  1. This defense is waaaay overrated. They have been flat out embarrassing today. The bully got beat up and bad.
  2. Completely undisciplined. This is not a good looking team
  3. Total meltdown. Will be 34-13 within minutes
  4. We've learned that this defense is really not dominant and the shine is wearing off Tyrod Taylor already. I think it is quite possible that all 3 QBs will start games this year.
  5. Easy to criticize, but what is the right answer? What great QB did they have a chance to draft or otherwise acquire? If you were sure that Russell Wilson would be great, then grab a NFL GM job, Otherwise, the only still-looking-good QB prospect they had a shot at was Teddy Bridgewater after only Manuel's rookie year (where Manuel played generally OK)
  6. They should mercifully release EJ Manuel now. He played well in this "competition" and will get nothing out of being 3rd string. Just let him go so that he can try to catch on with another team - it is clear that the Bills' don't want him.
  7. I am looking at 8-8, possibly (likely?) starting 0-3. No getting around it, this team is very deficient at QB.
  8. I don't know this guy, but the Raven's Newsome might be the best personnel guy in the NFL, so maybe Johnson is ok
  9. I think it is unrealistic to think that every 4th and 5th round picks are going to pan out. I don't think cutting those two is any indictment on the Bills' drafts
  10. How about we wait a few regular season games to see if he is any good before worrying that his nickname might not be optimal? Remember, Taylor was not a particularly accurate passer in college and hasn't played many (any?) meaningful regular season snaps in his NFL career.
  11. I agree that Taylor has passed well and done everything asked of him, but I still can't help being concerned that a guy who completed 57% of his passes in college won't revert to inaccuracies once the regular season starts.
  12. All three have played about as well as possible in the preseason, but preseason success is not a good indicator of regular season success. The Bills still have: 1. A young QB that showed some potential as a rookie then was benched year 2 2. A young QB with great athleticism, below average height, a poor college career completion % and almost no NFL playing experience 3. A journeyman who had 2 very good seasons out of 10, but otherwise has thrown more career INTS than TDs I am cautiously optimistic that what we are seeing is that Taylor has improved since college and is making good on a golden opportunity and that EJ Manuel is showing genuine improvement, but I wouldn't bet the mortgage money on that based on preseason results.
  13. I was arguing that defenses will prepare for the Bills' run game primarily and also that none of the Bills' 3 QBs scares any defense. The only one that might requires little prep is Taylor and that would be to say "do not rush hard, keep him in the pocket.
  14. I don't think Indy or any other team is worried in the least about which of these 3 starts at QB for Buffalo. Indy will have a very decided advantage at QB no matter which guy Buffalo plays.
  15. Most over-rated: Tyrod Taylor - he is the new unknown quantity at this level, therefor he is "the next great undiscovered QB"
  16. Yes, but his collegiate completion percentage of 57% ia a LOT lower than even EJ Manuel's. If Manuel is too inaccurate, what do yo expect from a player that completed 10 of 100 passes fewer than Manuel? Not saying Manuel is the guy, but just saying check your enthusiasm for Taylor.
  17. There really is little to no case for Cassel to start. Playing him says that the Bills' think they have a better defense than the 85 Bears, SB Champ Ravens, and a few other historically GREAT defenses. There is about a 1 in 1000 chance that this team goes far in the playoffs with Matt Cassel at QB. First, Cassel has played well in only 2 of 10 seasons and 0 of the last 4 seasons. Secondly, it is RARE for a team to win the SB with a journeyman QB. Lest anyone think that I believe that Tyrod Taylor or EJ Manuel are much better options - i don't. However, at least with both you have SOME chance that they will improve with experience.
  18. But, but, but he is THE intellectual because some study supports never punting as the best approach on 4th down! Never mind that it was based on the current NFL success rate on 4th down - do you think those same coaches that are so dumb that they can't follow the "analytics" would go for it on 4th down if they didn't think that they had a very high probability of success? The "analytics" are questionable based on the sample set. Let's see, 4th and 8 from your own 15 yard line when leading by 7 in the first half is equivalent to 4th and 1 down by 7 at opponents 20 in the 4th qtr?
  19. I have a feeling that they may cycle through all 3 during the regular season due to poor play by each.
  20. While I am not expecting a trade for a QB, I can't agree tha t the Bills' QB situation is anything other than one of the 5 worst in the league.
  21. +1 I hope that both have very good games.
  22. You might be right on with that take.
  23. So they missed on a 1st round QB pick? Go look at the success rate of even 1st round QBs - it isn't good. The Bills are not at all unique in having a busted 1st round QB. There aren't many really good NFL QBs. When you don't have one, you have to take a shot.
  24. Agreed, but none of the reporters who are interpreting whom they think is in the lead have knowledge of any of those things. It is true that the coaches do have that information and it surely counts in the race.
  25. I've been HOPING that EJ would win this competition, but It looks to be playing out in the worst possible way. If neither Manuel or Taylor are good enough to beat out career backup Matt Cassell, the season will be a bust. I expect the defense will play very well for about 2/3 of the season and then become very frustrated with the offense's inability to contribute. The run game will be held in check by defenses with no threat of a passing attack and the WRs will be frustrated. I am not in the camp that believes the Bills were grossly negligent in not drafting another QB, because I don't think there was anyone there to take. Still, they are not going anywhere, including a wild-card position with Cassell at QB.
