Well of course if you don't have the physical ability then training isn't going to turn you into a star at the highest level. What the training did was allow him to turn his power into open field speed...........it turned excellent scrambling ability at the Division 1 level into NFL playmaker speed.

One thing Allen and Vick have in common is that they both have/had to throw the ball with a low trajectory to excel. Neither has/had displayed the consistent touch that you see with some QB's. Allen has a stronger arm and he's a much larger player so his relatively low arm-angle trajectory throws aren't nearly as much of an issue as they were for Vick. Having such a strong arm allows Allen to throw passes on a line that almost any other QB has to arc over the defense to complete. The only downside is that touch and RAC yards often go hand-in-hand. Good example was the deep throw to Diggs last game..........if Allen can lay that ball over the top and drop it in the bucket Diggs is gone for 6 instead of having to slow down and leave his feet to catch a relative fastball. Those Jim Kelly to James Lofton bombs with lot's of RAC really don't exist in this Bills offense but to me that just means there is more upside to Allen eventually when he develops that touch. Allen and Daboll have seemed to just embrace what Josh CAN do and not waste downs on touch throws that he is very inconsistent on. I do expect over time he will develop better touch because you know he will work on it.

The Pats weren't lowly. Statistically they were one of the better teams in the playoffs. This game was VERY meaningful..........it crushed the Patriots mystique. They won a damn Super Bowl on the fumes of their past greatness in 2019(2018 season)........a winning culture is a powerful thing and they had the greatest winning culture the league has ever seen. They lost that Sunday. The Chiefs are clearly a better opponent but that's how it generally works..........the opponents are supposed to get better as you go (though TN is probably NOT better than New England). -
It's weird the things fans forget. The issue of his surprising running ability was a big topic early in his career..........he DID use a trainer to get MUCH faster right before and then after he was drafted...........the trainer was Ryan Flaherty. Nike’s senior director of performance. He increased Allen's stride length by getting his heels much higher off the ground like an olympic sprinter.

Good analysis of the issues with Patriots roster
BADOLBILZ replied to dave mcbride's topic in The Stadium Wall
You understand, it's relevant, it just triggers you. The Bills are 1-0 against the Patriots all-time in the playoffs.........where it matters most. -
Funny thing about this is when big market teams make the playoffs but still fire their HC and/or GM the media is all for it.........those teams are allowed to have a high standard. If the Bills had made the playoffs under Rex or Marrone and then fired them the media would be indignant about how ungrateful management and the fanbase was. I'm glad we got a franchise QB and avoided that fate.

There is a replay of a playoff game on NFLN from 8:15-11 tonight and another at 3:15-6. Doesn't say which game on the DirecTV menu but if you have space on your DVR just record both slots and delete in the am if they aren't the Bills game.

The well heeled ex-pat Bills fans who normally travel to Bills games......as long as they aren't in Buffalo.........are probably going to pass and hope for a Nashvegas trip the next week.

Refs and bad calls have ramifications
BADOLBILZ replied to SlimShady'sSpaceForce's topic in The Stadium Wall
You do realize that the ref has to spot the ball on every play, right? So, obviously they are dependent on someone else every play...........not just after they do something stupid. This is very on-brand for you though. -
That game was just terrible football. I like that 14 teams make the playoffs............but WC weekend this year was a combo of overmatched blowouts and bad head coaches getting a chance to display just how bad they are. Between the shots of McCarthy looking befuddled and ready to burst into a pile of puss and Big Ben's pathetic soft tossing yesterday it was rough on the eyeballs. The real playoffs start next week.

Boogie Basham quietly starting to emerge...
BADOLBILZ replied to Hebert19's topic in The Stadium Wall
Unlikely that your mind will be changed. He was a rare center talent, IMO. But I don't think you need a center that needs to be drafted that early and later paid premium money long term though.............it's not 1970's-1980's football where you can just put a line together and keep it that way for 10 years. Using a premium pick on a position you can otherwise fill cheaply but still effectively is not a great formula for long term success. The Chiefs themselves let Rodney Hudson go and plugged in Mitch Morse and then let him go etc.. -

Agree completely. I was praying they wouldn't take Basham in round 1...........in round 2 I still didn't like it because of the age factor...........but it does meet the "high dollar position" threshold for an early pick if he develops into a pass rusher. -

Rousseau tied for the NFL lead in run stops this year..............he was incredibly productive in run defense. And I don't know if Basham is "way better" than Shaq...........that wouldn't be a big accomplishment but he's also a 24 year old rookie so a lot of teams wondered if he was sorta' maxed out..........it wouldn't be surprising if he was a little better prepared physically for the grind of a first NFL season than Rousseau but that hasn't been how the staff has seen it. -

Points deducted for his dad changing the sons last names from Brown to "Saint Brown"...........he is the Lavar Ball of football dad's. -
Bruce Smith Puts Jerry Sullivan In His Place in 1997

Those are definitely the thoughts of a feeble mind. -
I will take you guys word for it because I didn't see how he got injured........and I know this is not great for player safety...........but I know that sometimes players fake a different injury when they get concussed because there is no protocol for muscle and joint injuries so they want people to think that it's something else until after they get checked in the tent. Sometimes you get a concussion and moments later you feel totally fine.........maybe better even.........then the effects kick in later when the brain swells.

Just like I have been badly wanting to play the Patriots in the WC round for the past month +..............I badly want to play the Chiefs next week. The potential for Bills fan revenge/safisfaction in this postseason is just immense..............it's not every postseason you can get the team that's been dominating you for two decades...........and the team that beat you in the AFCCG last year(and in the AFL champ in SB year one for the older fans)...........a team in TN that beat your team with the most ridiculous(and BS) play in playoff history and also had a pivotal, epic game against earlier in the season............and then maybe Brady or Dallas in the SB. I'll take it any way we get it but I don't want Cinci in round 2...........some potential for a let down emotionally..........I want feuds. I'll take Cinci at home in the AFCCG though........they are the only other team to beat the Bills in an AFCCG.

I didn't hear.........was it definitely a shoulder? He looked disoriented and stumbled badly when he finally got up, not sure if that was televised, I thought he was concussed.

To me it felt like the beat down the Bills gave Shula in his last game..........which was also the last home playoff game we won with a full house of fans. This Pats team was built on a huge free agent class just like that Dolphins team. Hope Belichick and Kraft have a falling out and he goes to NYG so this is the lasting memory. -

BADOLBILZ replied to QB Bills's topic in The Stadium Wall
It would have been just as epic either way.........just maybe louder. But this was, IMO the second best weather game of the entire season next to the Washington game........sunny in the afternoon........clear and beautiful at night. Anyone can dress for dry, cold, no precipitation, no wind............can't really get comfortable in the heat of the preseason game or the wet, windy sh*t we had all year. Gotta' schedule all Bills playoff games with a mostly full moon. -
Is McDermott in Belicheck’s head?
BADOLBILZ replied to Royale with Cheese's topic in The Stadium Wall
They just match up TERRIBLY against Allen when the Bills spread them out and he takes the short passes.........and even worse when he scrambles.........their LB's are far too slow. Their current D would have matched up better with the 2020 Bills.........and this offense is notably different...........they have really set up the deep ball with short passes and runs..........last year they were attacking intermediate and deeper routes all game long and Allen was less in control of the game from the pocket and was still dabbling with putting air under the ball...........recently he's looking like a 10 year vet in the pocket and everything he throws is lazers.
