Last game of Brett Favre's streak and potentially of his career. Also most likely the last game in the Metrodome. At least we can be remembered for some things.

Official Bills vs Browns game thread

I know it's a moot point and I don't want to dwell on something after a win but I did not like the call to kick the field goal at the end there. From the half yard line, 2 wins on the season, sometimes you have to take chances in this league. That just seemed like a gutless DJ type of call. But again, don't want to dwell on that. I'm happy we won. -
I'm against tanking the last 4 games
Talley56 replied to Pilsner's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Adding to the clutch plays: Led the team back against a very tough Steelers defense then threw a perfect game winning touchdown pass in OT. It's not his fault that Steve Johnson dropped that pass along with some others prior to that. I certainly agree about Brady/Manning in that those caliber QBs are rare and aren't necessarily going to come along by throwing games at the end of a season for high draft picks. I like where we are going with Fitz and I think we would regret it if we gave up on him for some rookie. -

Tanking the rest of the season is a good idea

I seem to remember people suggesting that the Texans lose out in 2005 so they could draft Reggie Bush. As it turns out, not only did they not even draft him, but Bush has been a mediocre player who's had the good fortune of playing for the same offense as Drew Brees. -
Grown @$$ Men fighting over a GAME

That was bush league at the 1:00 mark when the guy kicked him in the face while he was down. Funny how Charger fans are bragging about beating down a couple of Raider fans when, in the fair fight on the field involving 11 on 11, their team just got pounded. -
Most Memorable in game Rant

Last week "the drop" against the Steelers. I was in a sports bar with a menu in front of me and just out of frustration I grabbed it, crumbled it up and even bit into it, then threw it across the table almost knocking over some full glasses. Everyone else was having their own "moment" to notice that I had done that. -
This is Shanahan's first season at Washington. He's had just as big of a mess to clean up there as Gailey did here, maybe bigger. Currently, he has a better record in his first year and those wins have come against teams who are better than the Lions and Bengals. I'm not saying he won't turn out to be a disapointment but if we are going to give Gailey time before we decide whether he was the right move or not then it's only fair to give Shanny some time.

Now can we all agree that Fitz is not the guy.

But but Chan's the answer and and and he's the best coach we could have hired, better than Billick who won a superbowl and and the halftime adjustments and and and.... -

Manning, Brady, heck even Elway in their prime would have had bad games getting hit and battered around as much as Fitz did yesterday. The coaching staff dropped the ball in this game as they should have put Brohm in in the 4th quarter when the game was out of reach to a.) see what he can do and b.) avoid the risk of Fitz getting killed. -
The non-challange by Gailey?
Talley56 replied to BuffaloBillsForever's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
There were a number of bad calls against us today. Another one that comes to mind is when we were called for a personal foul after blocking their punter. The block was clean and it was long enough after the actual punt that he became a defender and therefore it should not have been called for roughing the kicker. I'm not sure why they thought that was a penalty. -
You chose your grandson over the Bills? Where's the loyalty?

It looked like he took a solid hit after making a catch down the sideline today and that was when we were already out of the game.

We keep talking about drafting Luck but I'd rather go after another Stanford guy in Harbaugh if he decides to leave and try for a job in the NFL. I know a lot of people like Gailey and he hasn't even had a full year yet but I ask, what has he done? The improvement in our offense in my opinion is more of a credit to Fitzpatrick than Gailey (remember, our offense looked good last year when Fitz was at QB as well). I've heard people compliment his "half time adjustments" but I'm just not seeing them. And our defense is suffering because we have a head coach who only knows offense. As for Harbaugh, he can keep us consistent on both offense and defense. His brother has done a great job in Baltimore. I am confident he can make a positive transition to the NFL and he can help Fitz with his accuracy issues. I'm sure I will get a lot of disagreements on this and I know Gailey hasn't had much time but I'm telling you, we would not miss much if we dumped Gailey whereas we could be missing out on a potentially great chance with Harbaugh.

I don't know, I'd be pretty irritated if I saw Fitz or other players laughing on the sideline as we are getting our rear ends handed to us. And there was no good reason for Derek to blow up at that guy asking questions like he did. They are missing Kurt Warner more and more each game.

should Ray Guy not even be a semifinalist for the Hall of Fame until Steve Tasker gets in? If we are putting special teamers into the Hall then Tasker should get in easily ahead of a punter. I get that Guy's career began and ended before Tasker's but still...

I've seen the head-to-chest hits called for penalties. Basically, any hit where the head is leaning forward instead of off to the side allowing for the shoulder to his first gets called. It's ridiculous and he does have the right to be upset but it is consistent with everything else that's been called this year.

I think there should be a more middle of the road option such as we haven't turned the corner yet but we are not the same team we were in week 4 when the Jets humiliated us and I don't see us regressing back to that team. I don't think we can get to any point this season to where we can say we've turned any corner. There needs to be a full season where we can prove we are at least a playoff contender and not just a team that came on strong after they already played themselves out of any playoff hopes. But I like the direction we are going in.

I'm impressed that we haven't had a whole bunch of people replying to this thread reminding us that we could have had Vick and that we should have made more of an effort to get him.

I couldn't agree more, especially when it comes to the Pats these days. For the past 7 or 8 years any time the Pats have lost I've just felt really good the whole day.

The Bills W-L for the rest of the season
Talley56 replied to BuffaloBill's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
4-12 or 6-10 sounds reasonable. I think we beat the Vikings and between the Dolphins and Browns we beat at least one of the two of them, maybe both. As for The Steelers, Pats, and Jets, I don't see us winning those games but I think we stand a good chance at pulling an upset in any of the three. -
So glad they didn't blow the whistle on the Drayton Florence scoop score. I think everyone at the bar I was at would have lost their mind.

Nice points. I completely agree with most of them. To add a couple: - To go along with the Fitz discussion, give him time and he is one of the best passers in the league. Seriously, his bad throws today were when he was either under pressure or rushed the pass. If he'd just take his time and set his feet on top of our line giving him time he can hit any of our receivers. - While I understand we have other needs, let's not ignore the running back position. Freddy takes a lot of shots and at his age that could spell trouble. If he gets hurt or starts to slow down, who do we turn to as far as a run it up the gut/keep the drive alive threat (especially since Spiller is not a between the tackles runner).
