  1. With House I know there was a board emphasis on less use of meme/gif material and that was what most of his posts were. He was very good at it and is missed.
  2. Bill O'Brien? Lane Kiffin?
  3. There is no greater Bills-drought-era refrain than "but were literally a few plays from being 10-6".
  4. That's a standard losers lament. We were even hearing that here on TSW as recently as a few weeks ago with regard to the Bills passing on Patrick Mahomes.
  5. 5-11 was an amazing job? 10-6 in year 2 was good.........this year has been very bad. What the Dolphins are is proof that piling up draft picks doesn't necessarily equate to making your team better in the future. If they pick Justin Herbert instead of Tuna then Flores looks a lot better right now, IMO..........fortunately, they did not.
  6. I don't expect Beasley will change teams this season but if the Bills are looking to make a move with him in-season........with the bye, this coming week would be the most ideal time. How about sending Beasley back home to Texas for Brandin Cooks? Cooks would seem like the more valuable commodity at the moment.........and his remaining base salary is less than Beasley's for this season so he's going to be a desirable trade prospect.........but Cooks has a high cap figure next year so Houston might not want to have him back or extend his deal. After the Bills would have eaten Beasley's unamortized money he'd be a very cheap cap fit for Houston in 2022.........so Houston would get a 2 year player for a one year player in Cooks. Would keep both players out of other teams hands as well............I just have a feeling that some contender will trade for Cooks and if the Bills/Beas situation came to release he would end up with a contender as well.
  7. No, you do not need to separate the two. If a player isn't producing for you......regardless of why.......and if they are expensive and you need the cap space(they will).........those are reasons to trade or release a player. Doesn't matter if that player is theoretically capable of still playing well........it's cost/benefit analysis.
  8. Actually, 7800 is a pretty impressive showing of fans for indisputably the worst performing and arguably the least entertaining team in pro sports over the last decade.
  9. I can see #1.......the Josh leap with hand down in KC could fit nicely on a Buffalo riding logo.........but you lost me after that. As for #3, #4 and #5.........I know it's Nashville week so the perception is that Bills Mafia are all country western folk.........but the last thing we need is a bunch of no-cattle jag offs at the games wearing 10 gallon hats. And you know that Bill Cody is directly associated with native american killing and exploitation and so that idea is DOA in a culture.
  10. When he's not played well.......yes.......it's looked like tennis. He had a lot of trouble dealing with teams running pass plays right at him last season rather than allowing him to hover-cover........there was still some of that going on early this year........he's improved his recognition and hastened his decision making in recent weeks and done a better job in coverage.
  11. C'mon man.......what Bills fan doesn't know that the Bills chubby drummer boys are "The Stampede"? But "The Jills" isn't taken.
  12. These threads where someone wants to give the GM credit for not signing a player when he wanted that player.......smh.
  13. You can tell which one of those dudes ain't got the long term contract yet. Seriously though @DrDawkinstein..........don't sh*t where we eat! Sabres talk is hilarious but way too gross and disturbing for this noble forum.
  14. The USAA ad is part of a broader campaign to show young people just how great life is if you join the armed forces. Same with the mid game tributes for vets of all kinds. The NFL is a great place to advertise to young men........it's very lucrative but there are limits to how many commercials of people jumping out of planes and such that watchdogs will tolerate so they gotta' get creative. The actual direct armed forces ads are often condescending to a good deal of the audience......like the ones where they show the kid who is confused by social media. The USAA ads are an ingenious way to get another holler in at the audience using funny, down to earth people and scenarios. Gronk is very funny in those ads. Now the trend of having people who definitely DON'T use the product, represent the product........that's a little disorienting. I mean, we all know that Tom Brady doesn't have a sh*tty T Mobile account..........but he could, in theory, own one. A guy that doesn't eat bread advertising a product that's basically all about the bread..........that's just thumbing your nose at the audience.
  15. Marcus Thames and Phil Nevin have been terminated. Small step getting rid of Thames.........but it's necessary. Two years of very disappointing hitting performance from that lineup means there deserves to be change. Same as when they canned Rothschild. They need an upgrade.
  16. No I do not, but that's irrelevant.......doubt is a matter of opinion...........winning is a matter of fact.
  17. Philip Rivers has more career wins than Joe Montana.......one guy is remembered for failure to win big games the other is known for being 4-0 on the biggest stage. We all know what defines a QB who is characterized as a winner...........it's not going 16-11 at Wyoming.........it's winning championships.
  18. With QB's........it really comes down to team wins in the court of public opinion..........and Tom Brady is doing his part to make sure that narrative can't be changed anytime soon. Allen and McD are one SB win and 2 AFC championships(one at their expense) behind Mahomes. As a Bills fan who endured the rich Shula's getting richer after the Bills passed on Dan Marino and lost their own selection to the USFL.........I know the tables can turn and gotta' like my teams chances. Reid's getting old. The Chiefs have done some stupid things like drafting a RB in round 1. There is an opportunity for the Bills to take the crown this year and maybe have a superior roster in 2022, 2023..... But the deficit exists and until it doesn't, that Mahomes trade looks like a Lombardi+ at McD's expense.
  19. And yet on it's own, trading the opportunity to select Patrick Mahomes to an AFC rival and having them dominate the conference.....to some extent at the Bills expense.........still looks like probably one of the very worst trades in the history of the NFL. The amount of QB luck the QB needy McDermott(and later Beane) had in those 2017-2018 drafts is crazy. Had cracks at 4 guys in round 1 who may eventually all rank as top 20 all-time QB's(maybe even higher).
  20. You have to win championships to be characterized as a "winner" in the NFL. The NFL is not a Charlie Sheen kinda' winning situation. No participation trophies. Doesn't mean a player is a loser if they don't win titles but it means they aren't known for winning.
  21. I thought they had a good defensive gameplan against the Titans last year but Andre Roberts tipped interception opened a floodgate of mistakes offensively. You are right though, they don't give up on Henry easily. They have defied the odds by having success making comebacks running the football. I think they will always try to keep pounding it until they get down 3 scores or more.
  22. Rice was a ridiculously good pass rusher. Rice's run defense was "meh" to be kind........and his football character was sometimes questioned. Rousseau is taller, has a longer stride and bigger hands and is more instinctive, IMO. It's really hard to find a perfect comp for Rousseau. Rice was a freak athlete though so that's a great one to be compared to.
  23. I saw the plays in question but I think you rarely see a pick play called within 5 yards of the LOS because of the allowable contact in that area.
