The 77 blizzard started a day earlier than usually listed. I was a sophomore at UB and took the bus to UB. We made it to the Amherst campus and the shuttle let us off at the English building. Most of the buildings on the spine weren't open yet. About 10 of us made the hike to the physics building for labs. Got there and about 5 minutes later, got notice that the school was closing and the busses would run for about an hour more. Had to hike through waist deep snow to the Governors dorm to catch the shuttle. When we made it back to Main Street, a friend's father was home and gave us a ride back to Cheektowaga. I remember watching the trucks and bulldozers piling snow on the Golf Course the rest of the winter while waiting for the bus on Bailey.

Definitely he is out of football. I had a congenital condition where the blood vessels in one of my kidneys has twisted or constricted blood vessels. Found out because I stuttered very badly and my parents took me to the Children's Hospital stuttering clinic. They gave me a physical and found my bp was that of a 30 year old (I was 4). The docs said forget about the stuttering , it would go away (it did).They did tests and found the problem. The doctors figured out what was the cause. They tried to repair the cause, but my bp didn't go down. So, a month later, they removed the bad kidney. The doctor told my parents that I would be normal (some people say that's questionable ) and the only things I couldn't do were to play tackle football, hockey and dive from a high board (sports you can injure a kidney). There's no way he would be cleared for football. The only sign of it is a big scar on my back (it was in 1961).

A boss I had was from England He hated their system. If you worked you had to buy your own insurance as well as the using the government system. He had an infected ingrown toenail. The doctor's office said it was a two week wait! He said he had his own insurance. They saw him the next morning.

I had a job in Biotech. They laid about 60 people out of 240 in October. Then that New Years everyone got a 5% raise. One of the guys under me was complaining that it was only 5%. I told him we should be lucky we were still working. On that Valentine's Day, about another 60 of us got laid off.

I am totally against giving any kid a car. My dad said if I wanted a car, I had to pay for it and the insurance. He had great insurance and didn't want his going up. I got my car and license just after the blizzard of 77 just before I was 20. Took the NFTA bus to UB for college.I knew the value of a car when I had to pay for it myself.
