You don't draft a guard in the 1st ... or do you?
BearNorth replied to Thurman#1's topic in The Stadium Wall
And the cost to move up a few picks is not usually that high where the Bills are drafting. Each first round spot you move around pick 25 is basically a 5th round pick. London is a California guy like JA17. Also played guard for the Trojans, so suspect he has great quickness. -

Sporting news has this guy ranked 23rd, which is close to where we draft: 23. Kenyon Green, G, Texas A&M (6-4, 323 pounds) Green is a well-rounded interior blocker with solid size, strength and technique to thrive in the running game for a long time. They also have CB's McDuffie and Booth in that 21-30 range. For WR's they have: 26. Treylon Burks, WR, Arkansas (6-2, 225 pounds) Burks is a huge target with reliable big hands to match. He can dominate smaller, less physical corners and has deceptive speed. and this guy 31. Drake London, WR, USC (6-4, 219 pounds) London matches his nice catch radius with great hands and quickness, which makes him a big-play and red zone threat in the Mike Evans vein. -
Looking at the 2022 First Team All Pro Special Teamers, Tucker - K, Cole - P, Gray - Gunner, Rhodes - LS are all UDFA. KR is Berrios 6th round #210, and PR is Duvernay 3rd Round #92. BTW the lowest drafted first team all pro is Buffalo's Jordan Poyer, who was 7th Round #218. Lowest on Offense is J. Kelce - 6th #191 This year's all-pro team has 4 1st rounders on Offense, and 6 on defense. TJ Watt and Heyward were both drafted at later 1st round positions than #25.

Saffold is the 23rd highest paid guard under contract with a 2022 cap hit of 4.2 million. Wyatt Teller's cap hit in 2022 is 4.876 million. We cut Feliciano and the giants signed him for 2.9mm. Average 2022 salary for the 96 highest paid guards is $3.1MM [32 teams 3 per team]. If we lose Bates, do we make a play for Duvernay-Tardif, being close to Canada, he can do his doctoring in the off season. Pats BTW have the third highest graded guard, Onwenu playing on a rookie contract. He started as a rookie. 6th round pick

I think that both Diggs and Beasley, with their experience in the league, helped Josh to understand how big a part accuracy plays in the game today. He is much better fitting the ball into very tight windows since he started throwing to those two. I think the New England game shows L'il Dirty gets this as well. Hopefully Crowder and OJ Howard get it as well.

As I recall, what the Bills did with Clay was put contract language/numbers in the offer that made it impossible for Miami to match. I believe once you put the RFA tag on a player and set the level, you have to match the offered contract by the other team, including all the quirky stuff in it. The Bills are admittedly cap strapped at the moment, so that limits their options. Bates saw what kind of numbers that Wyatt Teller got paid, and since he replaced Teller on the roster, is just looking for the best for #1.

Yes, but teams have been known to concoct really complex offer sheets in the past [e.g. Bills & Clay] that may preclude a team from wanting/being able to match. I'm sure Kromer was consulted by McBeane before they made the decision on what type of tender.

with the subtraction of Beasley, Sanders, and Brieda, Bills have 131 catches, 193 targets [30% of total] to replace, so plenty to go around with OJ Howard, Crowder, Duke. Davis will get some, Diggs probably at saturation level. Be interested if Dorsey has Josh throw more than Daboll did. Brady threw 73 more times than Josh, but Josh had 84 more rushes

Re: Diggs, when this contract is up, do we let him hit the market. Jefferson is 23, and on a rookie contract Chase is 22, on a rookie contract Lamb is 23 on a rookie contract Davis is 23 on a rookie contract Higgins is 23 on a rookie contract Waddle is 23 on a rookie contract Seeing a pattern here

Minimum for a Diggs extension is set

Anyone notice that Gabe Davis is the #10 rated Wide Receiver in PFF. Diggs is 12th. -
So whats left to do to free up cap?
BearNorth replied to John from Riverside's topic in The Stadium Wall
Spotrac is saying that Edmunds is currently valued at $13.8MM, His 5th year option is $12.716MM. He is the third highest paid ILB after the oft injured CJ Mosley, and Deon Jones. Seems like a lot to pay for the 61st ranked ILB. ?Trade him, and go after Bobby Wagner? -
Bills trade 7th rnd pick for backup Case Keenum
BearNorth replied to Hebert19's topic in The Stadium Wall
Being an old guy, I still remember who the Gints had playing QB in Wide Right, Very happy with Keenum in the Qb Room, He also has a history with Diggs. -
Diggs is going to cost more, esp with the insane contract Adams just got. Edmunds is on his 5th year "bargain" first round option, he will want a long term extension, which I'm not seeing a lot of the board would be happy with, He is supposedly the defensive signal caller, so trade comes with risk. Matakevich is JAG, and probably can be replaced, but he's also a backup LB, and Milano has been prone to injury.

bob woods - 6'0 205, Gabe Davis 6'2 220, still on a rookie contract. No thanks.

Help me out, what does the new defense look like?

In the playoffs, Miller had Aaron Donald tying up 2 sometimes 3 blockers, we don't have an Aaron Donald. -
Breaking: Von Miller to bills, 6 year , 120 million
BearNorth replied to BillsMafi$'s topic in The Stadium Wall
People forget that Bruce [GOAT Bills defender] played until he was 40. Miller - Turns 33 next Friday 150 g 116 AV 115.5 sk 27 FF Bruce - played 8 seasons from Age 33 on. 279 g 229 AV 200 sk 43 ff 6 yrs 14.25 sacks per year gets him to 201 -
Mike Shula is considered one of the guru's of the Erhardt-Perkins system, been involved since the very early days.

Cinci is the new model. Their top three WR's caught 222 balls for 3374 yards. our top 3 caught 227 for 2544. Bills need to feel the need for speed. Diggs runs a 4.46, Chase a 4.34. Need a threat to take the top off of the defense, Davis can be our "Big" receiver, but still need someone who runs in the low 4.3's to keep defenses honest.
-
After seeing what the rookie wideouts did last year; this guy with 8 years of wear on him is going to want more than ($20MM) franchise WR money; we are cap strapped, and there are some burners in this draft class. Is he any better than Gabe Davis as our #2?
-
Get Christian McCaffery to be our #1... slot WR...???
BearNorth replied to transplantbillsfan's topic in The Stadium Wall
Many Long Years ago, isn't this what the "WFT" did with Bobby Mitchell? turned a decent running back into a hall of fame receiver? -
Bills ended the season as the #1 team in the NFL based on FPI

Considering we lost to the last place team, which forced us to play at KC instead of the OP. -
Adrian Peterson arrested today; assaulted wife on plane
BearNorth replied to Big Blitz's topic in The Stadium Wall
Ben of course will be in the same class as TB12, so that will give some voters an excuse. -
You forgot, how did we ever lose to the dumpster fire that was the Jags this year, pretty sure that game alone cost us being at home vs. KC in the playoffs.
