  1. I think we have to get a pass-rushing Edge in FA if possible. The top 3 in the draft may not fall to us (Young--OSU; Epenese--LSU; and Gross Matos--PSU) are likely all gone before we pick. Meaning we won't have to "reach" for an Edge, or trade up. If we grab one in FA and one of these guys is available in the draft, even better. dude, today is Thursday. Sorry for the info. Sucks when you think it's Friday but it's Thursday.
  2. even w/o winning the AFC East, finishing the season with 2 wins, (unless we rest starters week 17 if the seeding is finalized) would provide great momentum for the Playoffs. Also, everyone should click on the article itself. Good pictures in it.
  3. great analysis. I think PGH will be fine with Ben back, but they need to draft and groom a backup. I think Tenn will stick with Tanny. He seems to have a rapport with the WR's there, but it will tie up a huge chunk of $$, and they also have to pay Henry. Not sure what Indy will do. Looks like a potential QB purgatory there, or a Brady landing spot. I think Jacksonville sticks with Minshew, and drafts another guy. Or Brady spot. NE: finally, their reign of QB ridiculousness is over. Cincy: getting a stud in the draft. That team should rebuild quickly, and I think quicker than Cleveland, unless they replace Kitchens. Oak: I'd keep Carr and draft. Wildcard in all of this: Where is Rosen next year. He has had two really historically bad teams. Perhaps he goes to PGH as the backup? He'd be servicable behind a competent OL.
  4. Our offensive consistence is a consistency of under-performance. I'm fine with Daboll going. Frazier is clearly a keeper. keeping the HC is key. PGH has had OC turnover. They have been stable at DC for the most part, with LeBeau and now Butler. Hopefully if someone wants to hire a DC as HC, they take Butler and not Frazier! not sure another year of Daboll's inconsistent play calling is good for anyone. The game plan against the Ravens was terrible. Long passes that Allen air-mails. You beat blitzes the way the Pats**** do, with short throws and running.
  5. I'd keep Ford, he's been great last 3 weeks or so. I would activate and play DW, play Yeldon, esp. splitting him out wide and make 2 back sets with him and Singletary to confuse D's. I'd keep Gore active, I think they use him for pass blocking, and he's good for a 4 yard tough run. I'd actually get Knox more involved. Yeah, he dropped some balls, but everyone has a slump, and he's a rookie. He had one target, for a first down, against PGH. I'd like to see more sets with him and Kroft. We need to be able to neturalitize other teams blitzing, esp. playoff teams, with quick strikes to TE's, Beasley, Motor, Yeldon, and Brown. This, of course, comes down to Daboll realizing what he has and making the correct play calls.
  6. this seems like classic Pats**** nonsense. I bet he's fine.
  7. the "Knock" on Fitz coming out of college was the "speed to separate." I agree we won't get every attribute. I think the 40 is overrated. The ability to run concise routes like Fitz does creates separation, as does being big and catching what is thrown to you.
  8. An edge rusher makes more sense here. The WR class is deep, and getting another short, speedy WR makes little scene. If Tee Higgins is here, I'd take him.
  9. reduced cap is fine with me as well. although I feel like the Pats** would cheat their way around that.
  10. no doubt that's what the NFL will do. But the issue of a postseason ban is the same as in college. Perhaps a team is banned and would not have made it anyway. That's why you need to strip draft picks in addition, and fine the organization a huge amount.
  11. Brady said "Lawson who." And also said Tre White is terrible, and that Oliver should have been the first pick...of the 7th round. Yep. Brady said all those things!
  12. if this happened in college, there would be a multi-year postseason ban, as well as a ban on recruiting. Here is my suggestion: Kick Pats out of Playoffs in 2019 and 2020, as well as take away their top 2 round picks in the next 2 drafts. Fine the organization a huge amount. They clearly don't get the message.
  13. I didn't think the Bills were in Techmo Bowl? I had to use Madden. But yeah, it feels good, but what will feel great is finally winning a SB!
  14. I love how the authors name has been removed at the authors request. WTF is that? Quite a few idiot sports journalists here in PGH. Again, this is the fanbase that wanted to fire Tomlin when the Steelers started 1-3. Very low football IQ and generally spoiled.
  15. Peter King is a total hack. Never could stand his self-righteous (and often wrong as displayed in comment about the Bills) takes.
  16. yeah, unfortunately SNF and MNF have turned into this. They talk over plays, don't discuss plays or the game, etc. The stories can be very interesting, and I agree, save it for halftime, pregame, postgame, a different show, etc. It does neither the game or the stories justice to be talking over the game with these stories.
  17. there was a guy at the game in a Brady Jersey. What kind of jacka** wears that to a Bills v. Steelers game. Second, you know he was taping the Bills sideline.
  18. person next to me thought it was Edmunds. When I found out it was White, I was not happy, but I thought, well, at least we have Johnson and Wallace, no real backup LB. Was only thinking Steelers game at that point.
  19. would love a bunch of short routes to Beasley, Knox, and Singletary/Gore running. Knox only had like 1 target yesterday, 10 yard gain for a first down. Anyway, beat the Pats like they used to beat us with dink and dunk and stellar D.
  20. the most important playoff game we play is in Miami. Tickets on sale now I believe.
  21. I don't think he gets the money and becomes lazy. (1) he loves it here, he does not want to let the locker room down; and (2) he played well last year. This year has been even better. Finally putting the talent together.
  22. that was great. so many Steeler fans were shocked. This was a big game for them as well, and I think this may have been the largest contingent of opposing fans ever there for a big game.
  23. didn't hit where I live in time, but happy for all those who got in on it. the over under was comical.
  24. someone is high on the happy pills of winning today!
  25. Love Phillips. I hope we keep him. Phillips, Oliver and Harrison is a great rotation.
