Ankle would be better than an Achilles or ACL

Elam is going to have to step up, I genuinely hope for the best for Tre maybe it’s not as bad as he thinks. I thought for sure Dane Jackson on that Monday night game would have been out for the season and possibly have his career ended. He only missed a few weeks. That being said it’s most likely a season ender but let’s hope/pray for the best

One more defensive stop and you can go into 4 minute offense
-
Plenty of time for Miami here got to at least hold them to a FG
-
Frustrating to get a field goal there but you gave your defense a rest and got the lead up a little. Bills are going to need to score a TD to really win this game. Can’t settle for any more field goals.

Hoping it is just a cramp, Oliver has been the force he was drafted to be this season. Defense holding Miami to a Field Goal and on a drive chewing up about 6 minutes would be huge.

McD has his players in position and patient. That’s all you can do
-
Great half, defense rocky start but they settled in. Offense has been rolling. Just need to start the second half with a defensive stop!
-
Frustrating they couldn’t cash in but they at least got the 17 point lead with the Bass FG
-
Collision looked bad but hopefully nothing serious

Adam’s with Josh and Diggs would be spectacular but I don’t see it happening as Adam’s is on a huge contract that won’t fit in with the Bills long term cap situation. I think if the Bills go out there and make a WR acquisition it will be a one year rental like a WR on an expiring contract like Mike Evans or Jerry Jeudy.

Big Baller Bass - AFC Special Teams Player of the Month
billsfan89 replied to The Wiz's topic in The Stadium Wall
Generally not disagreeing but there is value in finding starters, role players and specialists up and down drafts. And while the 2020 has not yet produced that “star” player it has at the very least produced good value for the Bills esp factoring in the lack of a first which was used to bring in a star in Diggs. -
I have a feeling McD is going to try something really out there early on to try and stop the Fins. I am thinking they go to a 3-3 alignment using Rapp as the third linebacker and play cover 3. That type of alignment would put a lot of speed at the second level and cover the top level. It would be a combination of what the Pats did with cover 3 but adding a safety down at the second level. I also think Rapp is big enough to help in the run game while covering the middle of the field. Just a random thought based on speculation

I think they should dress Elam, Elam ran a 4.39 40 and has a RAS of 8.63. That's by far the best on the team. I know the game isn't purely going to be decided off of Elam playing but the Bills coaches should have their most athletic fast corner active during a game with a team known for their speed. If the corners are getting burnt at least you have someone to turn to.

If the Bills are going to make a trade for a WR they are going to not include Gabe in the trade. For one you are correct they are going to want Gabe still there as a security blanket in case of a learning curve for a vet WR brought in. Secondly, I think that they are likely hoping to get a comp pick for Gabe if he walks in free agency. So why give him up for some other team to possibly get the comp pick? Right now if Gabe is still up and down the next few weeks and it is impacting the offense massively then I can see a WR trade for Jerry Jeudy or Mike Evans one year rental type trade.

Week 4, Fish v. Bills - Predict the Score
billsfan89 replied to newcam2012's topic in The Stadium Wall
Bills 35 Miami 31, this has the feel of last team with the ball wins type shoot out, although I would prefer a blowout Bills victory that's not likely. -
I think by the end of the next 3-4 weeks we will know if Gabe is up to it consistently or is he more of a WR3/4 supplemental deep threat kind of player? He had a great game against the Raiders and looked very similar to last season against the Commanders and Jets. Small sample size so let's see more of him before the Bills go out and make a trade for a WR.

Big Baller Bass - AFC Special Teams Player of the Month
billsfan89 replied to The Wiz's topic in The Stadium Wall
The 2020 draft is actually looking like a solid draft esp factoring in the lack of a first which was traded for Diggs. Bass has locked down the kicker position, Gabe Davis is a good find at WR (even if he may or may not be a true WR2 he is still a good player to have in the WR room), Dane Jackson is a startable corner in this system and AJE last season was a quality rotational DE last season is having a better year this year. Even Moss and Hodgins are somewhat catching on elsewhere showing that the class was really talented. The only outright bust was Fromm who was a shot in the dark mid-round QB selection. -
Of course, he is going to take some hits, even Brady behind some amazing offensive lines with as quick of a release as you can get and a mind that processed the game as fast if not faster than anyone took hits. But the offense is designed to limit the hits by just making everything 1-2 quick reads and then throwing the ball away. The fewer hits you take the less of a chance you have to get hurt. Will that less hits equals more healthy approach work? It's really the only choice they have at this point. The injury risk to Tua and their RB's (particularly Mostert) is the most concerning injury issue on their offense. The other thing that is a risk to their season is their defense. Shootouts in the NFL are 50/50 affairs. That Chargers game could have gone either way for example. If they end up trying to win a lot of shootouts they will drop some games. I think we will know exactly how good or bad they are after Sunday. The Bills are a legit good team and I think McD is one of the best defensive coaches in the league with a talented squad. If the Fins can put up a big number they will have proven they are at least when healthy among the best offenses in the league. If they struggle or look more human like they did against the Pats then we have a different story.
-
I think Miami has basically built an offense around avoiding Tua getting hurt. Just one to two quick reads is all that he does before getting rid of the ball. Will it work for the rest of the season esp as teams get more and more tape on it? We will have to see. My other thing with Miami is on the injury front is Mostert Mostert is the epitome of great when plays but is always hurt. He is 31 and has had 3-4 serious injuries during his career. Likely because of how fast he plays at RB it makes him susceptible to injuries. The Fins did a good job last year at keeping him mostly healthy in a reserve role but those fast RB's are a ticking time bomb when it comes to injury even more so than "normal" RB's who are already at a high risk for injury. Can you build that high speed high-collision team and not get guys hurt? San Fran plays a more power-oriented offense with bigger guys not speed players (and even the 49ers have had trouble keeping Kittle and their RB's healthy at times) whereas Miami is mostly speed with their two WR's and two RB's. Likely you can keep the WR's more healthy but those RB's are eventually going to take high speed hits.

A loss to Miami would effectively put the Bills 3 games back of Miami. Two games back (4-0 vs. 2-2) plus the Bills likely with a loss to Miami would not have a tiebreaker as Miami is not likely to lose twice to the current Jets squad or NE at home so the division record would likely be 5-1 at worst (if the Bills can win an away game). Now that's not to say that the Bills couldn't win the division being 2-2 while Miami is 4-0, but it would be very hard esp in a likely scenario where the Bills would not hold the tiebreaker. Now even if the Bills don't win the division they can still win the SB coming out of the wildcard but it would just be a lot hard to win 3 road games. Hopefully the Bills come out with a win and set themselves up with a nice quarter of the season at 3-1.

I’m very excited to see how McD handles Miami’s offense. McD is a defensive mastermind in my opinion and he has come up with a lot of creative schemes against hot offenses that have often worked. Just have to wait and see!

Over-reaction Three Weeks In.... Offense seems disjointed
billsfan89 replied to Billsfan1972's topic in The Stadium Wall
The Bills scored on all but 3 drives. The offense largely in the red zone played very conservatively because they knew how much the defense was dominating. They knew that field goals would build a big enough lead so why take risks? That's playing complementary football to supplement a defense that is playing well. Next week the Bills offense will likely need to play pedal to the metal so we shall see.
