  1. I can agree with that. I wasn’t arguing that the Bills need to keep him, but he is a good productive starting NFL WR, at least in my opinion.
  2. I think that would be a great move for the Browns. They are like the Rams what laid dormant stockpiling talent and then it just all came together at once
  3. 250 catches for 2955 yards and 20 TDs in his first 3 seasons says he doesn’t suck. No need to repeat that he was “4th on the Eagles depth chart”, you made your point - I disagree.
  4. I think that if they traded a 1st and 2nd to move up a bit to take Rudolph or Jackson and that player eventually was as good as Cousins, they would consider that a success. Trading a lot to move up high to take Darnold, Rosen or Mayfield, gives them a shot at someone who *might* be better than Cousins, is still unlikely to be Brady/Rogers/Brees level and carries significant risk that the guy won't even be as good as Cousins. On the one hand, a rookie gives you 5 years of comparatively low salary at QB, so you can spend elsewhere. On the other hand, there is bust potential and likely loss of a lot of draft picks due to a trade up likely being required. if the bar is that Cousins isn't good enough, then the only route is a major trade up, because Rudolph and Jackson will be lucky to be as good as Cousins.
  5. I think passing on a solid QB option because you are always looking for Brady/Rogers/Brees is a mistake. Those guys are certain Hall of Famers and are better than most of the QBs in the Hall. Good perspective.
  6. And injuries: Mathews, Benjamin and Jones were all playing hurt much of the time.
  7. I don't think any team converted more than 45% of their 3rd downs and only 10 teams averaged at least 24 points per game. I think item 1 on your list is a fairly big ask. Agree with 2 and 3, but I don't think Hurst is going to push the pocket - he is very small for a DT and would rely on quickness rather than power. He is also likely to be a liability in run defense. I agree that LB is a big need, but I don't think you'll see Roquan Smith available and I would be surprised if they pick a LB before round 3 (not that I am saying they shouldn't)
  8. Agreed - The likelihood of getting even out to the 25 was low (at least for the Bills) and they run the risk of a hold or clip pinning them deep. If reasonable, I'd like to see them keep: EJ Gaines- defense was much better when he played Preston Brown - a solid veteran whom you'd need to replace if he left. His replacement is probably not on the current roster. Jordan Mathews - I know a lot will flame this, but he proved that he is a good NFL WR in his 3 years in Philly: 67, 85, 73 receptions in his 3 years there. Kyle Williams - As long as he wants to play Seantrel Henderson - If he has his bowel disease under control and doesn't get suspended, he has talent Leonard Johnson and Shareece Wright - good veteran depth and shouldn't be terribly expensive. Cedric Thornton - decent for a DT rotation. Can't replace all the DTs in one offseason. Deonte Thompson - showed enough to warrant coming to camp but should face competition from a speed receiver by way of the draft or Free Agency Nick O'Leary - definitely want to keep him. He showed quite a bit this year (in my opinion)
  9. Oyy - that is RIDICULOUS. I am not the biggest Wilson fan, but he is twice the passer that Taylor is (at least).
  10. That seems pretty reasonable to me. I like Smith as one of the best available vets for a rookie to learn from. Next in line would be Bradford followed by Josh McCown. i don’t think any available vet QBs are viable long-term answers, with the exception of Cousins (whom I think will be more expensive than is prudent). I have no problem trading 21 and a 2nd to move to the teens if they see a QB still available that they like. That is best-case for me. If that doesn’t happen, I wouldn’t be opposed to trading 21 or 22 for a 2nd and #1 on 2019. That gives the ability to fill lots of holes this year while still having ammo for next year to move up for a QB. Worst scenario is to trade up for a QB who they are not really sold on.
  11. I did not mean to imply that anyone was lying or making things up.
  12. I'm there with you at this point. My opinion may change as I watch more and read more I believe that they would make a trade up, but I find it a bit hard to believe that Beane and McDermott would be sharing any information like that with the players.
  13. They have a 29 year old feature back with many years of wear and tear and nobody behind him. I’m not really aligned with your plan.
  14. You misunderstood my post. I DO think that is a mitigating factor. I was trying to argue for some patience with Jones (see post just above)
  15. Uh, OK. I get it - “ someone must be responsible for this travesty”
  16. Agreed! It is so “today” to say that RBs can be found anywhere. If if we want a rookie QB, folks should know that a young QB’s best friend is a strong running game.
  17. Way too many here dismissing a shoulder injury like spoiled kids. Last I checked, catches are generally made with two hands and a bad shoulder certainly affects the ability to position at least the hand on that arm. i don’t know if Zay Jones will end up being a good NFL WR, but I really don’t understand the hate for the guy that some are showing. MANY WRs struggle early in the NFL - see Eric Moulds’ first two years. On top of that Jones had a shoulder injury that likely affected his arm movements AND he came from a lower-level of collegiate competition AND he appeared to have gutted his injury out without excuses AND many passes were off target. I just don’t see the need to bury the guy so early. If he doesn’t pan out, there will be plenty of time to tell everyone that you were so prescient that you knew he would suck.
  18. I think the Jaguars (Fournette) and Rams (Gurley), No (Ingram) might say otherwise. Don’t forget how Dallas was derailed by the suspension of Ezekiel Elliott.
  19. Well thought out post and a lot of it is spot-on. In THE QB draft of 1983, 5 QBs were taken: John Elway (1) Todd Blackledge (7) Jim Kelly (14) Tony Eason (15) Dan Marino (27) Also, very interesting is that Bills also had pick 12 and used it on TE Tony Hunter - AHEAD of picking Jim Kelly at pick 14.
  20. No worries. Actually KC traded their 3rd plus a 4th and 7th to move up 18 spots in round 3 to draft Kareem Hunt. I am not advocating a first round pick on a RB, either, but a 2nd or 3rd rounder for someone who looks like they could be a very good back is not unreasonable in my book.
  21. I think the most they are likely to be willing to do is to move into the teens to pick a QB that they like if one is left then. As you indicated above, they may be able to do that for a 1st and 2nd plus maybe some change. That feels about right given what KC gave up last year to get to Bills spot last year (a 1st (27), 4th (136) and future #1). Future picks are usually valued about 1 round less than the actual pick, so at the time the Chiefs 2018 1st would have been considered roughly equivalent to a 2017 2nd. One could argue that this year's QB crop might be considered stronger than 2017's which could push up the price (better product = more demand) or could push down the price (larger supply = lower price), depending on how you look at it.
  22. Both 1sts and the Bills second would be enough to have a conversation about moving to 4, BUT there will be competition to move up for a QB, so the price would likely be considerably higher than that. Beyond Rosen and Darnold, I wouldn’t want to give away that much any of the remaining QB prospects. i would consider 21 plus a second to move into the teens if they like a QB that is still available after the top 10. That package might get them to about pick 15.
  23. This has long been the mantra - defense wins championships. But you do generally also need a good competent QB along with a good defense. I expect a lot of help to be brought in for the D this offseason.
  24. Is CC Charles Clay? If yes, that isn’t shocking. Of that whole list, the most shocking is Lawson. Taylor will not fetch anything of value, Glenn might get a 3rd and Miller and Washington will be hard-pressed to return a 5th or more. Overall, I like the team’s direction, but this fire sale, if true, seems imprudent. The picks you might get for those guys are very unlikely to even match the production of those guys.
  25. I said take a QB late in round 1, but if there was a can’t miss QB for sure, trade the farm. I don’t think there is a can’t miss QB in this draft. I think that Rosen and Darnold *could* be very good, but far from a sure thing. I would not not trade both #1s for any of the other QBs in this draft. Most I would do is to trade 21 and a 2nd to move up into the teens for whomever they like most that may be left among Mayfield, Allen, Jackson, Rudolph.
