or Tom, but I do blame him for the DJ time and now. The reasoning why is because when they brought in Dick, we switched to a 4-3. Since then we have been playing catch up. The drafts were just horrible and just now starting to get better. I think that most if not 99% of the people on this board can easily say it's not all Marv and just being named Marv gets a pass on this board. It was he who helped bring this team up from nothing and brought them to glory. I would really think twice about bashing Marv because of what he he did to the Bills. If he failed, he did so with his head up high so I can easily forgive him for not producing an outstanding team. The one I blame the most of is Ralph Wilson. All fingers need to start at the top, but he has kept the Bills in Buffalo so how much bashing can you do to someone who kept a team in Buffalo when he could have moved long ago? Very tough thread of bashing people because if they weren't around at all, the Bills wouldn't be around so I guess this is a typical thread of bash people for nothing.
  16. I can see it becoming Easley. I agree that Kelsey gets hit enough so he shouldn't count. Easley because he was hurt all last year and now he got hurt again a little bit. Why so serious can be in the running if he drops a few big ones and doesn't produce but I hope it's not.
  17. I agree about Bell, but Sean M. is going to be fine. Takeo Spikes is in his 14th season, and he's never been to a playoff; but he had his tendon torn, many said he was finished and he's still in there doing his thing. I think Lights out will be lights out. Granted it was justa preseason game against a very questionable Oline. He felt good and you seen that. I think Buffalo does just fine this year, if Bell holds up. That does bother me knowing we don't have a backup. I think Nix should have at least grabbed one in free agancy for insurance but who knows.
  18. If you drive to Buffalo and give me 50 wings, you'll have to drive another 650 miles to CT and drop them off. I will save this post because the schedule is easier than most think.
  19. Buffalo didn't get a good deal out of this, but with Easley being stronger and faster; Johnson being a rising star, only made Lee easy to push out. Many people on this board love Lee as do I, but if we look at it as a business deal; getting rid of Lee makes sense. Lee is getting old, and has trouble in tight coverage and is mainly a deep threat. I bet Chan talked it over and said they have Easley to spread the field and Johnson to find a way to get open; with Chandler coming into play and Parrish in the slot, we can afford to move Lee. Take in Nelson as well it's not that bad of a move, but we shold have gotten an easy third rounder for Lee, and anything less is not considered decent. Nix should open;ly appoligize for saying if it makes the team better; because he just ate his words with the trade. I'm not bashing Nix for getting rid of Lee and I loved Lee and hope he takes the Ravens to the big dance; I am saying he got Buffalo a raw deal with the draft pick we will be getting.
  20. OMG they killed Kenny! I take South Park over a non Bills preseason game also...
  21. Promo I agree. Fat Mike did say we got punched in the mouth last year on defense. He was right, but Buffalo needs to be overlooked. It was the Ravens who said they had an easy game with Buffalo, then a bi-week last year and we took them to overtime because they looked at us like a joke. Let it happen again this year. I also feel this gives the Bills players more will to be better because they're looked at like a joke. That is a huge motivation factor.
  22. I know Chris Carter was a good receiver, but Buffalo is deep with receivers and Carter was wrong. I also feel Carter has man love for the fins. All in all, I think skinny Mike didn't slam the Bills like most would, and he kind of said some decent things like we stuck in there. What he should have said is because we were so close to winning so many, and he did say we should win some of those close ones is they should be much more improved and at least very fun to watch. I highly doubt the Bills get blown out this year, and most if not all will be good games to watch.
