  1. Loved Winfield! Not sure Samuel is the physical tackler that Winfield was, but your point is well taken.
  2. Agreed on Oweh - no improvement and he will be lucky to make it past year two.
  3. Gunner - I think we are aligned on Oweh. How do you see Ossai vs. Perkins, Tryon or Ojulari? I know Daniel Jeremiah likes Tryon and Ojulari.
  4. I don’t think that Weaver has much potential as a pass rusher.
  5. I am not saying that Mac Jones won’t be a good NFL QB, but I’m pretty sure that any NFL backup would have looked good with all that talent as well. He was paying (this year) with he 2nd and 3rd rated WRs in the draft - both sure first rounders, #1 or 2 RB in draft, and 2 top 2 round picks on the OL. Of course, he could still be very good, but it makes for difficult analysis of Jones.
  6. Totally understand, I used to enjoy doing mocks as well.
  7. I really enjoy reading your draft analysis- you clearly invest a lot of time and effort - much appreciated!
  8. Did Ja’Marr Chase get arrested or fail a drug test? 😀 I guess that Ossai is as good an option as Bills will have available, they are really in no mans land at 30 looking for DE or CB. With what will be available at those positions, they have to at least consider other positions even if the need isn’t that big.
  9. The comparison between Barmore and Dareus goes beyond both being from Alabama. Barmore was inconsistent on an extremely talented Bama D. He turned it on big-time for the playoffs- that is both good and worrisome. When Dareus wanted to play, he was great. Barmore is pretty young, so maybe he improves his consistency, but as well as he played last two games of 2020, he’d be a top 10 pick if there weren’t significant concerns about consistency/effort. I think it is a bit wishful thinking that picking late in each round in a weak draft fo DT, DE and TE that you will find 3 good players at those positions in this draft.
  10. Unfortunately, I don’t see a lot to really like at 1T or DE this year. Team needs don’t correlate with strong draft groups this year. IMO, better to take best players available at positions of lesser need than to force fit so-so prospects into need areas.
  11. Out of curiosity, what do you see in him that makes you believe that? I like his aggression and he looks to be a good prospect, but after watching him against Clemson and Alabama this year, I am not sure that he is a great LT prospect. I still think he can go late 1st/anywhere in 2nd. Bills’ are sitting in a position where they will really have to show their scouting acumen to make good selections.
  12. .03 seconds is within measurement error for sure. I think there is too much emphasis on these 40 times. Anything in the 4.4-4.5 range is VERY fast. Easy to believe .1 - .2 seconds is a function of the start and that is really not a football move - more more a track skill.
  13. Agree, it seems that you should add .1 seconds or more to the pro-day times to compare to normal combine times.
  14. I won’t say that I don’t want the Bills to draft him if they believe it is a good pick, but other than workout numbers, I don’t see why Jayson Oweh is considered a potential 1st round pick. I watched all his snaps against Ohio State, Michigan and Nebraska from 2020 and I hardly saw him flash that outstanding athleticism and he wasn’t often generating much pass rush (that was evident to me). I saw some of his field drills from his pro day and he either has improved since the end of his season or that ability doesn’t (yet) translate. I know that he is inexperienced in football having first played as a HS Jr. For those that understand more of watching the film than I do, what am I missing? It seems to me that a team that drafts him will be betting that they can coach him up considerably and to my untrained eyes, he didn’t look like he would see the field much this season.
  15. That is along the lines of my point. You might find a very few athletes like him.
  16. Who were these “terrible” defensive draft picks? I think he has done pretty well there - for sure not terrible.
  17. I think that might be the assumption, but we don't know if the luster would have come off of Tryon if he had played last year. I suspect that Jayson Oweh would be taken a little higher than he will be had he not played last year and generated 0 sacks.
  18. This is a great post. "Big Nickel" carries some magical connotation, but the idea is a bigger extra DB who can cover and play the run well is better than a smaller smaller extra DB. Having someone who can do both makes the defense a little less vulnerable against the run when in nickel. The "Big Nickel" is only special if you have a special player to play it - like pretty much every position.
  19. Why Nasirildeen? Not really a safety, not really a LB and not a CB. This idea of “the big nickel” seems way overblown to me. Sure, if you can find a guy like Isaiah Simmons who is big AND has coverage skills it would be nice. However, searching for an oversized college safety and imparting special skills on him - because you want to see them - is a risky proposition, IMHO.
  20. Completely agree, both Oliver and Edmunds are young and talented. Also agree that history shows that there are difference makers drafted after the first round - challenge is, which guys this year will be drafted after 30 that will be very good players? I think that to find a really good player at 30 at a “premium” position will require gambling an a guy who has great athleticism, but not a lot of production or limited experience. Guys like Jayson Oweh with crazy tools, but embarrassing production or guys who flashed in 2019, but didn’t play in ‘20 are in that camp. Also, in that group could be high production and tools guys at positions that are considered “less important”. I really respect your opinions, can you name a few players who you think might become difference makers that could be available around picks 30 and 61?
  21. Do you see any potential difference makers who might be available at 30? I can imagine some with the upside to possibly become difference makers, but not many that I think would likely be out of the gate stars, though I would love to hear different opinions.
  22. I think your premise that adding Etienne would increase scoring by a TD per game is questionable. Did KC’s scoring increase by that much when they added Clyde Edwards-Helaire?
  23. Toney is like a lot of players in this draft with only 1 year of significant production in college. His significant year was at least last season, some others you have to go back to 2019 due to opt outs or shortened seasons. Not advocating to draft Toney, just highlighting that many players in this draft are in same boat.
  24. I would love to believe that there is a viable future good starting DE available at 30. If Ojulari can play there, rush the passer and not be an easy target in the run game it would be nice. Likewise, if there is maybe another DE available around 30 that could fill that bill, great. This year, more so than any year that I can remember over 35 years of really following the draft, there are widely varying opinions on many players. I do think a very good RT or interior OL prospect will be available at 30. Do they pull the trigger in spite of re-signing Williams and Feliciano? Allen IS their most important asset... I do think that a very good WR prospect will be there as well - Toney? Marshall? I am not as sold on the RBs... Could be a good CB prospect there. Prospects being equal, DE for me, but I don’t think the prospects will be equal...
