Milano's "bottom line asking price" does not need to be reasonable. What he and his agent ultimately ask needs to fit within the salary structure that the Bills perceive for both the position and the team. Milano will get paid handsomely, if he stays healthy, and the Spain situation is not a good comp. Spain is a borderline starter/backup while Milano is a key cog in Frazier and McDermott's defense as well as a team leader. Don't expect a 'hometown discount'. The Bills will pay him what he's worth or another team will, plain and simple.

The Bills will do everything in their power to keep Milano, IMO. McDermott's D in Carolina was predicated on having two constants at LB which is why they made sure to hang on to Kuechly and Davis. Milano and Edmunds are those pillars for the Buffalo D.

As Buffalo sports fans, we're only allowed so much happiness at one time. ? Between the Sabres and the Mets, I'm constantly in the fetal position due to repeated kicks to the twig and berries. Thankfully, the Bills have at least allowed me to sit up and breathe. Seriously though, the saddest and most frustrating thing for me during this whole Sabres debacle is that the first five years of the great Jack Eichel's career have been flushed down the drain. I hope they can right the ship soon. Starting a winning tradition with the sweet 'new' (original color) sweater coming next year would be great.

All good posts and pretty much sums up how I feel. There wasn't really an option to choose that fit for me. I'll be more excited when I see the season actually kickoff. With no hitting in training camp, no live camp reports, and no preseason games, it feels like more of an abstract concept than an actual football season. Couple that with the fact that the season could start and stop at various points or shut down entirely makes it feel like a house of cards precariously ready to tumble at any minute. As Kirby stated, it feels like the Bills are real contenders for the first time in several decades and we should all be feeling more excited than many of us currently are. Life in 2020 (sigh)...

Honestly, who doesn't "put their family first"? We're hardwired as humans to do that. That said, the reason why any of these players chooses to opt out is irrelevant. They don't need fan approval. This is their right based on what was collectively bargained for between the union and the owners. If fans have a problem with it, they should take it up with the NFL rather than attacking the players. It's misplaced anger and nobody really knows these guys or their individual family situations. Will it suck if Tre opts out? Of course, but it's his right and his call to do what he feels is necessary/best. That should be the end of it. This is not a normal year and there is still a chance that this season either gets shut down or severely curtailed. Perspective and a little empathy go a long way in life. GO BILLS!!!

There was a 'Red Barn' on Lakeshore Drive in Dunkirk, my dad's hometown. I remember it as kid in the '70s when we went to see my grandmother. The building has survived and is currently operating as 'Pizza Village' (below), directly across the road from the Dunkirk Marina. My image from the '70s is the 'Sears Winner II' sneaker. Yeah, no thanks. It's not 1973 when rookie QB Joe Ferguson set a Bills record for fewest pass attempts in a season (164). Turn the kid loose and see what he can do. If McDermott and Beane are as intelligent as most believe, then they should have figured out by now that sustained winning in today's NFL is predicated on a very good, if not explosive, offense not a great defense. Relying on your defense to carry you year in and year out is not a sustainable model for success as defensive volatility is too great from season to season. The Bills will be faced with some tough financial decisions regarding their D very soon which could set it back from the elite status it currently has. An average offense will not overcome an average defense. Defensive guru or not, McDermott will last longer as a Head Coach in the league if he establishes a great offense and an average defense than he will the other way around.

Yeah, I got that. I was just giving some context to @YattaOkasan 's question. They mentioned KC and DAL as teams to watch in 2020. It doesn't take any deep-dive analysis to come up with that. They really went out on a limb there.
