No one hurt. It was just before worked stopped for the day. Welding was going on in the area. It was about a third of a mile from first base at the ballpark The area was originally the rail yard for the docks. Recently it was parking lots for AT&T park. About 10 years ago UCSF started building a Biomed campus in the area. They are making the area retail shops on the first floor with condos above. One or two buildings were done and occupied. Before they started on the area, they put in a high pressure system for fire fighting underground. They mayor said that what kept the fire to the one building. An adjacent occupied residential building had about 30 windows broken from the intense heat, but the firemen put a curtain of water on that one to prevent the spread.

I don't know. I heard a local (SF area) garden show and someone was complaining their tulips wouldn't bloom. The host said to put them in the freezer.

I never knew that tulip bulbs had to experience a freeze to bloom. They come poking through the last of the snow in Buffalo. In the flat areas of CA you have to put them in the freezer or they won't bloom.

Where I used to live, it's the opposite of the Buffalo area. Only one RC church and a ton of Protestants. The church was founded by the founders of the city, The first person buried in the cemetery died when fell off the roof or the original church during construction. Some of the descendants of the Donner party are also buried there. Every Friday during Lent and the second Friday of every month, they have an all you can eat fish fry for $5 run by the K of C for the school. It's OK but nothing like the fish fries in WNY. It's the only fish fry available. When I am back visiting, I go to the Town Shanty at Clinton and Harlem (under the billboard) in Cheektowaga for a fish fry to go. For a sit down dinner, I go to the Deerhead Inn on Clinton across from ST. Matthew's Cemetery near Clinton and Old French Road. I tell people to also look for any bar that has a full parking lot after work on Fridays. Those are the ones that usually have a great fish fry.
