Panthers request to interview Dorsey for HC
hondo in seattle replied to Process's topic in The Stadium Wall
Funny. I just told a friend that I'm still not sold on Dorsey as an OC though I'm hoping for future growth. Yet an NFL franchise thinks he's ready to be a HC. -
What really effs up a DC is facing an offense that can attack all parts of the field. It's great that Josh can dink-n-dunk. It's great the running game is getting better. But Josh needs to be healthy and get back on his vertical game so defenses have to defend the length and breadth of the field. The Pats game looked like progress!

Thoughts on the pass defense?
hondo in seattle replied to Bermuda Triangle's topic in The Stadium Wall
Frazier's scheme is fine. Just look at the defensive stats since he's been here. This season, our D was decimated by key injuries. Miller and Hyde out for of the year. White out for much of the year and just now maybe rounding into form. Milano, Poyer, and Edmunds have all missed games. It feels like when a defensive player gets hurt, it's always one of our most-impactful, most-needed defenders. Even so, PFF has us with the 4th best defensive DVOA in the league. We would have been #1 if our defensive stars could have stayed reasonably healthy. Given the injuries to Hyde and Miller and my doubts about White being fully recovered, I do worry about our D in the playoffs. -
final DVOA stats up - Bills #1 overall
hondo in seattle replied to dave mcbride's topic in The Stadium Wall
I find PFF's results surprising. The Bills just haven't looked like a dominant team in the second of the season. Too many inconsistent performances at too many position groups. Then again, every team this year has weaknesses. -
I’m kind of Over the Hines Experiment

I'm over the experiment too. Its not an experiment anymore. We've moved past that to the game time TD phase. -
Revisiting the Tre White to Safety thread
hondo in seattle replied to HOUSE's topic in The Stadium Wall
Tre does what Tre does really well when fully healthy. I'm just hoping he reaches 100% soon. I don't think Tre can do what Poyer and Hyde have done so well: play FS and SS interchangeably. Though I suppose it's not too crazy to say desperate times require desperate measures. Hyde's out. Hamlin's out. Poyer's playing on a torn meniscus... Lady Luck can be a b*tch. Our four best defensive weapons against the pass (Poyer, Hyde, White, Miller) are either out entirely or playing hurt. -
What if the Bills refuse to play the Patriots?
hondo in seattle replied to HOUSE's topic in The Stadium Wall
At some point... life goes on. We've probably all worked shortly after the death of loved ones. Damar is alive and recovering. And players need to regain some normalcy. I think the NFL was very supportive of the team when Damar got hurt. But I don't think they'd be as supportive if we wanted to cancel yet another game. -
I agree, its BS. But that's how it's playing out. Unless the NFL figures out a fair way to complete the Bills-Bengals game, the Chiefs have more wins, a better win percentage, and thus homefield advantage. I don't know if extending the season by a week to allow the Bills-Bengals game to be completed is logistically realistic. If so, great. Otherwise, you have to assign wins and losses as they happened. I'm hoping for a KC loss this week.

What Bengals & Chiefs fans are saying about the situation:
hondo in seattle replied to BigDingus's topic in The Stadium Wall
I sat in Arrowhead last season, wearing my Allen jersey, when the Bills demolished the Chiefs in regular season, surrounded by Chief fans. They were nothing but class. They asked me about our team. They complimented our players. They congratulated me on our win. They were unerringly polite. Saying their fanbase is "complete trash" is silly hyperbole. Like teams everywhere, they have good and bad fans. My personal experience when I lived in KC is that they're mostly good. -
I feel the Bills-Bengals game should be a no-contest simply because that was what it was. Circumstances beyond either team's control caused the game to end in the 1st quarter. Neither team earned a win or loss. The playoffs should be determined by win-loss percentage as normal (with the Bills and Bengals having each played only 16 games). There's nothing random about this. Each team will be evaluated against the record they truly earned.

This is why I was against the OBJ signing. A team can only afford so many big money contracts.

Bills prevail in a tough battle 27 to 24.

If we want to tie into the old days, how about James "Cookie" Cook. "Lookie, Lookie, Here comes Cookie..."
-
KC is tied for the AFC lead. They have Reid for a coach and Mahomes for a QB. I don't think they're overhyped. Vegas still has us - with the same W-L record as KC - as the Super Bowl favorites. 538 has us as as the AFC favorite to reach the SB. Cinci made the SB last year and are strong again this year yet aren't getting much love. Maybe we're overhyped?

NFL Week #15 - Fish at Buffalo - Post Game Thread
hondo in seattle replied to BuffaloBill's topic in The Stadium Wall
Why post here. We already know. You should post on a Fins board. -
At this point last season, Bills were 7-6
hondo in seattle replied to Kaenon's topic in The Stadium Wall
Fingers crossed. We started the year winning pretty and lately we've been winning ugly. Good preparation for postseason. If we get reasonably healthy for the playoffs, especially Josh's elbow, we can make a run! -
Exactly. This is one reason I don't want OBJ. With only so many cap dollars to go around, I'd rather spend on a bodyguard for Josh that can double as hole-makes for our backs.

Jerry Sullivan crosses the line. Comments against women.
hondo in seattle replied to Draconator's topic in The Stadium Wall
I haven't posted on this thread till now. I don't hate Jerry. But a long time ago, I decided to stop reading him. He never had inside information. He never provided deep analysis. He simply whined. Of course, there was a lot to complain about during the drought. Some of his criticisms were accurate. But even when the Bills beat a more talented team, he'd find something to complain about. He could find a dark cloud even on the sunniest of days. I didn't find his writing to be either educational or enjoyable. So I didn't bother with him. As for what he said about women, it was clearly misogynistic and an offense to many good female Bills fans who deserve better.
