I would venture to say an older more frail person is more prone to future injuries than a younger person in mint condition. With that said, as I got older, I rolled my ankle less playing basketball, mainly because I couldn’t jump as high versus one point in time. But my effectiveness on the basketball court was also likely lower as a result, too.

Offensive Woes? Blame Dawson Knox (kind of)
strive_for_five_guy replied to theRalph's topic in The Stadium Wall
I agree, he does the same with Knox at times. Hopefully success with other guys like Kincaid, Shakir, etc. will teach him the benefits of not force feeding the ball, especially to guys with stone hands. Doesn’t mean Davis and Knox can’t have their moments, but Josh needs other/better options. Davis had one of his best nights against Tampa, but was seemingly aided bc Josh had these other receiving threats too. -
Was Davis hurt at the end of the game btw, or are the Bills maybe exploring Sherfield in there over Davis now? Thought Sherfield was on the field in place of Davis on the last drive.

Two TEs and one RB on the field, aka 2 WRs too. 11 personnel is one TE and one RB, aka 3 WRs too. -
McDermott answers why we stopped uptempo offense

End of the game, they show Josh and Burrow shaking hands, and Josh covers his mouth to say something. If anyone has a photo, would be a great “caption this”. Maybe McD can call the offense and defense on gamedays?? 😂😂 -
Damn, hope Benford isn’t out for too long. Would be nice to at least have him back by the Chiefs game.

The ankle though. I think you pointed out last night though that the Bills would still in zone way longer than they should. Maybe McD needs to back off his love for zone against some of these smarter QBs in the league. I for one am getting sick of these long drives against our defense that are still ending up in points and keeping Josh off the field. By the time Josh gets the ball, he’s got to be thinking don’t screw this up, bc I might not get the ball again!

I’d like to see some vintage Power I next game. That’d be cool. -
I think their entire defensive backfield is an interesting subject. Micah’s in the last year of his deal, which I’d be surprised if they can and choose to re-sign because of age/salary cap. Dane also in last year of deal. With the trade for Douglas, if somehow Tre gets close to form (a big IF), maybe Benford moves to FS. Elam’s development is also a wild card. Meanwhile, Poyer’s diminishing speed is concerning, so not sure what we should hope to see happen in the SS role. No one on the team impresses me as the potential Poyer successor, but I’m not sure he’s got another season in him.

I’m skeptical if Tre will be able to come back from the Achilles injury, although this regime seems to be about as loyal as they can be to guys who work hard and are seen as leaders within the team. I’ll be surprised if this regime releases him, before giving him that shot at a return. But, I don’t think it’d be unreasonable for them to use the potential release as a bargaining chip to work out a more reasonable deal for both sides.

Searching for some hope today 😂

Before they just cut Tre outright, I think they discuss a restructuring to a level that would be more in line with his new market coming off injury, With Knox, I think they consider his value in more than just being a pass catching TE, but his blocking ability too. As for Von, depends his level of play by end of the season. But they’re kind of screwed there no matter what.

NBC Boston: Bills are done, Pats make them lick dog *****

Given morale is rightfully low today, I just wanted to bump this video from a couple years back. Team had just lost to NE in Primetime at home, was 7-6, and staring at not winning division or making playoffs. NE broadcasters were talking a bunch of smack, saying stick a fork in this team, and then this team found its identity and looked like one of the best teams in the league for several weeks in a row. My point is with Josh Allen and some of the talent still around him, we might feel a whole lot different about this team one month from now versus today. Whether that happens or not, I always enjoy revisiting this video and the smugness of these guys being proven totally wrong. -
Bold prediction: Once Linval Joseph is on the field more and Douglas is in at CB full-time, the rest of our DL will look way better. This defense has been reeling from the injuries, AND playing against an elite QB like Burrow did not help. Hosting Russell Wilson on MNF and then Zach Wilson seem like a great get-right spots for this D-line.

some perspective on a down season

If we can’t beat the likes of the Eagles or Chiefs in a few weeks, well then we’re just pretenders anyway. But it ain’t over yet. -
Craziest stat shown last night's broadcast.
strive_for_five_guy replied to Mr. WEO's topic in The Stadium Wall
I’d be curious to see how he ranks on per snap basis, versus the likes of Peterman and other NFL junkies that have essentially worked their way out of enough playing time to lead in a stat like this. -
@Italian Bills - Is it too much to ask you to wave your magic wand again, and predict that we will win the rest of our games this season? There is so much doom and gloom today, this fanbase needs some hope and something to rally around.

Collinsworth was adamant about the tripping call too, which would have at least put us in FG position and stopped the clock.
