Man, everybody is picking the Eagles this week!!
Talley56 replied to TC in St. Louis's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I just hope we don't see a repeat of 2003 (Eagles at 0-2 go to 2-1 Buffalo, win, and go on to a 12-4 record from there while the Bills fall to 6-10). While I think we have earned a little more credit they are giving us (picking a 1-3 team to beat us), it is so much nicer to be in the underdog roll and prove people wrong. -
Another number that scares me is 2003. The Bills began the year looking good at 2-1 (one of those wins even came against the Patriots). The Eagles struggled to begin 2003 at 0-2. The Eagles then traveled to Buffalo and beat the Bills. That seemed to be the turning point for both teams as the Bills flopped the rest of the year and the Eagles went 12-4 and made it to the championship game. Here's to hoping history does not repeat itself.

That play was a little different in that Fitz couldn't find anyone open underneath so he just had to take a shot. But the deep balls on third and short in the first half were frustrating.

Dear NFL ..........................................
Talley56 replied to SUNTANBILLSFAN's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Let's just put it this way, I am still hearing people complain that Shawn Nelson should have been ruled down before he fumbled the ball in OT against the Ravens last year. IMO, the non-catch call was much worse. You can sooner make an argument that Nelson's progress hadn't been stopped than you can that Steve Johnson dropped the ball. But oh well, moving on to the Eagles. So Vick is going to do what he apparently wanted to do two years ago and that's play in Buffalo huh? -

For one thing, that Steve Johnson "incompletion" was not the only bad call of the game. Our d-line was getting mugged all game long and not once was a holding penalty called (this was clear as day). There were some other blatantly calls but I won't get into them. I understand that we don't want to sound like cry babies and sore losers by pointing to bad calls as the reason for losing games. But the officiating was very poor and that can't be ignored. All I'll say is I just hope people remember this if we get a win later in the year in which we benefit from poor officiating. And of course, I know the refs weren't the ones who couldn't cover AJ Green and missed wide open receivers. -
ESPN Week 4 Power Rankings

Lions? Ravens? We just beat the Pats, why on earth are they still ahead of us? Nevertheless, great to see us up so high. -
Ha, love the comment about donating his beard to Tony for him to put it on his head.

Really? The New England win goes for naught if we lose? I think that's a little melodramatic. Quite frankly I would much rather beat a division rival and lose to a bad team than vise versa especially when you have lost to that team 15 straight games. There's something to be said about finally beating a team you keep losing to (look at Navy, went decades without beating Notre Dame and now that they finally beat them they're on a bit of a roll against them). But I do agree that we can't keep playing from behind. Especially this week against a team we should be able to handle. It would be nice to see Johnny White get some late game carries.

Couldn't disagree more. We got some breaks but so did the Pats. Byrd getting called for an unnecessary roughness was one of the most ridiculous calls of the game. Welker took about two steps before getting hit. And on the Pat's third TD drive Brady should have been called for an intentional grounding at one point for throwing the ball nowhere near anyone and they missed a blatant holding call on a third down conversion for the Pats on that same drive.

Yeah, for all the heat our o-line takes I'm glad to see someone make a block like that whether the guy was going to get to Fitz or not.

When Fitz bobbled the kneel-down
Talley56 replied to DaveinElma's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This The Pats were being complete and udder sorry sports during those kneel downs. Especially on the next play when Fitz was blatantly knocked over well after kneeling down. -
***The OFFICIAL I've sinned against my fanhood thread ***
Talley56 replied to Scrappy's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Funny, I planned on starting a topic like this myself and admit I was wrong about Gailey (I was not at all a fan of hiring a guy who was a cast off from KC and only had a very limited amount of head coaching experience). However I was going to post this later in the season if we continued to make progress towards the playoffs. Not after a 2-0 start against mediocre at best competition. We haven't seen anything we didn't already see in 2008 and that season was led by Jauron and Edwards two guys who are slammmed on a daily basis by Bills fans. While Gailey has shown progress I still need to see a full season of the team at least being a strong playoff contender all throughout before completely admitting I was wrong. But, I will say, so far so good. -
I wore my Thurman Thomas jersey to work all day last Friday and we were dominant all game last Sunday. This past Friday I left my jersey in the car during the first half of the day. After lunch, I went, got it, and wore it during the second half of the day. We then go on to play bad in the first half then come back to win in the second half. Guess I will have to make it a point to wear it all day every Friday from now on.

Prediction thread; Raiders @ Buffalo
Talley56 replied to Clippers of Nfl's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
With you know who coming up in week three my biggest fear is us over-looking the Raiders. They are just good enough that if we over-look them they can skunk us but just bad enough that if we take them seriously we should be able to beat them. I'm confident that Chan will have them prepared: Bills 23 Raiders 10 -
Don't NOT-NOT get too giddy over this win
Talley56 replied to DUFF's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If nothing else, it was nice to see a win like this. I hope it is the beginning of a big year for us but even if it's just a tease like early 2003 and 2008 it was fun to watch us go out and whoop someone on the road the way we did. -
I feel I need to say this.....
Talley56 replied to John from Riverside's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I seem to recall the Patriots winning the AFC championship game a few years back over the Chargers when LT and Gates both missed the game due to injury and Rivers was playing but basically limping up and down the field the entire game and the Chargers still kept it competitive and even had chances to win. No one has put an asterisk by that so I'm ok with winning even if we benefit from injuries. Now winning on bad calls, that would kind of cheapen a victory. -
Seen this before. The Patriots have played bad games even in the regular season and they will look like they've slowed down only to come out the next week and look dominant against a really good team again. Take last season for example, they get whooped by the Browns one week only to go into Pittsburgh the next week and dominate the Steelers. Belichick doesn't show his best stuff until he needs to. I think if anything this is more of a case of Detroit's improved defensive line.

Bills need a WR (TO?)
Talley56 replied to VIVA BUFFALO CABRONES!'s topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This would have been the better year to go after TO than 09 since we have a starting QB with actual arm now. -
What? Oh come on can't we get any respect?

Tyler Thigpen will look good against the backups prompting some fans to call for him as the starter

It seems like every year there is optimism at the beginning of the year by some people who are fans and then you have those one or two sports writers who actually think we can surprise people. While it does get old getting our hopes up only to see another disappointing season (and I certainly don't have high expectations for us this year) you also can't deny the games we were in last year: @ Baltimore, @ New England, @ Kansas City, vs Pittsburgh, vs Chicago. All of those teams were playoff teams and I would say all but Kansas City were legitimate superbowl contenders. That said we were still 4-12 and I think some people are jumping the gun about Dareus. Don't get me wrong I liked the pick but there is still a good chance he could be a bust too.

Ten Reasons the Bills Won't Suck in 2011
Talley56 replied to hondo in seattle's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Per #4, I believe that when healthy Merriman is still a force. Question is how long will he stay healthy? -
I was actually kind of hoping the Jets would get him. Not that I want to see the Jets succeed but I want someone to finally knock of the Patriots even if it is the Jets. That's not looking so likely anymore.

Albert Haynesworth to New England for 2013 5th re pick
Talley56 replied to Punch's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I can see this being just like the Randy Moss situation. He leaves a team he didn't want to play for and goes to the Patriots where he suddenly he plays great. -
Buddy Nix Looking at Players other Teams Do NOT Want
Talley56 replied to Owen's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This is why you have to learn to enjoy the entire sport instead of putting all of your football happiness into your favorite team. Especially when your favorite team is the Bills. Not too long ago we were worried we wouldn't even have any games come September.
