And STILL have a 3rd...
-
Almost word for word, just said the same in the other thread....everyone quick on the post
-
I agree that probably just in time, Glenn made his value known to the team and when others started asking, they set the bar really high believing it wouldn't be met but if so....then they would take a long, hard look to see the return value. They are building for the future, I don't think there's anyway to interpret their actions in any other light, but they're not stupid either - at least they haven't shown us they are - and saavy, which is nice to say about a Bills FO. So, I think they decided short of a true "haul", they were content to see Glenn back next year and keep moving forward.

If there was a Colts WR to get, it'd be him and NOT K-Y.....fits more of the mold McD and Beane like in a WR
-
No thank you....I can see adding a WR, especially if Thompson is out, but not K-Y.....I'd rather take a shifty, quick WR that is perfect for the slot and let the big guys battle on the outside

Who do you root for tonight? KC vs DEN

Denver....but I don't see it...hopefully I'm wrong...which if you ask my wife, is always. -
Glenn shouldn't be going anywhere IMHO...LT has long been one of those areas where the Bills just kept getting rid of good players only to replace them in the Draft or try to in FA and fail....longevity and success in the NFL need to come together at some point and Glenn has been a good player, a good teammate from the lack of noise, and not an issue of the field. You can keep him, and focus on other areas. Even Center is becoming an area of need based on Wood's play and contract. RT / RG and Center should be the focus somehow, whether that's moving Henderson or Dawkins...and then as everyone else said, long-term solution to QB, adding WR and RB and of course the every year, LB and Corner / Safety....if Clay goes, they'll need to add a TE somehow also. And, I think Clay goes mostly due to contract unless he restructures.

Just stop....it's like....you're paying attention. C'mon....be better.

Steelers too scared to trade MB to Bills
BigBuff423 replied to Jobot's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
^^^^^both of those.....especially the second to the 1000th power.....I'm all for a guy being given a 2nd chance...but after all of his off-field issues, then to complain about a team who kept him despite those issues, go have a conversation with Karlos Williams about staying employed in the NFL after a few chances to get his sh*t together. -
Which is just one more reason why marriage proposals DURING the game should probably wait...and maybe, not go on the big screen....good advice.
-
Seriously, so many of us were wrong. Good for McD knowing and trusting what he saw....ST has been huge for Bills this year, likely the difference in most of these games.
-
All good.
-
Yeah, ok...so you disagree, but really? C'mon....he wasn't anywhere near unable to stop prior to launching himself at Flacco.
-
And to each his own, but I strongly disagree. Hey, IMO there are far too many rules nowadays about what a Defender can and can't do...I sound old, but back in the day, you tried to knock a receiver's teeth out if he came across the middle, you could actually sack the QB and the game played like a physical sport more then than today....but, as for the intentional head shot on a sliding QB, yeah Kiko could have done it differently, he just knew he was going to get away with a dangerous play....as for Kiko going over the top of him, well yeah - had Flacco slid 2 yards earlier he couldn't even be touched, but re-watch the play, Kiko lunged as Flacco was sliding...he knew. No convincing me otherwise. It was dirty, cheap and childish. http://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/21174506/baltimore-ravens-qb-joe-flacco-big-hit You can see if you pause the video in the link, Flacco starts slide about the 13, in full slide by the latest at 11, and Kiko launches from the 9....sorry, he knew what he was doing.
-
Kiko certainly knew what he was doing was within the letter of the law, but certainly not the spirit of it either.....here's why IMO; let's assume Kiko was trying to make a football play and tackle a runner with the ball, then his hit would have gone right into the knees of that player, especially someone of Joe Flacco's stature. Additionally, he led with the shoulder to the head "area", knowing his shoulder does not constitute a penalty, but hoped to hit somewhere in the head area other wise why not wrap him up, like you would a true runner....in other words, he knew what he was doing was bad, just not so bad to be ejected. And he was right...he knew he was taking the penalty....I liked Kiko when he was here, because he played with passion - and it was on display last night - but since he left, I've only watched him a few times, but in every game he pushes the roughing envelope because I think he gets frustrated and loses his head.....excuse the pun.

I cannot imagine the pain and suffering a father must feel in a situation like this....my little girl is my whole world, and to think about this kind of tragedy is unfathomable to me....terribly sad.

^^^Hahaha!!! Truth! -
I have no issue either way....I use FB to log-in to a variety of other sites / apps. However, whether someone sees this as a positive or a negative, it would remove a layer of anonymity for the member. Facebook accounts of course can be fake, I had one for law enforcement purposes, but usually the average person uses something close to their name and then of course pictures etc. that reveal who they are. Again, doesn't matter to me either way, but if that's an issue for some, it's something to think about.

Now, it remains to be seen what Beane and company can do with a 5th Round pick, but our own Kyle Williams was a 5th, Richard Sherman, Gillislee, Trent Cole, Antonio Brown was a 6th round pick, Robert Mathis, Kam Chancellor, Rodney Harrison, Hershel Walker, and the list goes on...some more relevant in today's NFL than others, but other than AB those are just 5th round picks...consider, 6th, 7th, and UDFA and those numbers go up....point being, a 5th round pick in the hands of the right GM can be gold. Truthfully, we just don't know yet with Beane...

No, my point being that FO was not here when Thompson was here last time, nor of course the HC, and that bringing about the knowledge that the two knew each other (and I presume teammates on some level), is the point that I was making. Yes, he was here when Tyrod was here, but the high school information was not something I was aware of, and therefore brought into new light and that such history adds to the ability of a WR being able to produce in the 1st week with the team, as seen on Sunday.
-
I liked Streator not only for WR help, but good Special Teams too. On the Thompson bit, this extra info about knowing each other in high school adds to the level of competency IMO about the Front Office, as it's something we haven't seen in a long time at OBD, which is competence. I really liked Thompson when he was here in Buffalo, and for the life of me didn't understand why they cut him and then watching him play on Sunday makes me wonder even more. But alas, even if it was just for one game, he showed chemistry does matter with the QB and he and Taylor had it for at least his first game. Hope it continues.

Drought will end: Taylor is here to stay.......for now
BigBuff423 replied to Mikie2times's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
+1....this is truth. Tyrod needs to be who he is, despite the fact that I do NOT believe him to be a quality NFL QB, he has to stay true to who he is, because what little he can do - is done by his athleticism. So, no matter what I still want the Bills to Draft a QB in 1st or 2nd round and make him the future QB for the Bills, but for this year, unless he falls apart I can understand staying with Tyrod. Not that I don't think Peterman can be a good QB - but keeping Tyrod for the rest of the year at this point - barring the wheels coming off - is understandable and probably helps the team the most. -
I don't know that I agree with the OP sentiments. For one, Gaines has been in and out with injuries and the turnovers have been consistent through the first 6 games, which is an important part of Defense so to dismiss it or slight it by saying it's a "consolation" to me is misleading. Second, Offenses are seeing they can't run very well on this Defense so they are passing more, which unless it's a total shutdown will lead to more yards. The OJ Howard TD was a TOTAL miff on the Defense and they admitted as much. Evans made a fantastic catch after a really high quality throw by Jameis, and yes the D should shut that down, but we can't expect perfection. That said, not fielding more than 4 corners in a game is a concern, and hopefully McD sees this and dresses 5....and, the Defense does need to stand up again against the pass, but saying they're not good or "as bad as we thought they were", really isn't accurate either. I think given the game plan, which I believe in the last few weeks has been to bend and not break, to try and avoid the big play, ala AJ Green and OJ Howard, they seem to content to give up the yards in the middle of the field to keep the points off the board. Maybe I'm wrong, but I think when we get to December the numbers will start to make more sense and even out a bit...meaning, TOs may come down a little, sacks go up, Run D stays strong, and passing yards per game comes down a ways also....it wasn't until Atlanta that the D gave up a passing TD....so let's not call them out just yet.

The Indy Star's brutal takedown of the Colts
BigBuff423 replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This wreaks of spoiled children syndrome. They went from Peyton to Luck and except for the year where 1-15 required them to be in order to get Luck, they immediately went to the playoffs in his Rookie year. Then, the bewildered GM started trading for aging players, like Luck was Brady in the twilight of his career, and now the NEW GM gets the blame that the turn around isn't fast enough....yeesh, give the new GM some time to put pieces in place. This isn't baseball, you can't just plug-and-play....it's why the NFL is far more complex and beautiful as a team sport (IMHO).....and why there is so much more failure than success. He did get Brissett at last minute and he did make some other good changes....people in Indy need to be patient....not 17 years without a playoff game patient, but a standard 2-3 full YEARS, not just seasons, patient.... -
Tre'Davious White negativity...
BigBuff423 replied to aceman_16's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
As long as it's sincere - and to me, it truly is - I think someone who is unwilling to yield to mediocre expectations is a positive thing. He hasn't even played half a season...let the rage burn, let it fuel him to greatness and when his career is over, he can longingly look back and be more balanced in his critique of himself. As long as it's not false humility, then let him use it as a means to be better. It's good life advice, not just football
