There is a major difference between trying to give people accurate information and being in a state of complete denial. The man was telling everyone this was nothing to worry about for many weeks, he has one third of this country in his cult of personality and they thought the virus was just a media smear of him. I think Trump crafting a narrative that this was fine and nothing to worry about (in an attempt to cover the stock market) is what created a lot of the bad response.

No but they created a response to the virus that was dismissive and slow to act that could have potentially caused more damage than there needed to be. If you think the response of denial denial denial was great then you are just working backwards from your conclusion that Trump is great and everything negative is always someone elses fault or their was nothing he could do.

I will mark down your prediction but a flu that you don't that you have and are communicable for many days is very concerning as it could have a huge infection rate far greater than a normal flu and even if it is only 50% more deadly (and I have seen rates ranging for morbidity rates from 1-3% compared to .1% for the regular flu) than a normal flu could still easily result in millions of deaths and a huge taxing burden on healthcare systems.

Year 1 They got great value for the often injured and somewhat malcontent duo of Darby and Watkins, drafted 3 starters (White, Dawkins, and Milano), signed Hyde, Poyer, and Haush, all while getting the team back to the playoffs and completely changing the perception of the team. The only bad mistake they made was the KB trade which was the right move philosophy wise (Adding a WR to a team off to a hot start) but just didn't come with the right player. Year 2 They properly assesses the need for a continuing of a rebuild, getting excellent value for Tyrod and Cordy Glenn, while getting a young QB to try and build around while drafting 3 additional defensive starters (Edumonds, Phillips, and T.Johnson.) The team uses 2018 to put into place key young players at critical positions while getting the team out of a bad cap situation. The only major mistake (I would qualify the Murphy and Star signings as smaller mistakes) was the completely crap handling of the QB situation in front of Josh. Just a tragic mistake. Year 3 The first off-season with meaningful cap space and they knock it out of the park. Completely rebuild the O-line with only one major acquisition (Mitch) with the rest of the starters coming from either a draft pick (Cody) or mid-level to lower level acquisitions. The WR core which had zero talent was given a great boost with the Brown and Beasley acquisitions which didn't break the bank. The draft added good talent to both lines (Ed Oliver and Cody) while adding a quality young RB and some tight ends with potential. In 3 years McBeane has made the playoffs twice, they have a young QB in place with 2 years and a 5th year option on his deal, a ton of cap space to supplement a 10 win team (that easily could have been an 11 game team had that 11th win meant anything) and a lot of other young talent on the roster while having all of their own future picks going forward. Have they been perfect? No but no regime is, overall I don't see how you can't give them a 90 or above.

I don't think they have to delay the start of the year. Most of what the NFL's early off-season will be can be done either with no crowd (draft) or with little travel/contact. Contracts can be negotiated over the phone and signed by fax. Pre-Draft workouts can be taped and sent out via private links and pre-draft interviews can be done over Skype. I always think there should be a use of caution when it comes to public health however I don't think the NFL Off-season needs such a high degree of caution. I think they could do all of this in a safe manner.

Netflix and the NFL off-season will fill in the gap. Honestly March is kind of a dead time for sports for me personally. I am not a big NCAA basketball fan and unless the NHL or NBA team I like is pushing for a playoff spot the end of those seasons is kind of OK but not must see TV. Spring training baseball isn't that great either (I don't start getting into baseball until June once the playoffs for the NBA and NHL end.) Honestly the XFL was probably the thing I was looking forward to most just to see how the league plays out. But if this moratorium on sports pushes well into April or beyond then things will be very interesting as this will throw a lot of things out of whack. Overall though it is better they suspend silly sports events for even a few months rather than risk people's lives. It is just interesting to see how this impacts this one particular part of culture.

Clay was a top 10 tight end for 2 or 3 seasons depending on what measure you go by. He was just dramatically overpaid as his TE salary was top 5 in the league for the first 3 years of his contract and then top 7 in the last year of his contract and gave the team a 4.5 million dollar dead cap hit last season. I think Clay and Star kind of fit the same mold of player who was productive enough to garner a starting position but never justified their high salary. The team hasn't had too many high profile free agent busts since 2015. Clay and Star are your worst examples but they were both starters for several years performing a role that was of value. I think Vonta Davis is probably the team's worst signing as he returned 0 value on his deal and embarrassed the team.

Hypothetically IF the team resigns Spain what more does the team need to do for the O-line? This is a serious question. If the team retains Spain they bring back the starting O-line from last year Dawkins-Spain-Mitch-Feliciano-Ford and they have Ty, Long, and Bates off the bench. Other than a 9th O-line player for depth and a 10th for camp competition what could this team do if they retain their only free agent along the O-line. Granted I wouldn't mind seeing this team bring back Waddle and draft a O-line player late to foster some competition along the lines and add some more depth. BUT I don't know starting wise if this team isn't more than 1 player away from fielding a good O-line. If they feel that Spain and continuity is good at LG then I trust Beane. IF they feel Cody needs to kick in then they should go after a RT obviously. But there is only one major piece and some depth that needs to be added here and that one major piece could simply be resining a starter from last year.

To an extent this makes sense but the formula is complete ass.

Love them keeping Wallace and Long, I don't mind bringing back Foster but he wasn't a make or break.

I think he makes it to 2 seasons if only for Vince's massive ego to improve the fate of the new XFL over the original.

Unfortunate for the league that game ended late on the east coast. It would have been better if that was an earlier game with a wider audience.

I view it similar to the Long deal last offseason a mid level deal on a cut player.

The late game was fun, really love how they get you the chatter between the coaches and players, it really lets you into the game. I know Vince McMahon has the league funded for 3 seasons allegedly so I hope it survives long term because the league is fun just a bit rough around the edges.

Fairly low risk and high reward type deal. He is old for the position but started in the league at age 25 so he is only an 8 year vet which isn't too bad. Hopefully the deal is structured that he could be cut at a minimal cap hit if he acts up or is ineffective.

The Chargers will let Gordon walk but some other team will pay him decent money, just not what he was looking for.

Not sure why they would trade their 2019 first round pick after one year? I also wouldn't be interested in Jeffery. Alshon is a quality player when healthy but he is banged up a lot even if he doesn't miss too many games some years (although he missed 6 last season) he just always is battling chronic injuries that limit his production and he is also on a big contract which just makes giving up even a limited draft choice for him not the best idea.
