"Bills GM Brandon Beane has not tipped his hand and has continually said that Buffalo will take the best player available. That could lead Buffalo in multiple directions, but Bleacher Report’s Matt Miller is hearing that the Bills are targeting Houston defensive tackle Ed Oliver with their No. 9 pick."
READ: Beane hasn't said anything, but "I'm hearing..."
Riiiight.
"Just" get a bunch of starters that contribute right away while on rookie deals. Don't reach.
Maybe try to get back into the 4th round and shed some of the 5-7th round picks that likely won't make team if Beane just drafts all 10 spots.
FWIW, and I am not sure if this is even tracked across the NFL, the Bills are only going to have three roadtrip flights at or around 3 hours (Miami, Dallas, Nashville). Not to mention just two games in the central time zone.
That is not bad at all.
Top 10 Oline picks have some of the highest hit rates (aka not busts) versus most every other position. This can be an 8-year guy that you just don't have to worry about. WR's are much more risky historically. We already have risk at the QB position, I would not double down on that with a risky WR.
If they trade down, maybe, but huge risk at 9. Unless he is the second coming of Julio - which there is nothing saying he is remotely close to that - then you have to take a safe, plug-and-play starter on the O or Dline.
I can't believe the NFLPA likes (and/or campaigned for) the setup of 'Phase One.'
It's basically stretching, and the offense playing catch. Defense will just be high-fiving and slapping butts all day. They can't even touch a ball per the rules. That is just silly.
Not sure about him at 9 if he projects as a guard. Too rich. For me the only linemen you spend a top 10 pick on is a legit LT - can maybe be talked into a RT,
He better get real chummy with Cole (or anyone over the intermediate middle of field).
Daboll should be able to dial up vertical routes and make the LB's respect Allen's legs and then there should be gaping holes in the D over the middle and RB wheel routes. If he can hit those passes it's going to be a fun offense for once.
You can have 90 guys at training camp and I think they want as many kicks at the can with all of these lower-risk/lower-cost OLinemen to get the "best 5". They will end up cutting some of these guys.
