  1. I can see what you are saying, but I also think that they could do both. I think they could use the second pick to take a QB and then use the remaining picks to try to build for that run with Eli.
  2. I don't see it that way. They have had an entire year to scout all of these QBs. I am sure that they have dissected all of them in great deal off film study, have information on them all from coaches and players and likely have seen them all play or practice live. The combine interviews and team visits are important to get a feel for each player's personality and how they process information, but I strongly believe they already have good idea about those things as well - teams spend millions of $ on this and it all starts far far in advance of the Senior Bowl and Combine. I am with you - Allen could certainly turn out to be good. His accuracy is a concern, but his supporting cast is a big mitigating factor. His team was seriously undermanned against most competition. That could certainly help to explain his lower completion % (or he could just not be accurate).
  3. I am not advocating for them to take Jackson, but that isn’t the only upside to taking him. We don’t know, he could be a complete bust or be great or somewhere in between. I could envision him as a better Tyrod Taylor or possibly a Marcus Mariota type.
  4. Don’t be surprised if the Browns are MUCH better in 2018. They have some talent now and have picks 1, 4, 33, 35, 65. They could add Cousins, Saquon Barkley and some trench help and be pretty good pretty quick. This isn’t true. It would take the Bills’ two 1sts and both 2nd round picks to beat Denver’s 1, 2 & 3.
  5. No doubt that Jackson has some very bad throws, but he also has some nice throws that make you think he can be a decent passer. I Think that it is quite possible that if Jackson became as risk-averse a passer as Taylor, that his completion% would be about the same as Taylor's.
  6. There is a BIG difference between McCoy's productivity and attitude compared to rarely available slacker Dareus. There is no debate that Dareus *could* be great if he wanted to, but at least this far in his career, Dareus has rarely played great.
  7. I respectfully ask why you think this is such a dumb statement. Anyone could have a good completion percentage if they are only willing to throw to receivers who are WIDE open. What i mean by saying that Jackson is a better passer than Taylor is that he will make more plays passing because he is willing to throw the ball in situations that Taylor is not.
  8. Difference that I see is that Jackson throws the ball. He isn’t the most accurate, but still already a better passer than Taylor, in my opinion.
  9. I’m not a Taylor hater, but the indignation that some of these national reporters express about Taylor’s benching is waaaaay over the top. In the 2 games right after his benching he threw for 164 yards and 0 TDS against KC and then 85 (eighty-five) yards against NE. Keep in mind that the much-maligned Peterman managed 92 yards and 2 TDS in a blinding snowstorm the next week. That doesn’t scream mid-level starter to me. I don’t think there will be a great bidding war for him.
  10. Really, there haven’t been that many successful QBs coming out of college including all conferences.
  11. You should let the NFL GMs know who you’ve identified as successes!
  12. Agree. They just gave Dareus away for not being dedicated, I think Richardson is similar- ultra-talented but lacking want-to
  13. Even with that, they still don’t need to trade down - they have picks 1, 4, 33, 35, 65, 97, 120. That is 6 picks in the top 100. They do already have some talent - with decent QBing and the picks they already have, they could become a very good team quickly.
  14. Better throw in AT LEAST a 2nd as well to even get Cleveland to answer the phone. I will be surprised if Cleveland is even interested in trading down. They already have 4 picks in the top 35
  15. Yes and Denver’s 1st and 2nd are worth more than the Bills’ 2 1sts. It will take A LOT to get ahead of the Broncos and Jets if those teams want QBs. I think it would be almost impossible if the Bills are in a bidding war with both of those reams.
  16. For some it seems the first incomplete pass he throws will be "timely". i think the only 2 guys really ready to play early are Rosen and Darnold. I like Mayfield a lot, but the size/speed adjustment will be big and NFL defenses are a lot different than what he typically faced at Oklahoma. Jackson is clearly not a refined passer, but he could become a very exciting NFL QB if he becomes a little better passer.
  17. I think it is pretty rare, maybe mostly because of the problems you highlighted. Here is a trade from 2016, late round pick for a player. The picks involved were late enough that they must not have been very worried about what would happen if Martin hadn't passed the Pats' physical. get pick from Pats for WR Texans receive: » 2016 fifth-round pick (No. 166): D.J. Reader Patriots receive: » WR Keshawn Martin » 2016 sixth-round pick (No. 196): Traded to Dolphins
  18. Are you saying that McCarron has anywhere near that physical talent that Favre had?
  19. I would not give up much, maybe no more than a 4th for Foles. He excelled for a short time with a good offensive cast and a very good defense. He had some DUD games that the Eagles’ D bailed him out of late in the year.
  20. Based on his VERY limited NFL resume, anything more than a minimum contract is a big gamble. I am NOT saying that he might not be good. However, if the Bengals don’t think he is a challenger for the much higher paid Andy Dalton, I would not hold much hope that he is an answer as a good starting QB. Wow, does NOT look like an elite trained athlete.
  21. I agree. He might never be as accurate as you want or he might get better, but at least he is willing to throw the ball.
  22. I don’t think Taylor is “trash”, but he is,at best, a marginal starter who is not being paid top-tier $, but more than marginal starter/backup money. I will be pleasantly surprised if they can trade him for a 5th round pick.
  23. I agree completely. As much as we want the next HOF QB, I don’t think a huge trade up is worth the risk. Rosen is uber-talented, has had head injuries and might not be completely dedicated to football, Darnold has a tremendous arm, but ha 20+ turnovers this year alone and I love Mayfield’s competitiveness and productivity, but he is for sure bucking the odds at his height. IF they trade way up, I hope it is for Mayfield, but I think they sit tight, possibly trading up just a bit in hopes of getting one of the other QBs that they like. Without a major trade up, it might be worth taking a chance on Allen, Jackson or Rudolph.
  24. Would be wonderful, but I don't think there is any realistic chance that Payne and Evans last to the bottom 1/3 of the 2nd round.
  25. I think we are in general agreement. I think the Bills' buying power to move way to the top of the draft would take a great deal. I agree that if they keep the picks that they have, they have a good shot to address some holes with both picks in round 1 and 2. However, if they do make a big move to the top of the draft, I think that would exhaust most of their high-value draft picks. I also don't think that they'll move up all the way to the top. I could see them making a modest trade up to try to nab a QB who is probably not named Rosen, Darnold or Mayfield (because they won't trade up far enough to get them). I would be totally on-board with addressing the Defense with multiple early picks as they had some success last year largely on the strength of cashing a number of turnovers - that is great, but not predictable. I am excited to see what they decide to do. They DO have some extra spending money (picks). I hope that they can get a good QB prospect without sacrificing too many of those picks to allow them to also address other needs.
