Andre Reed in Sports Nation ESPN poll for 2012 HOF
skibum replied to EasternOHBillsFan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Call it blasphemy if you want, but Reed is more deserving of the Hall than Jim Kelly. -
A lot of people think the Bills stink

Shocking development there. -
There's an interesting word coming out of Bills camp

Because Thigpen has done so much on gameday for the Bills?

Drury gave us the LeBron treatment. F him. He's washed up and can we please stop with this mythologizing of his magical winning powers. He won a Cup on a team with Joe Sacik, Peter Forsberg, Patrick Roy... I could have my name on the cup with teammates like that. He won the little league world series when he was 12. Fantastic. Did he bring a Cup to Buffalo? No. Can you be all winner when you score 5 points in 24 games and can't skate anymore? No. I would rather see Darcy pay Tim Connolly $25M over 5 years than bring back Drury for one game.

i like the white helmets, but everything below the neck is not doing much for me. White pants? I don't know, whatever. It's an uphill battle for the Bills. Red, white, and blue are, for lack of a better word, tacky together. And no, I don't hate freedom. I actually liked the darker blue and red they used in recent years, even if the uniforms as a whole were kind of wretched. I feel the same way about the Sabres original unis- love the logo, but the blue and gold were too "primary". I hated the slug, but actually liked the way they darkened the colors a bit.

This poll may be SLIGHTLY biased.

Your Top 5 Worst Draft Picks Of The Modrak Era
skibum replied to BuffaloBillsForever's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
1. Maybin. This pick was stupid the day it happened (Orakpo!!!) and has looked worse and worse as time goes by. 2. McCargo. The fact that we traded up for him makes it especially dubious. Again, this didn't look like a very good pick at first, and turns out it wasn't. 3. McKelvin. Was a reach on draft day and this guy hasn't got the brains to make use of his all-world talent. Lots of key drops, too. 4. Lynch. Don't pick a RB in the first round unless he's Adrian Peterson. Don't pick an obvious thug in the first round, either. At least he was productive and provided some trade (and entertainment) value. 5. Spiller. Supposed to be an impact player, but how did they expect him to run circles around NFL defenders like he did in college? HM: Whitner. At least he has been a starter and team leader for a few years. I can't see putting Mike Williams on this list. Yes, he was a tremendous bust, but anybody would have made that pick in a heartbeat. The guy was an absolute monster in college and it's not Modrak's fault he couldn't follow through on Sundays. I also give a pass for Losman. He looked pretty solid and gave it his all for a good while, but just didn't have the stuff. Hardy was another pick that was too high given the risk involved, but with his size and production in college I can understand why he was taken. -
Who made Joe Buck the main announcer?

Did Any One Here What I Think I Heard ??
skibum replied to T master's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yes, if only the Bills had the shovel pass at their disposal, they would have won those two Super Bowls. It's widely known that Charles Haley, as great as he was, was rendered powerless by the shovel pass. I'm glad someone else has finally joined my struggle to bring the truth to light. -
I could not agree more on the painfully dull Aikman and Buck. They are the most heartless broadcast duo in football today. The only thing worse is the World Series with Buck and an even more droll and pompous Tim McCarver. I can't even watch it anymore. It's the Fox way - pandering to the lowest common denominator of humanity. I will disagree, though, that all sports announcers are this way. It's really just football and baseball that have this problem. Basketball and especially hockey still have some great personalities doing play-by-play on both the national and local level (see: Rick Jeanneret).

Wow, did someone just use "Maybin" and "defense" in the same sentence?

It's a very talented pool this year. I think with all the expansion teams they need to allow 1 or 2 more guys in per year. Anyway, I always thought Andre was more deserving of the hall than Jimbo. That's to say I would rank Reed higher among all-time receivers than I would Kelly among all-time QBs. Blasphemy? Maybe, but I stand by it.

Hey- Thanks for posting this very simple recipe. I tried it this week and here are my impressions: 1. I would start with half the mustard and add as desired. Following the recipe above, the finished product was very mustard-dominant in flavor. I had to increase the other ingredients to balance it out. Maybe it's because I used generic yellow mustard. I added the dry mustard, too, which may or may not have been a good idea. 2. I used apple cider vinegar because it was all I could find in the kitchen. I think regular distilled white vinegar would be more appropriate, or at least a half and half mix (cider vinegar is listed as an ingredient in the real CS sauce, but it's near the back of the list). 3. I had to just about double the pepper flakes to get some measurable heat. I guess use your judgement. 4. The longer it simmered, the more it began to resemble the original. Give it some time and you'll be glad you did. 5. I would think about replacing some of the ketchup with straight tomato paste. With ketchup, you are adding a lot of sugar and vinegar to the mix and I think it threw the flavor off a little. And that's my anal-retentive assessment of home-made Country Sweet sauce. After a few adjustments, I was pretty happy with the finished product. We'll see how it goes over at the Super Bowl party on sunday.

Not sure what to say about Whitner. I think it's hard to evaluate a safety who plays on a terrible defense. After all, isn't his job to be the "safety" net when the D breaks down? And if the D is always breaking down, it's kind of hard for a safety to be thinking about pass coverage. Aaaanyway, he's probably gone because he wants too much $$$

Nice menu. I wonder if Wang liked his cod piece.

Fairley is a dirty player with a lousy attitude. I hope we don't draft him - he looks like the next Albert Haynesworth. On another note, why do players hate the cold so much? You can go twice as hard when it's cold because your body doesn't overheat. I would much rather run a mile when it's 25 than when it's 85. Players need to realize that cold actually presents advantages, and the negatives can be dealt with much easier than those associated with excessive heat.

Seriously, the guy makes one awesome play after a terrible season (and what was, until said run, a pretty mediocre game for him), and we're going to talk about what a bad trade it was. Gimme a break everyone, as much as I love a good Beast Mode highlight, I would take Freddy Jackson over Marshawn any day of the week. Anyway, that was some Earl Campbell s--t, maybe the best run of the year in the NFL. He threw Tracy Porter like seven yards down the field! Made him look like a man named Tracy. Good for Marshawn, I hope the 'hawks go all the way.

Bills top list of landing spots for Vince Young
skibum replied to ALLEN1QB's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I love how it's 2011 and still we are only capable of comparing black quarterbacks to other black quarterbacks. -
As much as I love the guy, I never thought Kelly was in the same class as Elway and Marino and Montana. In fact, I remember thinking at times it would be nice to see Frank Reich take over for the second half. Personally, I think Andre Reed is more deserving of a spot in the Hall of Fame than Jimbo is. But he's still better than Fitzpatrick.

I didn't realize inside linebackers had their own coach.

Cam Newton is the white Larry Bird.

As a Montana ski bum and Bills fan, I found this article interesting. From the photo, it looks like our former QB can really tear it up! I had no idea Drew was a hard-core skier. The skis look like some pretty good product, too, but I have yet to see a pair out on the slopes. Bledsoe's ski company venture Has anyone on this board ever run into Mr. Bledsoe on the slopes? I wonder if he ever blew off practice for a powder day at Holiday Valley. That is, if they ever had powder days at Holiday valley.
