he has some all world talents, and some room to improve. it puts him among the very very good, but not the generational talents
-
id be surprised if he misses games honestly also surprised if he gets top tier elite money or a deal that keeps him long term which means he either plays as is… or with some sort of very short bridge deal think 2 years, shade over 2025 salary plus tag year, modest incentives and no tag clause. Tags 13.6m, salary is 5.2m… that’s 18.6m…. Bar napkin 2 year, 20m, lots of cash up front, some incentives that are achievable to add enough to be at/around kyren dollars if he performs and tag is out the window at the end. Bills put to bed any distractions by sweetening slightly, and reward performance still — cook gets cash early, upside potential and a clear path to free agency. It’s not thrilling for anyone, but neither side deals with worst case scenarios.

Rams extend RB Kyren Williams - 3-year, $33 million

its ultimately just another data point in the “cook or…” roster building discussion. If the theory is he wants saquon money…. Cash flow is like 17-18 per year for the next 2-4 years bar napkin If given the choice how would we rank just chasing saquon in the first place and trading cook vs paying cook the same deal? a kyren-esque back AND a mid tier contributor vs cook? I hate the idea of losing our only lightning in a bottle outside Josh but he’s not cmc or saquon and to not just pay but overpay a running back doesn’t make sense unless we are officially pushing every last chip in right now…. -
yea- I get both sides of the coin. Do you really want some guy that’s never played trying to showcase his arm talent, or better off with someone who just won’t lose it on their own but won’t win it on their own either?

im not expecting it but this could be the proverbial off ramp for him to slow down and save face at a number like 12m -
high end weapons plus qb friendly system plus fair weather I think he can have a good game no doubt but he scares me somewhere between Brock Purdy and Kirk cousins. if healthy he’s a viable nfl starter but probably QB8(?) in the afc and often not healthy?
-
Wild how backup qb isn’t usually a guy that’s going to light it up but instead a vet with enough playing time and good habits that he can walk on the field without nearly enough preparation and simply try not to tank everyone else and teddy is that

neither guy is saquon/cmc/henry both guys are very good, even if a bit shy of fully complete stars. we desperately need flashy speed somewhere in our offense… ours fits us best currently. -

If they were on identical deals, I wouldn’t trade cook for kyren… but it wouldn’t be an absurd conversation. I think that speaks to sweetening cooks version slightly, and get it done. -
let’s say he plays for 5 then signs a 3 for 42…. 4 year 47 or he just signs 4 year low 40s now - cash up front and mitigates injury risk…. it just seems common sense for him to come off his UFA style ask to get a slightly lower deal that does great things for him
-
there are like 3000 guys in camps also an acl in August has him back to full strength next year so like a 1 in 500 chance of an injury that would have him in camp for his new team now what are his odds of injury working out solo and what increase in risk of injury in sept comes from sitting out in August and does sitting out hurt perception at all? Once you normalize it all out - the risk isn’t super wild is all I’m getting at
-
let me know which of those injuries would jeopardize an established players impending free agency in any truly meaningful way
-
He should maximize his outcomes - I don’t dispute that I’m just not sure he’s gaining much in the equation with this specific approach
-
which is, of course, the quickest way to a nagging soft tissue injury during the season theres no great way through it… but odds are his career won’t be ended in August. Even an acl today sees him back to 100% come next year, as opposed to a late season one. he’d be able to workout next spring Popping his Achilles would be basically the only this in August that would really impact his next deal largely.

Pegula is paying the same revenue split either way. you are actually just quibbling over how many slices cook gets, not how much pizza to order
-
very few running back careers have ended at practice may he not look his best playing injured or missing time? Sure. But this isn’t his best either.

im not sure if you are familiar but its a pretty big marketing and PR week for the league, and they like to incentivize players to show up to the various events. likewise, most players have no real expectation of being in this years Super Bowl and are likely much less emotional about that than you think. I knew you were in aqib Talibs crew! -
A debate on whether Wilkins was tickling teammates in 2024 is not a great merge here. Should’ve remained separate threads.

And he was toast

Joey Bosa signs with Buffalo. 1 year, $12.6 million
NoSaint replied to Draconator's topic in The Stadium Wall
there are very few 10m guys that could tilt the balance of a franchise that’s a Super Bowl contender a healthy bosa can be that, albeit not a slam dunk -

it’s a multi billion dollar franchise. anything the home team installs, both sides should get access to. because the home team picks their sideline the visitors should get to travel with whatever they want. Let terry p finance any type of shade/cooling he wants to pay for on road trips. It’s a sliver of the paychecks at this point. This isn’t 1970 and only the well to do franchises could afford portable shade options, -
Does Thurman Thomas Get His Due? (Offseason rehash topic)
NoSaint replied to folz's topic in The Stadium Wall
Not the greatest back from his team (OJ); or in his era (Barry) If you write the book of best backs by team or by decade, he doesn’t get his own chapter but he’s in the hall and still getting some recognition decades later. He may deserve a little more but he’s not drastically off in a league that has a lot of special athletes
