  1. I'm starting to wonder whether its actually the BILLS who arent trying to sign any 1TDTs. Maybe they even went into the draft resigned to the fact that they werent getting anyone good, so they spent time preparing to go into the season with Star only. If so, then no need to waste a camp spot on a scrub 1TDT. And especially if they are tweaking the D such that they dont need one much. If so, better hope Star is up to it. And/or that Basham et al can spell Star effectively.
  2. Florio and Simms pointed out today on PFT Live that at NFL.com post-draft grading of all 32 teams, the LOWEST grade was a C- Hmmmm.
  3. YES. But only as a business decision. Not because he is especially good or valuable. 1) they didnt draft his replacement. Who is also not already on the roster. 2) the difference between the option year payment vs the franchise-tag payment (if we dont exercise the option) isnt huge. 3) the cap will probably grow, and the Option locks in his 5th year price. 4) He can still be traded in year 5, and the exercised option might increase his value, so a new team can have a test-drive year. -Me myself, I think they trade him after 2021 and before 2022. Right before/after they draft his replacement. ----- Edit: this thread is turning into "Is Tremaine Edmunds worth the money?" But that is not the question presented here. That question has been addressed in too many other posts.
  4. ESPN listed him as a Guard. What say you?
  5. heard on a Bills podcast earlier today: McBeane usually brings 19 O-Linemen to camp. We need numbers there (or something).
  6. As I posted in the Draft Prediction thread: 26) Cleveland Browns ---- JOK - LB - Notre Dame -I have a feeling i'm going to hate the Browns for steeling my entire Bills wish list
  7. My only hope is, if we do trade up, it does not involve any (meaningful) 2022 picks. Late round scrubs arent gonna make it, so its okay to deal 2021 picks away. However, we DO need to come out of this draft with a 1TDT, so on balance, I hope we stay put in round 2, or actually move down. And as noted up-thread, we dont need a shutdown CB, just a competent CB2, so dont trade up in the 2nd for a CB please. If its for JOK, then permission granted, even at the expense of my 1TDT.
  8. The order is: 1) Jacksonville Jaguars - Lawrence - QB - Clemson 2) New York Jets ------- Wilson - QB - BYU 3) San Francisco 49ers - Lance - QB - North Dakota St 4) Atlanta Falcons ------ Pitts - TE - Florida -This is so they can jettison Julio and replace the pass-catching hole. 5) Cincinnati Bengals --- Sewell - T - Oregon -because you can find Burrow a new bff wide-receiver anywhere. 6) Miami Dolphins ------ Waddle - WR - Alabama -Fish seem to love them some 'Bama players 7) Detroit Lions -------- Chase - WR - LSU -Would be Dont'a'y Smith if Goff were actually accurate. otherwise Smith is a waste. 8) Carolina Panthers --- Justin Fields - QB - Ohio St -But I have been all over this board saying Panthers will end up with Deshawn Watson. 9) Denver Broncos ----- Micah Parsons - LB - Penn St 10) Dallas Cowboys ---- Surtain II - CB - Alabama 11) New York Giants ---- Jaycee Horn - CB - South Carolina 12) Philadelphia Eagles - Smith - WR - Alabama -have heard his NFL comp is Marvin Harrison. Smooth, gets open. Need accurate qb 13) Los Angeles Chargers - Slater - T - Northwestern 14) Minnesota Vikings - Kwity Paye - Edge - Michigan 15) New England Patriots - Mac Jones - QB - Alabama -[expletive !!] but I cant stop this from happening. -Interesting if they trade down a little and still get Mac. Interesting in a [expletive] way -interesting to see who they ship Cam Newton to. Baltimore? 16) Arizona Cardinals -- Farley - CB - Virginia Tech 17) Las Vegas Raiders - Vera-Tucker - OL - USC 18) Miami Dolphins ---- Phillips - Edge - Miami 19) WFT - Darrisaw - T - Virginia Tech 20) Chicago Bears ---- Greg Newsome - CB - Northwestern 21) Indianapolis Colts - Greg Rousseau - Edge - Miami 22) Tennessee Titans - Collins - LB - Tulsa 23) New York Jets ---- Harris - RB - Alabama 24) Pittsburgh Steelers - Jenkins - T - Oklahoma St 25) Jacksonville Jaguars - Ojulari - Edge - Georgia 26) Cleveland Browns ---- JOK - LB - Notre Dame -I have a feeling i'm going to hate the Browns for steeling my entire Bills wish list 27) Baltimore Ravens ---- Rashaad Bateman - WR - Minnesota -somebody who can catch a very short pass, inside the hashes, and do something. 28) New Orleans Saints - Trevon Moehrig - S - TCU 29) Green Bay Packers - Terrace (aka Terrance) Marshall - WR - LSU 30) Buffalo Bills -------- Elijah Moore - WR - Purdue -Offense wins championships 31) Baltimore Ravens --- Eichenberg - T - Notre Dame 32) Tampa Bay Buccaneers - Kellen Mond - QB - Texas A&M Bills selections: RD1 - Elijah Moore - WR - Purdue RD2- Wyatt Davis - G - Ohio St RD3- Adebo - CB - Stanford RD5A- Hudson - T - Cincinnati RD5B- Tonga - (aka: Saturn)- DT1T - BYU RD6- Hufanga - S - USC RD7- Robinson - DE - Florida St
  9. No. The Patriots trading down, because all the QBs they wanted are already gone, would be a huge win. Russell Wilson is holding on Line 2. Dont know what he wants . . . he just keeps saying "ahem"
  10. This is probably the best argument for us NOT drafting defense this year. Because the feeling is that we need more D to overcome the Chiefs. There have been many arguments made for why we should add offense, but I think you really hit the nail here. But I DO want a big fat Saturn-shaped human in the later rounds. To just sit there and be immovable.
  11. w/r/t Fields missing open guys (because I havent and dont watch tape, and wouldnt know what to look for anyway except applying the "eye test"), is Fields missing them as in not seeing them or seeing that they count as open, or rather, is he throwing inaccurate passes to validly open guys? And not to derail the thread, but which ever one it is, is it fixable? Not seeing them, coming from basically a Pro team as OSU with Pro coaches, seems not nearly as fixable to me if its still a problem after all that.
  12. Exactly this, for me. Makes me glad I read all the replies before just posting my own (identical list). But I do not think we trade back out of Round 1. I'd maybe add Wyatt Davis to the Dickerson / Creed group (not that I know anything about these individuals, but I'd like a Center, or an IOL who can play Center at a high level for 7-10 years, starting in 2022).
  13. Agree it would take more Ammo to move up. Unfortunately (or, fortunately for Bills fans) that move would likely require that we kick in some 2022 assets, which should be a nice, hard PASS. Those are gonna be super valuable, with JA (yay) and Edmunds (ugh) coming up, and with being able to actually have a combine and recent game tape.
  14. I think you are a bit unfair, by focusing (apparently) on the Bills' picks only. I like the work and I like the rationales. And we will NOT move UP to take a RB. But he did preface with the fact that he is mocking based on the current rumors. Even though draft rumors are usually smoke, at least give him credit for the disclaimer and putting in the work to make it realistic IF that actually happens. And if it does, there will be far fewer of us still alive anyway, due to Oncoming Trains, unstable angina, Electrocution from punching a TV, etc.
  15. They move up for JOK. Heard a good argument that you cant trade down this year, because the class is so weak that there's nobody that another team would trade up for. Also, 2022 picks are gonna be more valuable than 2021, because of all the opt-outs and also the lack of a combine / medical evaluations. This, even though the general wisdom is that next-year-picks are downgraded by one round, but not so this year (the argument goes). Ergo, our 2022 pick(s) that we use for trade-up will be more valuable. Teams in the low teens or early 20s will be super happy to trade out of those spots this year.
  16. Texans trade up to #8. Watson to the Panthers, for Darnold and #8. At #8, Texans (try to) replace DeAndre Watkins.
  17. I think Beane's comments are for ONE reason. To increase the value of Pick #30. "Oh, we know there wont be immediate impact starters at 30, but (to all NFL teams) dont think for a second we wont draft a player for long term. So if you call us, be prepared to pay full fare, if not more"
  18. Just wanna chime in on the OP's point. This thread has moved off the rails. Instead of "Hey, lets read and consider and discuss this article," It has instead become "Hey, lets just fire off on whether to draft a RB in Round 1 (because the other threads on the same subject arent sufficient)" https://www.nbcsports.com/edge/article/offseason-research/teams-are-never-first-round-rb-away Agree or not, it really is a well written and thoughtful article.
  19. I think Rosen flamed out because he never NEEDED to be a great NFL QB. Pre-draft, I wanted him bad. He was the correct Josh to me. Up until an article i read during draft week. Apparently, Rosen's family has gobs of $$$$. His father is a world-renouned Heart Surgeon. And his mother is a Wharton. As in east-cost old old money. As in Wharton school of business at Penn. Kinda like Johnny Manziel, whose family has plenty of oil money. Same take-it-or-leave-it attitude toward being a great NFL QB.
  20. This should be a poll. But wait until Draft-eve, since things like rumors and the occasional depth signings might impact my vote. Currently, I'd vote Move Up.
  21. I suspect that all of the above posters who STILL would be okay with a RB in round 1 did NOT read the article. (not saying that one article changes the world, but it seems you'd need to address the arguments before stridently saying "yep, but I still want a RB in round 1.") I read the article. It has ruined me of any urge to take a RB in round 1, and maybe not in round 2, of any draft. Thanks to OP for finding some well-reasoned arguments. A snippet: " So what do you do if you have a 1st round pick and need an improved run game? If you’re a team like the Bills, and we take you at your word, you improve your offensive line which will offer dividends to both the passing and running game. The Bills have said they need to improve their run game, but plan to focus on the run blocking not necessarily the running back himself. This is smart. Why? Well if the above analysis on the statistical inability to deliver by first round RBs isn’t enough… and if the above analysis on team success getting worse in the years after drafting a first round RB isn’t enough, lean into some of the things we’ve learned from studying NFL statistics over the last several years. . . ."
  22. Or, maybe Pees just doesnt like "The Patriot[***] Way." Either its effect on him, or as a way to get the most out of his players.
  23. I've been confusing Greg Newsome CB with Greg Rousseau EDGE this whole time. Most of us really do need to know the position of the player, beyond maybe 3-4 QB household names.
  24. it says that 20% of mocks have Bills taking CB in round 1. The highest percentage. But none of the top 5 players mocked to us is a CB. Odd.
  25. Heard Najee interviewed on Sirius NFL 88 today. Was surprised when he reminded us that . . . Daboll was his OC for his first 2 years in college. Might say a LOT if we Dont pick him.
