  1. Allen is killing us. 3rd and 5 and a pick. That is running territory with Allen off tackle or the Brotherly Shove with two down territory. Or, at least get the field goal. Then, 3rd down around the 35 yard line. Don’t go deep. Get the 2-3 yards for either a more manageable 4th down or FG shot. That’s 6 to 10 points. Bad play calls and even worse execution. Josh has to calm down and command the offense. The distributing the ball is nice, but our 2nd leader receiver is Miami’s Defense.
  2. I think Baltimore and Cleveland are the two most difficult matchups for Buffalo. Cleveland has a solid "D" and runs the ball well. Baltimore is solid all-around. Buffalo also does not seem them as often as a Miami or KC. If the Bills are the #2 seed, they should make the AFC Championship Game.
  3. If you could give a 2024 New Year's roster resolution to Beane and McDermott, what would it be? My Bills Resolution: The Bills will not carry a FB during the 2024 season.
  4. More than happy to admit I was completely wrong on this one! We could use about 5-6 more of him on rookie contracts in the form of WR, Tackle, DE, DT, CB, and Safety.
  5. The challenge with being a fan of Allen, I think, is three-fold. First, he has such a likeable story and personality. Second, he is so gifted. He makes a few plays that even make HOF QB's and 30-year football media guys blush and gush over. He is the 1% of the 1% as a dual-threat, arm strength, ability on the run, and pure talent. BUT, he can not throw a 5 year screen, a consistent deep pass, and his range of performance from week-to-week causes heart palpitations. Third, his unusual skill-set leads to a lot of "firsts" that are impressive. The total touchdowns, rushing touchdowns, and his ability to account for almost all of their offense every single week are samples of the greatness. These three factors make Allen so entertaining and frustrating. most talented and entertaining. Some of his games are all-time performances. The great, "What if" is will Allen ever reach his peak, consistently? "Peak Allen" is 3 games like the the 13 second game playoff game, half of the interceptions, and 10 more passing TD's. Peak Allen is close to Drew Brees passing stats along with his top 5 of all-time QB rushing stats.
  6. They are a complete team. Multiple offense threats, all-time level kicker, and a variety of ways to disrupt as a defense. Beatable...let's win division and figure out the offense to see them in late January.
  7. No balls on offense. Better be some next week, at least a pair!
  8. True...one win at a time. With that said, the confidence meter is lower but my expectation meter is higher. The only team in the AFC that is really good is Baltimore. Anything less than competing for the AFC Championship is a step back. Opportunities like this must be seized, and Allen needs to play much better. Zero passing TD's and 50% passing, and squeaking by when your defense provides that many turnovers for the offense to work with is rightfully concerning.
  9. We should be up by 21+ Allen needs to do the intermediate passes. Man, his turnovers before the end of the first half today and in other similiar situations is beyond frustrating. Get Diggs the ball.
  10. I don't travel much and when I do, it's on weekdays primarily, so it is nice to get a list from the many traveling fans. Jealous but appreciative! I have fond memories of the old Kingdome in Seattle and Candlestick. I loved the infield dirt, wind, and blinding sun, but I was a kid. I live near Denver. Broncos stadium is nice. I had tickets to the Bills game in Denver during COVID, but tickets were refunded as only about 5,000 fans were picked to attend.
  11. All great thoughts. The never-ending debate of what exactly is the criteria for being considered the MVP is just more interesting too me this year. It seems most of us can point to about the same ten (10) guys. I kind of wish there was an "operational definition" for MVP. I know basketball has generally followed the same unwritten definition as stated by others in this thread. The best QB on a #1 or #2 seeded team or historically great/record-breaking year for a RB/WR seems to be who is voted as MVP. Like others have said, media narrative coupled with Allen's up and down performances make it hard for him to win it. If he had 6-8 TD's, 2 wins, won the AFC East, and zero turnovers over the next two games and McCaffrey, Jackson, and had subpar totals the next two weeks, then I could see it. Go Bills! Let's thrash the Patriots!
  12. I normally don't get into discussions on who should be the league's MVP, but it has caught my attention this year. There are about 10 guys I have heard on and off about on sports radio or on the Internet. There have been a lot of good seasons by players, but there is not any record-setting, historically dominate team, or fantastic season. Here's my top 5. Please know this is not who I think will win or who I prefer. This is how I would vote. Who's your top 5 and why? 1. McCaffrey-easily 2000+all purpose yards, 21TDs already, and the best player on best team in NFC. Best RB/dual threat that is a non QB. 2. Hill- Most unguardable WR currently. Had he not missed two games, he might have hit 2K, which has never been done. Only Rice, Moss, and Calvin Johnson have had multiple receiving seasons (imo) that account for so much offense. He is both overrated (not a QB and Miami has a lot of options), and he is underrated because he opens things up. Hate the Fish but can't hate Hill's talent. 3. Allen- The most gifted QB in the game. Had the Bills had the best record in AFC, I think he would win it. 13 rushing TD's. Other than against Dallas, he is the reason for every win. Good but not great #'s. 4. Lamar Jackson-Best team in AFC. Lacks counting stats. Offense has improved, but he carries the offense similiar to Allen. Has a strong defense, but 19 passing TDs won't do it. 5. Prescott- He had a chance, but after Buffalo and Miami, he is not consistent against solid teams. He has the numbers and under 10 ints. He plays for Dallas. Honorable Mentions (No order) Purdy, Lamb, AJ Brown, Mahomes
  13. Keeping it simple. Local pizza joint and our family makes a Greek salad.
  14. Dear Simon, You always were the least popular among you 3 singing brothers. Bite me! Alvin & Theodore
  15. Chiefs have a solid defense and they are one of the best at making adjustments at half. Bills are very flawed but there aren't too many really good teams this year. Probably 49ers, Ravens, and Dallas. Bills are part of that bunch of 10 teams that can go either way as far as putting it together or flaming completely out. My only major complaint was not running the ball up 14-0 and just about to enter Chiefs terrority. There was about 4 minutes to half and tiring out the Chiefs defense with running plays and getting up 17 or 21-0 would have changed the directory of the whole game. Poor play call by Brady and bad decision by Allen to throw to Sherfield (he sucks). That was a 10-14 point swing. Other than that...good game for Bills to work with for next week.
  16. See all of the above other than the OP's question/premise.
  17. Two general questions. 1. Is there any first time NFL head coach in history who went to their first SuperBowl after 7 seasons with their first team? I know Cowher both won and lost with Pittsburg, but Cowher lost a SuperBowl within his first 4-5 years as a head coach and then won one. McDermott is the longest current tenured coach along with Shanahan that has not won a title with their current team. 2. The posts about Harbaugh, Slownik, Johnson, or Bieniemy being Coach are interesting. Serious Question: is there a coach out there who you really believe would be available, interested, and capable of taking the Bills to the SuperBowl in the next 3 years? I ask because I don't see Reid or Tomlin coming here. Sean Payton is new in Denver and also no coach has won a title with two different teams, so McVay and Bellicheat would be out with that historical stat in mind. Is there a veteran coach out there who would be an upgrade? Otherwise, its McDermott or the less proven. Curious about insights.
  18. We beat Miami with solid offensive and defensive play. It is our most complete game of the season. Bass hits 3 long field goals. Allen does not have an interception. The running game is consistently humming. Lots of sacks, a few turnovers created, and one of Von Miller, Spencer Brown, Harty, Sherfield, or Poyer receives a game ball. An announcement on the radio and ESPN says the Bills have extended McDermott and their Primary offseason target is resigning Gabe Davis.
  19. Here is how I would Tier Hall of Fame Semi-Finalists. Tier 1 Peppers (Top 7 DE all time at retirement) Gates (top 7 TE all time) Tier 2 D. Hester (devalued position but was best at his role for 5-6 years in the league when he played) J. Allen (Probably #8 DE at retirement Tier 3 A. Johnson (Calvin Johnson before Calvin Johnson) Reggie Wayne & Torry Holt (two great receivers who played as #2 receivers to M. Harrison and Isaac Bruce) on two prolific offenses Patrick Willis (short career but was a perennial all pro at his position) D. Woodson (you don't receive 8 semi final nods unless you are a top 10 Safety of all time Tier 4 Steve Smith Sr (this guy was a gamer and so dangerous and fun to watch). Hines Ward (you were very good, won a title and played for Sterlers who have like 5-6 players who should be booted from Hall but you played for the Steelers) Dwight Freeney (your spin move was awesome, a top 3 player at his position for like 4 years, and you probably have cool Peyton Manning practice stories)
  20. Yes...his head coach is holding him back. A #2 WR alongside with Kincaid and Shakir make four a great top 4 options. Add a solid RT too and this will certainly help. My only two knocks on Allen is less INT and fumble issues. And, the second would be improving how to recognize defensive alignments at the line of scrimmage
  21. HC Bobby Slowik, current OC with Houston OC Joe Brady Asst HC/DC Mike Macdonald, DC of Ravens. I think this would be a good mix (Brady's knowledge of Allen, Slowik's use of Stroud, and a solid defensive mind from the Ravens tree) I think having Slowik as HC and giving Macdonald the Asst HC title with a little more pay to run the Defense increases his likelihood of becoming a HC in 2 years after bringing some of the creativity and toughness of a Ravens philosophy.
  22. Brady as OC. Don't promote Babich. Get an offense minded HC and get an experienced DC.
  23. I don't like the call, but I understand it. Allen has had a few games (at least before halftime) where he has thrown an INT that turned into points. A fumble or INT is probably more likely given that Allen is at his best in those 12-25 yard passes. Anything over 25 yards on deep passes is not his strength.
  24. Not much. With that said, yes, he was solid today. Still, all-time great QB's are clutch. Allen is like Marino, Favre, and Rodgers. Amazing tools but somehow (even when he plays well), his team most of the time can't put the whole thing together for 80% of key losses. Today was an 80% loss game with Allen failing to make a few key passes.
  25. Sure. This has more to do though with a swiss cheese 2nd half defense, a crappy field goal kicker, and a HC over his head.
