  1. Here are some negatives about him from a pre-draft scouting report. Seems like a very raw prospect in certain areas. Hand span (8 1/4″) raises red flag. Average hand-eye coordination and drops some throws he should catch. Often traps short-to-intermediate throws. Flashes ability to make contested catches underneath and over the middle but lean and needs to get stronger. Above average vertical jump and average arm length yet below average in jump ball situations. Needs to do a better job of adjusting and establishing body position when the ball is in the air.
  2. Coming off of a highly productive year and has had a good amount of production before this season he justified the extension. Tight ends are in demand as having a good tight end has become is pretty fundamental in a modern passing game, combo that with the fact that tightends aren't super easy to find and you get the contracts inflating.
  3. If the Glenn Extension gives the Bills a little wiggle room to work with to try and poach a vet June cut I would rather they go after a traditional NT. The Bills need a NT desperately. Dareus at NT seems like a waste and they don't have anyone on the roster that could fill that role as far as I know. But a vet Guard or Tackle wouldn't be a bad idea either. Either way I hope the front office is on the look out for a vet either at NT or along the O-line.
  4. Good hands and good speed are the two tools that I feel you can't teach at WR, and at 6 feet tall he isn't super small. So I liked the pick from that perspective as I think you can teach him better route running over the next couple of years. I don't expect much from him this year, maybe they try to run some sets to get him out in some space or throw a bomb to him a few times. But I doubt he contributes much this year. But maybe after a full off-season and rookie year he goes into 2017 a bit more polished and then real progression begins to happen. It's really the type of player you should take in round 6, 2-3 great tools you can't teach but will need a lot of raw development time.
  5. Hopefully they can grab a space eater in the 4th or 5th. Maybe they feel like they can nab a vet NT as Rex's NT's have never been high up picks. Seems like Adolphus is a long term replacement for Kyle. Don't love the pick, don't hate it. Good to see that they are loading up on front 7 talent. In the past 4-5 drafts the front office seems to be in tune with what the needs on the roster are.
  6. That's kind of my view, Ragland fits the need for an early down run stuffing MLB who can play with some versatility. A bit of a high price to pay for a type of player the team needed.
  7. The more I think about it the Bills go WR with their 2nd round pick. The Bills have 4 massive needs after Lawson being drafted. RT, MLB. NT, and WR. MLB probably being the least urgent and a position I think they address in round 3 given their draft history at that position. So that leaves RT, NT, and WR as targets for the second round. I think they would be most comfortable with what they have on the roster at RT maybe deciding to bring in a tackle in round 4 or 5. So when you look at NT and WR, Rex's teams traditionally have found late round or cheap vets to play the space eater NT position. So that leaves WR as a position they likely look to target if the right player falls. That's my logic at least. But if I were drafting I would like to see a true NT type if one is available. The defense desperately needs one and with Lawson added to the line it could fill one last gaping hole in the front 7 esp if a depth MLB is added and Kyle Williams stays healthy.
  8. I see the Bills going one of three ways in round 2, RT, WR, or NT/DT. I think all three are valid needs so it will be interesting to see where they feel they can go. I think the team likely feels more confident in the options at RT than at NT or WR. But Rex always seems to find space eater NT's on the cheap. So I see the Bills going WR round 2, then they go MLB round 3 and depth needs the rest of the way.
  9. WR, NT/DT, or RT would be the positions I would like to see targeted. MLB's can be found in round 3 as I would feel confident in grabbing one there and platooning with what is on the roster. Finding a backup safety can also be picked up in round 4. If the Bills struck big On Shaq at OLB and can find a solid starter at either WR, NT/DT, or RT and find a depth piece or two in the mid rounds then the team has a real chance to make the playoffs. But that's a lot of ifs, so much riding on this draft for the upcoming season.
  10. Position wise the Bills got the "Type" Of player they needed, but the shoulder injury is a huge concern. I like the pick but as always it is wait and see. Pass rush for now has been upgraded plenty of ways they can go tomorrow in round 2.
  11. I see the Bills either going DT or pass rusher. But if they go offense I see it being a WR. They need some more punch on the outside and it's honestly the best position to go if they go offense (RT could be nabbed in round 2 or 3).
  12. Pick 19 should be best player available at a position of need. WR, RT, OLB/pass rusher, DT, or NT would all make fine selections at pick 19. WR and OLB/Pass Rusher would be the best picks position wise. But whatever player the Bills take at pick 19 they need to make sure that the player they get makes an impact right away. The Bills need to find 2 starters in this draft along with another contributor. So I have no issue with the Bills taking a WR at pick 19 if they manage to get one of the better receivers in the draft. I think the Bills scoop up a MLB in round 3 to pair with Brown or add depth, which would leave the first two rounds open to take the best players available at several positions of need. And then use the 4th and 5th round picks to sure up some depth along the roster.
  13. Every team passed on Brady 5 times including the Pats*. Can't cry over spilt milk.
  14. The past 20 years I wouldn't argue, the Bills drafting from 1996 to 2010 was pretty horrid with few exceptions. But that's kind of misleading since the Bills drafting since 2011 has improved tremendously. 2011 draft produced Dareus and Aaron Williams two highly productive starters, they also found a mid round gem in Searcy and a solid backup in Hairston. 2012 produced two highly productive starters in Gilmore and Glenn and some mid round gems in Bradham and Brooks. 2013 was the worst draft in the past 5 but still produced Kiko who gave a great rookie year and was traded for a productive player in McCoy, Manuel was a bust but Woods has proven to be productive in his role. 2014 Watkins looks like a stud that at least paid dividends on his high cost, Cyrus looks like a bust but Preston Brown looks like he could be productive and Henderson could develop into a late round starter. 2015 Darby who looks like a stud, Miller looks like he could be a cog on the O-line and Karlos Williams could be a mid round steal. Since 2011 the drafts have consistently produced quality players with 2013 being the only completely weak draft. Overall I think using 20 years when almost all those regimes have completely turned over since then.
  15. The trade downs seem to work for every team except the Browns. I am pretty sure the Browns would like to have Sammy Watkins and Julio Jones instead of the players they drafted with those trade downs. So while I think the Eagles gave up a solid price for pick 2 it's not as though they completely !@#$ed themselves that much. This year they lose a 3rd and 4th, next year they give up their 1st, and the year after a 2nd. That's not a complete bankrupting of picks for that trade up and the Eagles desperately need a QB. While the Browns still get to pick at slot number 8 and they get 2 good picks later in the draft at pick 77 and 100, then they set themselves up with an extra 1st next year and an extra 2nd the year after. For a team looking to rebuild they get quantity this year and quality the two years after that should set them up nice for the long haul while still getting a good player this year.
  16. Could likely be an experiment they do during camp, kick the tires on him at the position and then see what happens. I doubt they will be counting on him in any significant way.
  17. I think it's more so due diligence than anything else. Seeing what that pick is going for and actually trading for it are two different things. Also this is just a report who knows if this is actually true or not. I wouldn't like the move as I like to give Tyrod the reigns for another season and see if he can be the guy and then invest those picks to sure up other areas of the roster.
  18. A fall back option but I suspect that in rounds 3 or 4 a depth MLB gets brought in to compete with Brown. For one even if they feel confident with Brown there is zero depth at that position, and two I would think that their confidence in Brown is more so as a stop gap, so they will likely want someone they draft to come in and take his job, even if it's more so a mid round player.
  19. He will get a nice contract from a team looking for a backup QB or a QB competition. He showed some flashes last year and got some starts with Cleveland plus the league always seems to love Brady backups. Maybe the Jets kick the tires on him if he comes significantly cheaper than Fitz. Either way shocked that the Texans released him since they don't have a great backup to Brock (Tom Savage will slide into their current backup depth chart). But maybe Hoyer asked for a release, wanting a chance to start somewhere?
  20. WR is a need for sure but I would rank front 7 as a much bigger need. Overall I wouldn't mind seeing WR but If it's between WR and a pass rusher I would rather the team go with the pass rusher. But if there are no good pass rushers at that slot it would be a smart move to look at taking a WR at pick 19.
  21. Maybe they happen to think that the kid from California is the better player? Either way for them to unload most of their best picks in 2 drafts for a player they must really believe in him. I agree that you can't make it a factor in who you pick but maybe it just lined up that way for them.
  22. A sensible trade for both parties. The Rams have a solid team with no QB. They needed to take a chance on finding a great QB and what they gave up was a pretty big haul but it wasn't a tragic haul like the RGIII trade where the Skins !@#$ed themselves over for 3 drafts. The Rams had extra picks from the Bradford trade and then sold out their next draft. Not exactly !@#$ing themselves over completely. Pick 15 2 mid 2nd rounder A swap of a 4th rounder to 3rd round 1st and 3rd next year The Titans threw in a 6th rounder this year but that haul was pretty good for a team looking to rebuild. They set themselves up pretty solid for the next two drafts. They have 3 2nd round picks plus pick 15 and a couple of 3rd rounders. Throw in 2 1st and 3rds next year and it seems like a good deal for a team set with a QB.
  23. Bills need to find a couple of starters in this draft. It would be hard to trade up in a significant manner considering there are multiple needs that need to be filled. I also don't see a great talent worth trading up for that could possibly fall to a point where a trade up would be sensible.
  24. The NFL reflecting the real world economy. It seems like teams feel as though depth players are much more interchangeable and are more available on the market. And that the money used on more middle of the road players is better funneled into more high end players who are harder to find on the market. Think about how many players the Bills have signed for fairly cheap that were graded out to be decent middle of the road players and they were had for fairly cheap. So it's not a shock that teams are spending less on the middle of their roster and funneling that more towards keeping top talent. I suspect that the players union will be looking to increase the minimum salary to try and redistribute the money more towards the lower and middle end players who make up a majority of their membership.
  25. Gilmore is already a really good corner, hopefully he polishes up his game fitting within Rex's system. Darby had a very impressive rookie year and if Darby can take that leap year 2 we will have a very good corner tandem. Robey is also a solid underrated nickel corner along the good amount of options the team has in Mario Butler who showed flashes and the two vet corners the team already brought in.
