1. It's what PIT should do. 2. You are right, also living in PGH, I think the only move they have made that nears this is trading the 11th pick for Fitzpatrick (safety). Worked out well for them, so perhaps they do this, but 3. I think they have massive cap issues with few ways to solve them.

when is someone taking Frazier from us. Please, anyone. Will Arians please retire>? New Orleans?
-
this is the only thing that makes sense. Then again, it's Denver. Hope Rodgers goes to an NFC team. okay, I like this line of thinking.
-
odd hire, you'd think they go offense. Bad. If they went D, was hoping they would take Frazier. Perhaps Frazier letting up 45 running points to the Colts while Eberflus held Allen to 15 helped.

Allen declines invitation to play in Pro Bowl

except Edmunds, needs that to provide fodder for his dwindling amount of supporters. -
wow, didn't realize this. nevermind, he's clearly coming here! haha. really I don't care either way, just something to post to spark a conversation.

I just don't agree with this. We got gashed on the ground v. the Colts to the tune of 45 points. That mostly on the players. We failed to do anything against Jax--players. Coaching is def an issue, but if we had better players, esp. an impact player in the front 7 and a RB1, we would have been the 1 seed and the outcome is much different v. KC.
-
great, more average additions to the D, and more average results and an early playoff exit. Sucks for Josh to have to watch that shi* show from the sidelines. I'm not absolving the horrendous coaching at all. It's really both, personnel and coaching. If you hire Frazier, who only really rushes 4, you need a stud DE. And our strategy was to draft one and hope he was a day 1 stud. Mind boggling.

I have to disagree wrt Bean. Bean did not get the bodies on the field to win the SB. We did not have a RB1 (not that it mattered with Allen this year, but could have cost us home field), nor did Bean fix the defense in the offseason. He tried by throwing darts at two DEs in the draft, but that didn't work. He failed to trade for Von Miller at the trade deadline. Totally agree on McD/Frazier chocking and playing scared at big moments at the end of games.
-
true, but Long and Cunningham looked good. Brown, I think had injury issues. I agree, there should be stronger DC candidates if Frazier moves on. I hope we have a more aggressive D play caller. Our secondary can hold it's own, sending just 4 is odd.
-
this is exactly right, a guy who on the defense front 7 can dictate the game at times.
-
good, that means DL and LB in FA. (hopefully)
-
Had some great improvement with Tenn LBs. Not sure what kind of defense he runs, but if Frazier is elsewhere, is he a DC candidate? Kind of surprised Vrabel fired him. https://www.msn.com/en-us/sports/nfl/vrabel-making-changes-to-staff/ar-AAT8kl2?ocid=entnewsntp

Better team comp - early to mid 2000's Colts?

better comp at this point: 1990's Dolphins. -
Looks like the call to squib may not have made it to Bass
RyanC883 replied to Reed83HOF's topic in The Stadium Wall
then call a TO. McD should have seen where Bass lined up, or the ST coach, or another player. both were problems, but agreed, the defensive play calling was even worse, with Kelse abusing Fraziers D, that was defending the sidelines against a team with 3 TO's. Just laughable. Bump the WR/TE (that eats clock) and cover everywhere. Instead, he went into "super prevent". -
Two interesting points should be made here: (1) if Frazier is not hired, then (2) are we incredibly stupid for keeping him and his porous over-ranked D around for another year? Clearly if he's not hired, other FO's notice that our D ranking was inflated because of the barrage of bad QB's we faced, and his soft "prevent" D in the final 13 seconds should have had him fired by now. Hopefully we are waiting, and if no job offer emerges, he's gone. Way too passive D. No blitzing, not bumping WR/TE's, it's just absurd. Frazier got abused by Kelcie calling plays against him. this is true. (I do worry about any team getting extra picks). But we can't structure ourselves to beat a specific team. Winning teams don't do this. The Pats*** never did this, Steelers did not do this, etc. Winning teams make teams that can beat you in a multitude of ways so it does not matter who they play. They have impact players at several key areas, and good schemes.

all dependent on whether we improve this offseason or tread water like last offseason.

Sorry, but it's not nonsense. He has drafted poorly. We are in a win-now mode, and you keep wanting to "wait". Well, that's fine, but waiting and hoping are not a strategy. Let's start with the 1st rounders: Allen: Stud, clearly excellent pick. This is like the Dolphins Marino pick. Edmunds is an awful pick, considering he is not an impact player, we traded up for him, and 2 impact LBs were available later (Vander Esch and D. Leonard). How you can defend the Edmunds pick is beyond me, esp. with him leaving the middle of the field WIDE OPEN v. KC. Oliver. Taken at 9. Really. Took 3 years with myriad of excuses to make somewhat of an impact in some games. He is a good pick. Rousseau was basically a non-factor, and considering he was drafted to "stop KC," well, that failed. Second Rounders: Why are we giving them 4 years? Creed Humphry is an all-pro in year 1. Gabe Davis, a later pick, is already balling. And it's not too early to know on Epenesa: he's a bust/backup player at best, and Basham was a wasted pick with a clear-cut round 1 talent in Humphry sitting there. Third Rounders: Harrision Phillips is an average player, Singletary did NOTHING in the AFC Championship game, hence why Allen ran so much. He's had 1/2 of a good season. RB's can make an impact as a rookie. He's a backup player. Knox pick has now turned out to be excellent. Moss is a total bust. Spencer Brown looks like a good pick. To sum it up: my OP is that Bean is bad at drafting in the 1st two rounds, minus Allen. He has been. He has picked the wrong players over and over again, targeting positions rather than BPA. And I believe my OP also limited his bad picks to defensive players, of which he has drafted ZERO impact players. No OC is scared of any of the guys he drafted in the top 2 rounds on defense.

committed, LOL. Bean did nothing in the offseason to bring in an impact player, and did nothing at the trade deadline. Von Miller is looking good for LA.
-
I think he is talking about our first pick in 2020 (AJ) and first two last year, both DE with little impact so far. We are not great drafting front 7….perhaps a scouting dept issue. good note. wonder who? hopefully they do not want Edmunds back. trade him. bringing the same guys back would net the same results. need to shed cap to get Chandler Jones here

With McDermott, you can't let the perfect be the enemy of the good
RyanC883 replied to Success's topic in The Stadium Wall
just like the 90 Dolphins always contending. Unless McD wins in the next 3 years he should be gone. Same with Bean. We have little elite talent outside Allen I think Bean is a huge problem also failing to upgrade the D. If these two are here in 3 years and we have not won I’m not waisting anymore time and money on this team, because it will be clear that settling for medocriacy is okay. perhaps, or perhaps our D meltdown with 13 seconds is still talked about. -
Frazier needs to go. His passive defense is awful. He can take Mr. Passive Tremaine Edmunds with him. We just handed them the game with no resistance. Not jamming Kelcie is absurd.
