Darby and Gilmore Holding It Down on the Corner
billsfan89 replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I am hoping that once McKelvin comes back he can provide a shut down slot guy. The Pats* and Giants reallly hit the team hard in the slot. McKelvin in 2013 under Pettine really turned his career around playing in the slot. If Rex can turn him into that kind of corner again then teams will have a much harder time attacking the slot against the secondary. -
Tyrod = Jeff Blake v. 2.0 (or who do you say?)
billsfan89 replied to The Frankish Reich's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Tyrod is athletic like Vick (Although I think Vick was a bit faster) but Tyrod throws better and plays more like a pocket passer that can run as opposed to a running quarterback. So while Tyrod's athletic ability may be similar to Vick in a sense, his play style differs vastly. I think his playstyle reminds me of Dante Culpepper (A QB that can run but plays more so in the pocket). But Culpepper's athletic ability was vastly different (Culpepper was much bigger, had a cannon arm, and was a bit slower). So I would say that there really isn't a direct comparison. Tyrod doesn't play like any single QB, he plays like a combo of various other QB's. Either way he has been more impressive than I have thought but still needs to work on his game and get more comfortable in the offense. -
One Fan had a Mysterious "White Powder" at the Ralph
billsfan89 replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
To be fair I am sure at every NFL game (Or any random sampling of 70-100 thousand people) you can find people doing horrible/weird ****. But for whatever reason the Bills have caught on with Deadspin's staff and Bills fans or people at the games have been sending them a lot of good funny photos/videos. It is funny, I take it as a backwards sign of endearment. -
To be honest I don't have an issue with a non-call there. Yes by the letter of the law the Lions got screwed. But the Seattle player didn't really need to bat the ball there. He didn't have a Lions player breathing down on him there he could have easily just grabbed the ball up. So the bat wasn't a player trying to keep the ball away from an opposing player right there. It was more just a bone headed play that didn't get called. Would I be pissed if I was a Lions fan? Yes. But as a football fan the context of the situation doesn't violate the spirit of the law. So my outrage for this situation is limited. There have been way worse blown calls in the history of the NFL.

A day later, Rex changes tune on approach to penalties
billsfan89 replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Ryan is an emotional guy. You see that his teams play that way. It has its draw backs and its benefits. I hope Rex learns to have his teams play with a level head. -
Would you trade for Alshon Jeffrey?
billsfan89 replied to John from Riverside's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I would trade Woods and a conditional 5th. Sammy and Jeffery would both be commanding outside receivers (Not to mention Jeffery would be a bigger target the team does not have). The Bears would get a mid round pick plus a talented young receiver who remains cheap for next year and can work in the offensive system the remainder of this year. If the team had Jeffery they wouldn't need Woods as Sammy and Harvin would occupy the other two receiver spots and Hogan would provide depth. -
Cog and Miller are worth keeping both as they are solid. Glenn is worth keeping if at the right price and depending on how strong he finishes the season. I agree that with Wood the team needs a stronger center and he has a big cap number which makes him expendable. As far as Henderson I say the jury is still out if he progresses back end of the season then no reason to not try and develop him more. Kujo is a solid back up and worth keeping on the roster next season (Cheap and can develop). Maybe draft a LT round 1 and a C round 2. Resign Glenn but move him to RT and resign InCog. To help pay for Glenn and InCog resigning you can get rid of Wood which won't cover the cost of both but will help. Glenn might not be a great LT but he would be a mauler on the right side, only question is how expensive would it be to get him a deal that pays him what he wants and makes a move to RT not seem like a downgrade. Don't think they could resign Glenn and move him to RT but it would be a nice unique move.

Robert Woods Fumble - no forward progress?
billsfan89 replied to Bills!Win!'s topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
That's one of those things where Woods stayed up just enough to keep the play alive. They could have blown the whistle but they were indeed right not to. Good effort by Woods but a dumb effort as he should have known to go out of bounds or go down. He had the first. It was another play that killed the Bills chances late. -
Tyrod was playing without Sammy and Shady. I think that had an impact. But it is clear that Tyrod still needs to add more polish to his game, still optimistic about his development but the offense needs to function better and he is a part of it.

Luke Keuchly Out vs. Bucs w/Concussion, 3 Weeks Now
billsfan89 replied to boyst's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think they are trying to prevent him from being Dan Morgan 2.0 by giving him the time off after a concussion. Hopefully the kid gloves work. But if you are a player that plays in a manner conducive to concussions then it just might be a matter of time. -
How Do We Convince Roman To Stay?

Just worry about this season. -
Tyrod Taylor- The Sitting a QB Approach
billsfan89 replied to JPLoserman's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I still want to see how the rest of the season plays out for Tyrod before he is declared the answer. Good tools and good results but too small a sample size. -
Seems like Nix did a good job in turning around the drafting of the team. Outside of the Spiller draft in 2010 (which wasn't fully prepared by him) Buddy's drafts from 2011 to 2013 added a lot of solid talent to the team. Gilmore, Aaron Williams, Dareus, Glenn, Kiko, Searcy, Bradham, and Robert Woods were all added during Nix's drafts from 2011 to 2013. Of course there were busts like the 2010 class (which wasn't prepared by him) and EJ but after Nix got here the teams drafting improved greatly.

Darby named NFL Defensive Rookie of the Month!
billsfan89 replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
And Miller has come in and played solid like a 2nd round pick and Karlos has filled a nice role on the team too. -
9-29: Tyrod Calls in to The Rich Eisen Show

Long season and the three defenses Tyrod faced weren't world beaters. Good to play well against any NFL defenses. But context to 3 games needs to be applied.

Spiller M.I.A. in New Orleans
billsfan89 replied to BuffaloBill's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I still think Spiller will pop off 2-3 big games with the Saints this year. He seems to be a perfect weapon in that offense with his skill-set. -
How did NE figure out our offense so quick?
billsfan89 replied to PortlandiaEast's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The Pats* attacked the run game and made Tyrod beat them. The Pats* also won the one on one matchups with their pass rushers and seemingly threw in some blitzes to keep the pressure on. So you had a offense that was not able to run the ball and a QB that was consistently under pressure. Just not a good combo. But the Pats* defense didn't adjust or slacked against Taylor and Shady's more spread out run and pass oriented attack. Once the run game got going it opened up the offense and you saw the team give the Pats* a legit scare with the help of the defense creating a turnover. -
He busted up a few plays but yeah he wasn't hugely disruptive. Suh should have had a grade fairly neutral or small positive grade.

BILLS Power Rankings, enter them here...
billsfan89 replied to r00tabaga's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Any ranking should have the Bills between 5-10 this week. Objectively they are a top 10 team. Subjectively is where in the top 10 do you place them. -
If Miller is 100% keep him in there, the starting unit needs to grow and Miller will only stand to improve. I think Miller's play from my uneducated eye has been decent and when Urbik stepped in he looked solid. I say with Miller sit him if he needs a week off, Urbik looks like he could fill in for a game.

[closed]Greg Roman is as good as GONE!
billsfan89 replied to K D's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Lets just see how the year shakes out, 3 games in fairly good results but it's a long season. The circumstances that led to Pettine leaving are unlikely to line up again for Roman but it's still possible. -
The Jets saw Fitz's flaws this week. I still think he is a good QB for the Jets. The Jets have a very good defense and solid special teams, they have enough playmakers on offense to move the ball enough. And Fitz is a QB who can play within a system and get the ball out to his receivers enough. But Fitz will turn the ball over if asked to go out and win a game more often then not. He also will have trouble generating offense unless his skill position players are going hot.

I hope the Bills can keep Percy Harvin
billsfan89 replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Harvin has looked like the weapon he was in Minnesota and in Seattle's playoff run. But he needs to stay healthy. With Harvin the issues were always health and locker room. So far he seems to be doing well in both. If the price was fair I would like to see Harvin stay, been too valuable a weapon. -
Shady Listed as Proable for Sunday vs. Cincinnati
billsfan89 replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
You have to sit him a week or two, even three if that's what it takes. This team has good enough RB options and needs a healthy McCoy later in the season.
