  1. I LOVED the Ryan hire. But it's clear he can't coach anymore. The Jets got "players" for his system. He still stunk. Now that team, after years of failure is on its way to the playoffs with a different coach. If Pegs wants to capitalize on this D's window, the key is to can or box-in Rex. Get Schwartz back here as DC. Tell Rex hands OFF THE d. If he hates it, whatever. If he quits, perhaps Pegs saves money and can get a real HC. Or just can Rex and hire Schwartz, Hue Jackson, etc. who is your baseball team. I'm not looking forward to it (pirates fan)
  2. Love the analysis and agree with most of it. There should be an outstanding LB available in the 1st round. I like your draft approach.
  3. I hope your right. It's pretty fn clear that its Ryan and not the Players. Take a top 5 D and destroy it with your stupid scheme. If Ryan stays, Thurman must go. Pettine or Schwartz hired, and Rex told to HC and stay the F away from the D and personnel decisions. If Rex doesn't like it, too bad.
  4. this is very true. The NYJ blew it up, and Rex got WORSE than before the blowup. Now, with his "necessary" players, they have a shot at the playoffs.
  5. Rex prob sold Pegs that he (Rex) could run his scheme with the current players. He said as much in his press conference when he said "this defense" should be #1. Was a huge Rex supporter. Pegs should can him. Hire Schwartz, or Hue Jackson. I don't see that happening. I see more of the 1st half defense coming to play. The D wants Rex gone. That's pretty clear. At the very least, Thurman is gone and Pettine is back, with Rex taking a lesser role in the D. Cheer for the Browns to loose big.
  6. 1. Darby. Likely goes. 2. Richie (unclear if NFL would like this, and his play last two weeks was blah) Could have gone if stayed healthy: 1. Gilmore 2. McCoy Could have gone if we realized was on team first 1/2 of season 1. Watkins
  7. should have drafted Martavius Bryant along with Watkins!
  8. Rex Ryan hire (which I LOVED at the time). That's basically it. Perhaps the quickest way to turn this around (if they keep Rex) is to fire Thurman and bring in Pettine. Make Pettine DC, tell Rex he has no control over the D, team should revert to its great play with Pettine. Keep Whaley and Roman, IMO. Draft NASTY and athletic players for the O-line. If we get rid of Ryan, hire Hue/Schwartz. Or hire Schwartz and let him pick a DC.
  9. Pettine as DC is the only hope. But then Rex needs to be told he has zero control over the D and it's all Pettine, just like it was several years ago here. That would be such a terrible move. I wonder who Pegula is allegedly speaking with.
  10. If it's Polian the team is doooomed...unless Whaley retains control of making a roster. The team would have made the playoffs this year with last years D. The problem is clearly Rex.
  11. Watkins: we need accountability: http://bills.buffalonews.com/2015/12/20/watkins-sounds-off-we-need-to-call-people-out/ OBJ: all about himself and dangerously spears another player with his helmet. Winner: Watkins. If we had OBJ on the Bills, he'd be happy with 2 TD's yesterday and gleaming from ear to ear. Watkins wants to win. OBJ is the stereotypical immature, drama ridden WR.
  12. same here. I think this is common from first year starters. Also, when he is running in the pocket, that likely also increases the release time. Big Ben prob had a high release time his first year or two. Was the most sacked QB. Not saying he will become Ben, but the stat is not a killer. He's not Rob Johnson.
  13. wow. just wow. If I'm the defensive coordinator this is getting blown up and made into a poster in the defensive meeting room. Ask Mario to explain wtf happened there. Time for some accountability and public shaming of his half-a**ing. We get the defensive coordinator is a total idiot, that's obvious in the scheme, but your paid to play at 100%. Do it. Mario is a crybaby. Get rid of him. I understand the players frustration at this crappy non-attacking style of play. But play at 100%, even if it is a stupid scheme.
  14. totally agree. We need the slackers off this D. I've been impressed with Marcell, but the guy is the only one showing effort on the line. They really miss K. Williams. The secondary appears to be playing hard and loving it, however. RAMBO.
  15. Agreed. I think you could get even more from Shaq Lawson than we got from Mario this year.
  16. Will any of this matter after we squeak into the Playoffs and win the SB
  17. Slow or not. At least we have owners who care about winning. There are plenty of owners in other sports who don't care as long as they are making money off the team (Bob Nutting--Pirates).
  18. Whaley was correct on this one. Even EJ is a better QB than Cassel. Although I don't think there is any doubt that the team will move on from EJ at the end of the season. A rookie (look at McCarron in Cincy) would be better than EJ at this point.
  19. interesting. Very odd. Roman has been fine. The major problem has been Thurman. Whaley should complain about that. He'd likely have a sympathetic ear from the owner and most fans there. Whaley should campaign to bring Schwartz or Pettine back.
  20. not point in being a sensible fan. Or logical. Some illogical things happen. The Panthers are undefeated. No one saw that coming. If the Bills don't make the playoffs, I want the Panthers to win out so they do it and the Pats**** didn't.
  21. Syracuse Basketball in 2003 (after losses in 96 and 87--but was too young to remember 87); and Penguins in 2009 (was not much of a hockey fan in the early 90's). The Bills winning would top all of these. Fellow Pittsburgh resident? WAR EAGLE!!!! sorry, couldn't resist. have family members that are Auburn fans/grads, but a great friend who is a huge Bama fan. Does winning so much get old? (something Bills fans have not had to consider).
  22. Yes, stranger things have happened. Usually not in the Bills favor! I like the OP's post. Nice to see what could happen if the NFL got REALLY crazy in the last 3 weeks.
  23. Some small changes. Fire Thurman, hopefully Pettine gets fired by Cleveland. Bring him back. Tell Rex to stay away from the D. If he can't deal w/ that, let him walk and bring in Hue Jackson. Roman has been fine, IMO. The HC has created this ridiculous penalty culture. I'd be all for canning Rex. Assembling Hue, Schwartz, and Roman. That likely wont' happen. Player wise I could see getting rid of Mario Williams if there is a DE/OLB in the draft the Bills like, and he could be traded for a draft pick or a WR or OL.
