  1. Several reasons: 1) I don't enjoy watching the game in the stadium as I end up having to watch at least half on the scoreboard. My HD TV is far superior to the scoreboard and my family room far more comfortable than the seats at the Ralph. 2) I prefer watching with my family and spending several hundred dollars minimum per game is not something I prefer to do. Even if it wasn't a perennially sub-par product. 3) All the TV timeouts are excruciating. I record and automatically strip out commercials then watch during dinner with the family after spending the afternoon doing something other than watching a sporting event. A game in 75-ish minutes is far more reasonable. Those are the main reasons.
  2. According to a Bills post on Facebook a short while ago ... So it looks like us couch-gaters will be watching ****ty internet feeds or watching some other day. The NFL is greedy enough to squeeze every penny out of its fans.
  3. The talking heads disagree with you so far. CBS: All 8 pick the Bungles straight up and 7 out of 8 giving the 7.5 points. ESPN: Hasn't picked yet.
  4. A knee injury will never, ever, be a blessing of any kind.
  5. Only for the remainder of that game. Then it will be Dixon time and Whaley will be busy looking for another PS QB.
  6. Yeah I figure he is next in the QB shuffle for the Bills until Manuel is healthy.
  7. Just got the text, Dixon to the practice squad. If you like "what ifs" how about if Thad the impaler doesn't impress and Manuel is still out, it's Dixons turn next.
  8. I recently saw an interview with Jerrah who is on some NFL committee for this kind of thing. And what he said was that only 8 or 9 percent of football fans who watch on TV have ever set foot inside a NFL stadium, so TV revenue is what the NFL is targeting for increase. They have pretty much maxed out viewership in the US, so they need to grow their TV market elsewhere. Their first target is the UK. I lived in the UK for a year some time ago and there was a little curiosity about tackle football. But I don't know why they expect/hope it to grow in popularity to the point the BBC or some other network would pay the exorbitant fees that US networks pay. But I guess they have to try.
  9. Or what if they pulled elvis out of the stands and he killed it? Or if one of the Jills threw a 50 yard dart to an open receiver during practice? So many possibilities!
  10. No, it would be equally as meaningless but not nearly as funny.
  11. What threat to his job, a practice squad member getting promoted because the #2 had a bad outing and they couldn't sign Freeman? I love all the references to Brady, and "what if" Thad lights it up. This place cracks me up
  12. But they like Lewis less that Tuel. Well, as good a time as any to see what Lewis has.
  13. Not much ... unless they sign Tebow
  14. Unless Freeman plays like the 2nd coming of P. Manning I think you are way off. It would take a huge performance to oust the 1st pick of both Marrone and Whaley and the first QB in the draft when all the "experts" figured Geno should be the first. Taking over for Ponder is the smoothest path to a starting job, and he gets A.P. to boot.
  15. He was trying to slide, albeit too late. I don't have an issue with Alonzo hitting Hoyer. But Alonzo led with the crown of his helmet into Hoyers helmet. It should have been flagged in my opinion, and I would not be surprised if the league took some of his next paycheck for it.
  16. i know what you mean. But they are 2-3 overall with the Pats* at 4-0 and the Phins at 3-1. And maybe more important, the Bills are 0-2 in the division and 1-3 in the conference. And starting what you think is a capable backup for a game or two is what you do when your #1 goes down, not panic shopping. Also, if Marrone thought Tuel was a capable backup before, last night should not have changed his mind so quickly. If Marrone did not think Tuel was an adequate backup that begs the even more disturbing question, why in the world would Marrone and Whaley allow the situation to exist where if their #1 went down they immediately need to go into a panic mode to hire someone off the street.
  17. I'll probably get tarred and feathered for this but ... If they don't see someone they *really* like (i.e not a stop gap) maybe they let Tuel start until Manuel gets back. I have to assume they liked Tuel as a backup before last night. Kicking him to the curb after a bad road game coming in cold and with probably damn few first team reps in weeks seems like an overreaction. Realistically the Bills were probably not making the playoffs this season with or without Manuel. Why not let Tuel start at this point with proper preparation and see what he has. If he sucks, then they know they need a backup QB this off season. If he becomes adequate they can rest easier in the future. What is the point of bring in a stop-gap QB now?
  18. Translation ... "Tuel scared the **** out of me too"
  19. When a team is weak like the Bills have been for more than a decade, then mediocre to good players that may not have had breakout games before have a good chance of doing so against the weak team. It happens so much because the Bills have been a weak team for so long.
  20. Holy crap you are right. CBS: All 8 pick the Browns straight up and 6 out of 8 with the 4.5 spread. ESPN 11 to 1 Browns Geesh, no love indeed!
  21. Yes but it was in an insane blizzard. Or maybe I was insane for being there.
  22. Yup. In a potentially very ugly game he who makes the fewest mistakes wins.
