  1. He might not get the amount of carries needed to be a top fantasy numbers guy if Shady stays healthy but 7-9 TD's with 700ish yards along with 30 receptions seems like a good estimate. Health is a concern as always.
  2. If he comes cheap it would be nice to add some depth who knows the system. But if the cost is a bit steep then move on. I think he is nothing more than a decent backup. But given the fact that he knows the type of system Rex runs he could prove to be a useful backup.
  3. If the team can manage to resign Cog and find a decent CB and maybe decent depth player in the front seven then I will be happy with what they did in free agency. If they have an impact draft finding a pass rusher and a linebacker or O-line then there just might be some hope for the team. I will agree that their options to improve the team via free agency are limited. But they do have enough room to resign Cog and to make some more modest moves that could fill a few holes.
  4. You could see it coming. Mario had a huge cap number to go along with a lack of love for the team (He probably wasn't willing to restructure the deal the way the Bills needed him to) and a drastic lack of production last season. With the Bills huge amounts of guaranteed money paid out this year they needed to work out some cap space and Mario's huge contract simply wasn't tenable. It's better to move on and draft or sign a replacement rather and use the cap space elsewhere. Mario was subpar his first year here clearly recovering from a rash of injuries, he then turned in two seasons where he was a stud along the defensive line and one of the best pass rushers (Who happened to be good against the run) in the league. But last year he just seemed out of it, either not feeling being in Buffalo or not feeling the scheme, or simply being done mentally. I predict he signs a fairly big short term deal with a team and has a couple of more productive seasons. But his time here was just done. It works best for both parties to move on. Change of scheme and scenery will be better for Mario, The cap space and getting rid of a player mentally done with the situation will be good for the Bills.
  5. Won't make much of an impact. Maybe trade ups will happen more.
  6. Brock was a 2nd round pick and projected to be much less of a project than a 6th round pick in Taylor. Also I imagine Peyton Manning to be a much better mentor than Flacco. So I think it's unfair to compare the two. Brock was a much more complete player coming out of college compared to Taylor.
  7. Let's see how the next 6 games play out. If he finishes strong I wouldn't mind bringing him back next season, a lot of his issues seem to be issues that can be corrected with playing time. Of course he has to show that he is deserving of playing time by showing some sort of improvement in the next 6 games. He has been way better than expected, a guy that hasn't played much his pro-career looks like a capable pro-QB (With flaws of course). That's a lot for a guy who hasn't seen the bullets fly so to speak as a pro-QB. If I was assessing this team I would actually give Tyrod another season but if he completely collapses in the next 6 games I would start looking at other options. Keep Tyrod in context, if you were seeing this level of play out of a rookie would you want to give him another season?
  8. Tyrod's stats are impressive. He looks like a starting caliber NFL QB. Now the question is where on the spectrum does he fall? Is he a Fitz type bad starter great backup type QB or is he a franchise guy? Right now we don't know, the only thing we do know is that the team will play him another 8 games to see what he has got.
  9. For sure Rex's defense just doesn't look as good as the previous years defense. However I do think Rex can adjust the defense to work better with the players. He is a very good defensive coach and if he is indeed a defensive guru then after getting half a season under your belt with the team then you better make the needed adjustments to what you are doing.
  10. Good coaching would sit Hughes for a prolonged period of time after he makes a bonehead play. Good coaching would also work with him to keep his mind in check and try to prevent those bonehead plays. But this is the downfall of Rex's coaching. Players are encouraged to play with their emotions. It can result in passionate play but it also can result in a lot of mistakes and penalties. That being said while Hughes hasn't put up huge sack numbers he has at times been a very disruptive player, and at times not made much of an impact. I suspect that his sack numbers will go up soon but if his penalties don't dissappear and he doesn't become more consistent then he will never develop out of what he already is.
  11. 8 more games is a big sample size for Tyrod. If Tyrod shows some improvment as the next 8 games play out then I don't think they will go QB unless a big time prospect falls to their pick (Which with how overdrafted the QB position can be I don't think will happen). O-line or best player avaiable will likely be the best way to go. However it's still possible Tyrod flounders in the last 8 games, so of course you have to wait and see how he plays in the second half of the season.
  12. Free Online stream? Eh I won't be up early enough as I have plans tonight and I will likely be out late. Hope McCoy goes off and the Bills win. Allen Robinson gets a garbage time TD and a lot of cheap receptions when the game is out of reach.
  13. EJ is a competent backup. He has accuracy issues despite a pretty good arm, mobility, and size. He likely won't get the playing time needed to improve his decision making and accuracy isn't something that can be that dramatically improved. EJ has a career as a back up QB he can play conservative if needed and has some solid tools. But overall I think he just never had the accuracy needed to be a QB at the pro-level. Tyrod on the other hand I think can be an NFL QB if given an O-line and the weapons stay healthy.
  14. It could be true, it could not be. One thing is for sure unless he claims to have sources inside the Bills traning staff he is simply doing guess work. Seems like they have been pretty cautious with McCoy and Watkins. A.Williams is the only one you could second guess on the surface but then again who knew the extent of the injury. It just reeks of speculation.
  15. It might not be on display, it might just be something they preserve and bring out later on in some sort of display if something relevant pops up (Like inducting a running QB to the hall or something).
  16. It is awful that Tyrod got hurt. But I am confident in EJ to play well enough to give the defense a chance to win the game. Hopefully Sammy and Karlos can come back and give EJ some tools to help out the offense.
  17. Contenders is a relative term. Are the Bills Super Bowl Contenders? I would say unlikely. But can this team make the playoffs? For sure this team can contend for a wildcard spot. Tyrod is a young progressing QB and the jury is still out on him. The defense is legit and if healthy the offense has play makers at the skill positions.
  18. I know in the NBA they give each offical a score card and analysis of how the refs preform after each game on a call by call and non-call basis. If the refs get too many failing grades they get put on lesser assignments and then if they keep failing they can be fired. I would imagine the NFL does the same thing where they grade the officals based off of each game. But no offical is going to get every call right at game speed. It's kind of an impossible task really.
  19. The entire defense really had an excellent game, they were hung out to dry in the first half and only yielded a field goal. The only TD the defense gave up was off a turnover that gave them a short field. Tyrod gets the game ball on the offense.
  20. An O-line that isn't the best and missing 3 of your top 5 playmakers on offense yet Tyrod made huge plays to get this team enough offense (Which wasn't a lot of offense due to a good defensive effort) to win the game. Overall I was impressed with Taylor knowing the game was winable and knowing that he had to make the plays himself. This game feels like the type of game the Bills would have lost to teams in years past. Ugly win but they all count.
  21. This game was an ugly win. But good teams gut out these types of wins. These types of wins are often what separates 10-6 teams from 7-9 teams. Without Shady and Karlos and Sammy you knew the offense was going to struggle, the defense played a good game but when the offense leaves you completely exposed it is not always going to be good for any defense. The D gave up two sustained long drives for field goals and a TD on a short field via turn over, a very good effort esp if you consider that they were just constantly on the field in the first half with short fields for the offense. The offense looked horrendous in the first half. But in the second half Tyrod won the game with his legs and then a great throw on the last TD drive. It gives you a lot of faith in Taylor that he doesn't always look to run but when teams sleep on him running he will turn to it if nothing else is working. The team needs Sammy and Karlos to get back asap. Also this game showed how limited the O-line is not a good sign.
  22. The D was very good, a little bend don't break in the first half but they constantly kept them from scoring only yielding the one field goal. The second half they gave up the lone TD on a short field and a field goal on a long drive. But the Defense kept the team in the game making the big plays. They got the turn over on the last drive but they also stood fairly strong esp when you consider how the offense was doing zero in the first half.
  23. Unless they meant that Gregg Williams had someone in on closed sessions like a low level player or mid level attendant then I don't see where the scandal is. Unless there is a more shady level of detail like actually having someone on the dole deep in each team I don't see this as being a huge deal.
  24. The comparison from football to Rugby and the idea that removing the helmet and most pads would remove a lot of the violent colisions from the game is not a good line of thinking. First off Football is a very territorial game Rugby is not. Rugby players are not diving for inches to make a first down, there isn't as much a need to sell out ones body when you only have several downs to cover the whole field. Football every inch matters when players need to desperately reach a marker they will sell out their bodies. Also there are many colisions with the ground and in pile ups and elsewhere where players in football are having their heads hit in an unintended manner. So if you got rid of the helmet and most pads you would end up making football a slower much less interesting version of rugby that wouldn't be very reflective of the game it is today. There isn't a solution to remove concussions from the game. But padding on the outside of helmets could do some help in reducing the amount and pouring money into treatments for post career head trauma would also help a lot of players with their post career lives (As well as funding their treatments better). If we are going to enjoy men destroying their bodies for the sake of a game then we should at least make sure there is the money coming in to help take care of them.
  25. The Mets built the team right. When Sandy Alderson took over in 2010 he had a philsophy to build the team around young pitching and getting rid of their bad contracts and trading away their existing good veterans for prospect (With David Wright being an exception). Alderson also let Jose Reyes walk which saddled the Mets with one less bad long term contract and got them draft picks. Each off-season when the Mets wouldn't sign or trade for big contracts Sandy would get a lot of heat. A lot of the trades they made were criticized as cheap. But they got a top pitcher and catching prospect for RA Dickey, they got a stud pitcher for Beltran, and draft picks for Reyes and not being saddled with that contract. They never took on big contracts, they just kept drafting players and developing the young pitching. Two years ago as it was clear they were loaded with pitching they shifted their resources to getting more position players. So over the past 5 years a young core assembled and this season they made the big veteran trades to supplement a rising team that was ready to win. Hopefully with a low payroll they keep Cespedes and grab another bat along with keeping the core of the team. Its been fun to see the team slowly rise with players drafted or developed organically in the organization. They have a great young pitching staff, a very good young closer, a good lineup with some young players and good position players in the minors and their payroll is low with no long term commitments outside of David Wright. Hopefully this results in a long window to win for the Mets.
