  1. I think a way larger sample size would be needed than 1 spread QB, taking 5 years to develop, and having 1 good offensive year to get GMs to change how they evaluate QBs... THAT said, I do believe all QB success in the NFL (even Tom Brady) is largely dependent on being in the right place, with the right coaching staff/philosophy/, at the right time. Many NFL QBs would benefit from sitting and learning how to be an NFL QB before being thrown into the fire, regardless of college system run. Most NFL GM's/teams don't have that luxury though.
  2. interesting take on his comments...the highlights I got from twitter were just him saying how it would cost a lot to move up that high using 21/22...really just starting to evaluate these QBs...etc... I'll have to go listen to the full interview and see
  3. what did Beane say or where can I hear it?
  4. Baker buddy, they hate you cuz they aint you other than him being short and a great history against short QBs, I love the kid's potential and moxy...doubt he ends up a Bill but I love him
  5. THIS is exactly how I am choosing to look at this hire. I was originally happy, and still am, based on the fact that the two best coaches in ALL OF FOOTBALL wanted him to work for them. Great point about 6 years ago being his last OC gig in the NFL. I KNOW I am better at my job now than I was 6 years ago, and I am not smart OR motivated : )
  6. I am not interested in TT in college...TT has no bearing on Lamar Jackson's potential as an NFL QB And Lamar has been pretty good in college, I wouldn't call him great...and has done so with pretty paltry talent around him. I like the potential. I would prefer to stay put and take a shot on Jackson/Rudolph/Finley instead of trying to mortgage the future on Darnold/Rosen...which certainly slants my opinion of Jackson (because he is a realistic target at QB in this draft).
  7. thats better gug! I just have to whole heartedly disagree with you. I don't see him as inaccurate and especially not poor mechanics (sometimes he has struggled to reset his shoulders..but no long windup/foot issues). I have never spoken to him so I can't speak to his intelligence. I would say his athleticism and arm strength could garner him the comparison to Vick. As far as TT goes, no where near each other in QB'ing...Jackson actually seems to throw receivers open and fit balls into tight spaces/take chances. I am obviously not going to (or trying to) convince you he could be a good NFL QB, but check out the link above with Ian Wharton's film study on him and after watching it, tell me you still see the TT comp's
  8. yea I would agree with one or the other...I could see a reasonably priced "place holder"/competition vet, and then using resources to get your QB And I am not (intentionally) saying your source is lying, I would just question ANY front office that shares draft strategies with players. Like, seriously, what would be the benefit of telling players what you plan to do in the draft? Loose lips sink ships, and something that McBeane has done since day 1 here is plug many many many leaks from the previous regime.
  9. solid post brother, SOLID! Love your contribution to this thread... now, care to substantiate your "No" with any reasons/facts/stats?
  10. Thanks for sharing. I am skeptical because I doubt McBeane is sharing their draft strategies with members of the team. It just isn't done that way. Also, its about three months too early to have your "draft strategy" set
  11. yes Gaines staying on the field has been an issue. I will take the gamble, and obviously load up on young/cheap corners in FA and the draft to supplement and fill in when he is NOT healthy. I would prefer not to spend the cap space on corners when there are other options there AND we have a lot of other expensive holes to fill on this roster I could imagine the defense being pretty loaded if we retained gaines, added some young/cheap corners, got a DT and a true MLB in the first round...now we just have to imagine some mystery QB falling into our lap somehow ala Tom Brady
  12. would prefer we spend half or less of that money from Trumaine Johnson on retaining Gaines agree on Star
  13. arguing and discussing things is the point of a message board...maybe take your own advice about life being too short and move on? Why else come to a message board?
  14. nice...grandpa : )
  15. I like Kendall Wright as a 3rd option/safety net role. He is a long way removed from 12/13 when he really thrived in the Tennessee offense, did manage to do alright with the hodgepodge in Chicago this season. We have a lot of holes to fill in FA/draft...going to have to get average players who we hope can succeed in our new system at some positions
  16. I am only basing my NO on the still shot from the video...look at that flabby/non define/milky white throwing arm...you expect us to bank on that thing for the future of the franchise, hard pass... also...look at the limp left wrist...yikes
  17. just don't wear jeans...you are an adult. there are other comfortable pants out there to wear aside from jeans.
  18. Agreed we are NOT fine at DE...Hughes was a one trick pony this year as a pass rusher (speed rush around the OT that usually failed) and he isnt getting any younger, Lawson was hurt but not effective as a pass rusher when he has been in the lineup (could that change? yes, but I dont want to bank on it). We need to address DE too. Is it the MOST pressing need? That could be debated, and is. Could a disruptive DT help take pressure off of our DE's? Absolutely. The fact is, we need D-line help across the board, so get it where we can.
  19. for those who say "develop peterman"...what the hell is there to develop? He throws like an infant...no thanks, doesn't cut it in the NFL. That throw that took four and a half minutes to get across the field in the playoff game is ALLLLLL you need to see to know his baby arm cannot compete... Bring in a vet who is capable of reading defenses and attempting throws and who can start for one maybe two years, draft a guy IF YOU THINK HE CAN DO IT, and build the team....if the rookie surpasses the vet, then great... * you need to take shots in the draft on QBs but only if you actually think they can do it. I guess they tried with Peterman but its obvious he does not have the physical tools to get it done (one good pass because he threw with anticipation, on the play Benjamin got injured, other than that he has looked like warm dog shat). Guys who argue to draft a QB just because we need one are idiots, yes its obvious we need a QB, but we need the RIGHT QB...if theres one there, draft him.
  20. why are you confident Incognito will be cut? Sure hes 35 but he had a pretty damn good year, is a team leader....why the cut? I could personally see a one year extension to lessen cap hit rather than a cut...what info do you have?
  21. will absolutely watch all the games unless I have some other plans (beer fest during this saturdays first game...which is unfortunate bc its a good game)... I dont "get" people who only watch Bills games...but to each their own
  22. we are already laughing at you from the playoffs : )
  23. bro I agree with you, again, I was just using the other posters words to disagree with him (and agree with you!!!!!! ) my god
  24. yea yea yea, thanks for being johnny on the spot with the correction...if you followed our discussion it was meant to say "9 win type of team" as the poster I was having the discussion with called it. Thank you for your substantial contribution to the discussion : )
