  1. 1. It's Sherlock, thank you. And you don't draft positions like RB and OG early "for need". That's how they ended up with Cody Ford and the two RB's you don't like. 2. The Bills are 8th in the NFL in rushing. Singletary is averaging over 5 yards per carry for the second season in his career. 3. Just as you know where Derrick Henry and Alvin Kamara were drafted..........you know that there are A LOT more productive RB's found late in the draft and FA than there are productive starting QB's.
  2. No he goes by OBJ because those are his initials. If ODB hadn't preceded him in pop culture he'd never have been referred to as ODB on purpose or accidentally. OD are the first two letters of his first name. Not his capitalized initials. Get it? But if you don't think a lot of people don't refer to him as Old Dirty Bastard or ODB........then you haven't been to an NFL game where he is playing. People like calling him a bastard because he has a history of acting a fool. Like he did this past week posting that sh*t under his father's previously inactive social media account. Nobody in their right mind believes his 60 year old dad created that and scored it with some emo REM song. That was all ODB.
  3. I think if you look at the upbringing of a good deal of the players on an NFL team you are going to find people who have gone thru a lot of tragedy and overcame a lot to get where they are so if it seemed to roll off of their backs.........it probably did. The Chiefs are a team that has played A LOT of football over the prior 3 seasons............they earned home field 3 straight times............that is very difficult and takes a toll. Even the 4X AFC Champ Bills of the 90's didn't earn home field advantage 3x in a row. I think we as Bills fans are a little jaded because Belichick won the AFC East almost every time for two decades but he ran a cut throat operation personnel wise, turning his roster over more than anyone and wouldn't suffer let downs. The Chiefs........like basically every other good team in the NFL for decades..........are more player driven so a down regular season was not out of the realm of expectation.
  4. Yeah he was in the 6th round of basically all my mocks that winter so that's probably why I thought he got picked. Once they took Moss that put that to bed. I think what people are really missing with RB's coming into the league is that the type of athletes that used to be able to endure the beating at the position until age 30 are really not playing RB anymore. You are lucky to get their best past age 26 now. These RB's today are the guys that would have been backups or flashes in the pan (like a Barry Foster). They produced when given a chance but came and went and couldn't withstand the punishment of the stud RB's of their time. What's more........even the really exceptional talents of today who should be able to start for 10 years......... like Zeke Elliott.......they know that they are only getting one bite at the apple so once they get paid I think they tend to lose their edge. On one hand, there are less really dynamic RB's...........on the other they are an even worse investment than ever for a number of reasons.
  5. 1. Henry and Kamara weren't first round picks..........lot's of RB's are drafted so pointing out a couple out of a sea of disappointing selections isn't a strong argument.......it just further proves that you are better off finding them after round 1. 2. The assumption that the Bills are the only team that struggles to run the football is wrong......they are pretty average in that regard........but your boy Kamara has been sorry running the ball this season with 35-year-old-Frank-Gore-esque 3.6 yards per attempt average. He's not as good as some fans who don't actually watch him play think he is. Certainly not worth the $15M per he's getting paid. 3. James Robinson from Jacksonville is a great example of good RB drafting. He had an excellent 1,000 yard plus rookie season and is averaging 5.5 yards per rush this year. 6th round pick. That's how you do it. Of course, Jacksonville idiotically selected Travis Etienne in round 1 this year so they more than negated anything they gained taking Robinson in 2020.
  6. I read recently that calf injuries tend to be slow to heal because the blood flow isn't as good there as opposed to a hamstring injury..........so perhaps that is the issue.
  7. Beckham is Irish though........and Odell in Irish is O'Dell.........so ODB is still acceptable, IMO.
  8. Picking "32 is a second round pick in essence" in the same way that "picking 33 is a first round pick in essence". It's DEFINITELY not. Picking 32 adds a 5th year option(which has to be fully guaranteed by the team after year 3 is completed). 5th year options are very valuable for positions where that player could become a $20M-$40M per year player.........RB is not one of those positions. First round picks should be spent on elite money positions..........QB/pass rush/LT/CB1/WR1.............the Bills project to need one of each of the last 4 positions over the next 5 years so there is never any reason to veer from that. You can find good interior OL and RB's later in the draft or let someone else shoot their draft wad on them and then steal them in UFA when they realize that those players don't change the course of their team and they have to spend THEIR money in UFA on more important positions. I wouldn't even go RB in round 2 but a RB in round 1 should be nothing less than a generational talent if you EVER take one in round 1. It's safer just to never take one in round 1. As I've said many times, the Bills haven't passed on a RB in round 1 that went in round 1 and lived to regret it in basically forever.
  9. I think Breida would be an easy cut choice. I liked his signing but they aren't really blocking it up well enough in the run game for him to use his speed.........which is why I think we haven't seen him..........so he's sorta' street free agent level value to the team at this point and they have that quality on the PS if needed. I even think that should Singletary or Moss get hurt Antonio Williams would be elevated from the PS and move in front of Breida on the depth chart. I would IR Stevenson for the entire season if they added a veteran WR........he's a prospect in the same way that Isaiah Hodgins was a prospect...........no real tangible proof that he's a playable NFL WR. But we've seen very little of him, definitely a case of the team knows WAY more than we do about his potential. I expect other veterans will start asking their way off of bad teams in the coming weeks so OBJ probably won't be the last potentially useful veteran to get dumped on the market.
  10. Learn from the past Pete
  11. I can't see ANYONE claiming him. $7M is a massive cap hit at this point in the season. I expect he will end up in NOLA or LV but it wouldn't hurt the Bills much to bring him in for the minimum. They could always cut him if there is any issue. He doesn't have the leverage to be a distraction if he goes to a good team like the Bills or Rams.
  12. In my experience, these next few weeks are always the best time to catch prospects in games. They are rounding into top form. And nowadays.........whether they even participate in their teams bowl games is highly unpredictable at this point. I'd expect a record amount of top prospect opt-outs. No reason to sit for 3 weeks and delay your draft prep for a month or more. The bowl games are almost like the first "spring game" for a lot of programs now.
  13. Beane and the scouting department are hard at work on prospect evaluation so I don't see any reason that it's too early to discuss. I know there are people out there who are just biting their nails and wishing it was SB Sunday already but the journey is the reward and discussing the future of the roster is at least as interesting as what they will do against the Jags or Jets.........re-building teams they are favored over by huge amounts.
  14. McDermott says WR is the teams "fastball". With Sanders likely retiring and Beasley getting up there in age and having his personal issues with the league and McBeane's wishes about vaxing this season........I would expect them to invest in a dynamic WR fairly early in the draft or in UFA.
  15. Listenbee?
  16. I think for the most part he and his agent will dictate who claims him..........if they know he won't show then a team isn't going to claim him. I think Terrell Suggs got himself released back in 2019 with the intent of returning to Baltimore and instead KC claimed him.........and though initially pissed..........he reported and ended up getting a Lombardi. So OBJ might not get the exact team but I expect he will only go to one that's on a short list of teams he'd accept. He ain't playing in Detroit, IMO.
  17. G ROUsseau + Marvel "Guardians of Galaxy" character Groot.

  19. Man........ @Just Jack wishes he still ran this board so he could suspend you for that comment!
  20. That punch by Darius Leonard is the kind of play that Tremaine Edmunds has to make to be in that All Pro category with him. The game has to slow down enough to be able to focus on making plays on the ball like you see Tre White or Hyde and Poyer do.
  21. Man.........for $399 straight cash maybe@Hammered a Lot will set you up in his garage. Bring an inflatable mattress and one of those sleeping bags with the tinfoil inside. Boom. Can't get much closer to the stadium than that.
  22. Nah. It's mostly the QB. Sometimes you get a dysfunctional combo of HC and GM........the Bills have had more than their share of that..........but the subtle differences between McBeane and many other competent but failed regimes in the NFL really never manifest without an elite QB. They were smart enough to realize that their plan was dead in the water without a stud QB and became the first regime in Bills history to either use their originally slotted #1 pick or trade up from that pick to draft a QB. And they took the biggest chance on the highest ceiling in Josh Allen. They also had A LOT of luck. To be able to pass on Patrick Mahomes, DeShaun Watson and Lamar Jackson in the first round in McDermott's first two drafts with the team and still come out of it with an ELITE QB...........that's an astonishing amount of chances at league-MVP-type QB talent in just 2 drafts. Their unbelievably easy 2019 schedule was a huge boost as well because they really weren't one of the 12 best teams in the NFL on the hoof that year either. Their schedule this season is also a clear runway to a deep playoff run. A guy like Andy Reid moving to KC, with a long track record of success, can come in and get a team to buy his "process" for a number of years until a QB gets within his reach. First time nobodies like McBeane needed to nail it because in truth their process was already in crisis by the middle of 2018.
  23. It doesn't need to stop really.......the opinion of the fans isn't important to the result. It just makes the fanbase look like they've never been here before. And, in reality, a lot of them haven't. Which isn't their fault, it's mainly Ralph's. But it does read like those people weren't following the NFL closely when the Bills were irrelevant for most of 20 years, which makes the fanbase look a bit like fair-weather followers of the NFL. That's unfortunate because in reality we've been very resilient.
  24. Ever since the win in KC.......which looks less impressive in hindsight.........there are scores of posters predicting easy blowout wins over the Titans and Dolphins. Then the team only played well enough to "hope" to win in those games. Close enough that a couple plays decided both. They haven't been sharp........and yet the same numbskulls keep assuming the next game will be over after the opening drive. Kinda' shows how uneducated the two decades of being out of SB contention has made fans about what it's like being a front running team. As totally inferior as the Bills organization was to the Patriots during the drought(and the first 6 NE games under McD), there were still games where the Pats didn't annihilate the Bills every time they played.......it only felt like that and it only seemed like the Patriots won by 3 TD's against everyone else each week. In reality it's very difficult for any team to perform at their best 14-17 times over the course of a season. I just want to see the Bills come out and play a great, focused game this weekend..........if they do that.....which isn't guaranteed......the rest will take care of itself.
  25. Why do people think the Halloween series is ever going to end? It's like Batman........it will just keep getting re-done as long as there are new human beings getting made to watch it. And do people not realize that Jamie Lee Curtis has been in 3(?) other Halloween movies that aren't part of the storyline of Halloween Kills? It's not like someone is suddenly ruining the story..........if you don't like the ending........wait for the next "re-imagining".
