  1. I bet he's cut by noon tomorrow. The new Commanders owner isn't like the old Commanders owner.
  2. Coach: Rex Ryan. He and the Bills should have both known better - coaches who get fired, especially after 4-12 seasons, need a year to recharge and reassess. He was all hat no cattle as the Bills coach, and had a lot of subpar assistants who were lousy teachers. I was annoyed at how penalized his Bills teams were. Player: Marcel Dareus: 2016 onwards. All that unrealized potential, especially after that fantastic 2014 season under Marrone. He tailed off in 2015 during the later half of that season and that was a sign of things to come.
  3. 26 years. His contract expired and it was not renewed. https://nypost.com/2024/05/23/sports/espns-ed-werder-out-after-26-years-in-stunning-development/ https://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/nfl/2024/05/23/ed-werder-longtime-cowboys-nfl-reporter-leaving-espn/73818693007/
  4. I think players like Deion Jones, Dawuane Smoot, Chase Claypool and MVS need fantastic camp performances to avoid practice squad. I expect Von Miller to perform well this year, but this year will be it. I think what's left in the tank is 2024. He'll give it his all because he doesn't want to go out with those 2023 stats.
  5. I see Hollins as the new special teams captain, not necessarily a WR that will see game time catching balls barring injury. I see Isabella and Hamler as returners. Bills will pick one of the two. I see Claypool and Cephus as solids to their agents. They may have great camps but really this is about the Bills giving them an opportunity. MVS, Shorter and Shavers are my picks for that WR4 position at this juncture, with a lean towards the guys who've been here. Bills have had every opportunity to move on from Shorter and Shavers and have not.
  6. Interesting question. I'd say no, as the NFL very likely still had substantially higher TV viewership and merchandise sales. I think the one area where the NBA really took off was in mainstream fashion - you saw NBA jerseys and hats being worn on TV shows and in music videos, everybody was wearing the black Nike sneakers, and NBA stars besides Jordan had shoes - Larry Johnson, David Robinson, etc. However, the 1990s were the apex of the NBA's popularity, ever. Has never seen the heights of popularity it did this decade. While the 90s will always be the decade of Jordan's Bulls, there were compelling teams and storylines that drew in viewers from all over the United States: The last year of the Bad Boys Pistons The Houston Rockets back to backs in 1994-1995 The tantalizing good, almost great teams - Malone/Stockton Jazz, Drexler's Blazers, Ewing's Knicks The tease of the O'Neal/Hardaway Magic The start of the Spurs dynasty
  7. In addition to Coleman, the room is full. I don't think the Bills are going to keep adding players to this part of the team. If you assume Samuel, Shakir, Coleman are locks for the opening day roster, there's maybe one player that makes the gameday roster. The rest go to PS or get released.
  8. Sure. I think sometimes these signings are more of favors to agents. You can't coach attitude and work ethic.
  9. I don't think it's just you. When the public financed a stadium for the Bills, IMO, the ownership situation became information to the public interest. My #1 fear about the Bills for years has been Terry Pegula passes unexpectedly and chaos unfolds in the aftermath.
  10. Spy Hunter N.A.R.C. WWF Wrestlemania Rampage After Burner
  11. A lot of these guys will be waiting until November to sign contracts. Some of these guys are so old - they are fortunate that the newer November FA period has become a thing. It is extending a career that otherwise would be over.
  12. Matt Ryan will join NFL Today. https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/former-nfl-mvp-quarterback-matt-ryan-joining-cbs-sports-the-nfl-today/
  13. I think the emphasis on offense shifted to keeping the opposing team's offense off the field for as much of the game as possible - the Philadelphia Eagles strategy. The run sets up the pass. With that strategy, you need possession receivers to get the difficult 3rd and 8s, not necessarily track stars for the 50-yard bombs. Keep the defense rested to defend against the expected Burrow/Mahomes shenanigans in the 4th quarter.
  14. I give it a D. Weird strategy this year. To me, seemed like a strategy solely focused on cost controlled depth of decent football players and lottery tickets.
  15. Terrible choice.
  16. Winner: Bill Belichick: I really enjoyed his commentary. Loser: Falcons. Too much faith in Raheem Morris with the selection of a QB in the first round.
  17. I think Atlanta's move for Penix was 100% stupid. That move puts a lot of misplaced faith IMO in Raheem Morris (and his 17-31 head coaching record) being there even two years from now.
  18. I voted yes because he did not draft athletes with low football production (Chop Robinson, Marshawn Kneeland), or take a one year wonder who's 95% athlete, 5% football player (e.g. Legette). I probably wouldn't have done business with the Chiefs, but it was a solid business decision.
  19. I picked a trade up to 11-20 (for Cooper Dejean).
  20. You take the receiver with the superior route running intelligence and ability. That's the difference maker in the NFL. That's McConkey here.
  21. It's not bad but it's boring. When is the last time a team's jersey or helmet stunned fans? The Bucs when they went to maroon and pewter? There doesn't seem to be room for creativity and inspiration anymore in jersey and helmet design. This Broncos design was likely built in a design house (a firm) where it was debated around a conference table with attendees murdering the conversation with jargon. At least one, if not two, mentions of VPs "taking the conversation offline" were deployed. I'm sometimes convinced they make the "regular" jerseys bland to sell more of the much cooler retro stuff everyone actually likes. "That's just too big of a D for me", one said. This is one of the best helmet designs IMO. The 1970s Broncos helmet with the light blue.
  22. I've had a long standing theory that Bills (and Sabres) ownership is more fragile than it appears. It does not surprise me to see this announcement. Terry is in his early 70s, Kim's status as owner is unknown, and none of the five kids are easy to spot heir apparent to running the menagerie of companies he has in his portfolio. What you really don't want to see is Terry pass unexpectedly, and the ownership is transacted by the family to the highest bidder. That's a nightmare Bon Jovi scenario. The likelihood of the Bills being owned by someone like Terry with a deep appreciation of Buffalo and western New York is slim in that scenario.
  23. No NFL owner is hiring a 72-year old guy to a be the head coach of their franchise. The wildest scenario where BB would be hired would be a talent-rich team that was underperforming and that team made a moonshot coaching change during the season. He should enjoy his good years of health and enjoy cashing those network checks. I think he'll be a surprisingly good TV personality.
  24. Should do a Top Ten character actor/actresses list. Walton Goggins would be on mine. He's an actor who makes whatever he's in better.
  25. My votes: Internal combustion engine Mechanical refrigeration (which leads to mechanical air conditioning) Anesthesia
