Donald Jones to exit 'John Murphy Show'
vincec replied to ricojes's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This was my impression too. Jones didn't really tow the company line as blindly and faithfully as Murphy does so they occasionally bickered. My favorite was when Jones though Peterman should replace Taylor as the starter (before McDermott actually announced it) and Murphy didn't. Murphy said something like "Do you honestly think that Peterman can do what Taylor does on the field?" and Jones responded "Do I think that he can throw for 165 yards in a game? Yes." lol. It was pretty funny. -

AJ McCarron wins grievance vs Bengals, is UFA
vincec replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Let me put it like this: how many think Andy Dalton is a franchise QB? Well, this guy was his backup and couldn’t move ahead of him on the depth chart. It’s not like he was sitting behind Tom Brady. -
The Top 5 Buffalo Bills Fullbacks Of The Past 30 Years

From a different era where the FB was a primo position and not getting phased out like now. But yeah, they were the best. -
The Irony of Bucky Brooks Ranking NFL Draft Prospects
vincec replied to BuffaloRush's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Actually when you put it that way, it sounds like a perfect fit. Who else would you want to hear from about screwed up coaches that Rex Ryan? If anyone can sees the signs of a future NFL bust then it’s a former bust, right? -
Bills refused to let Shady run out of the gun in 2017
vincec replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
They "adjusted" a lot over the course of the season. That's part of the problem. They weren't running Dennison's offense or Roman's. It was some kind of mutated Frankenstein hybrid. -
This is the reality from perspective too. They’ve had a lot of draft misses, but when you have Brady you win anyway. For example, look at the respective rosters of the Eagles and the Pats. The Eagles have better players at every single position except QB and TE, yet it was a close down to the wire game. That just shows you what having the best QB of all time QB means. The Bills have been the anti-Patriots: bringing in good players at every position except the one that matters most.

That does often play into things. It’s why teams without three timeouts always use their them on first and second down. They bait the offense into throwing a pass on third down to try and pick up the first and win the game. But in this case it was probably about saving a couple of extra seconds as mentioned above.

Todd Haley Headed to the Browns as the New OC
vincec replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It’s just the same guys recycled over and over. -
The answer to the question is yes. The paid articles are listed in the BN website with a football with a star inside. There are still some free articles that don’t have this mark that you can click. For example Luke Hammil’s today. These are hard to find or not linked to TBD. You’d be better off just going to the BN website to browse their articles directly.

What would it (realistically) take to get Alex Smith?
vincec replied to NickelCity's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If you don’t thin that those guts are better than Alex Smith then I think your credibility on this issue just took a large hit. -

Makes no sense now that Dennison is gone, IMO. -
I think you're overrating Alex Smith. Even with the great Andy Reid, passing game guru, as coach this is the only season that the Chiefs have ranked higher than 20th in the league in passing under Smith. They love him so much that they just moved up to draft his replacement and will probably be looking to trade him this off season.
-
I suspect Roman's passing attack would look a lot better if he didn't have Kaepernick and Taylor at QB.
-
Most of his success or failure is going to depend on what the Bills do at QB. In a way I feel bad for these OCs that favor the running game. People bring them in when they have crappy QBs and then blame them when the passing game flounders. Heck, Roman had the #1 running game in the NFL and still got canned.

I understand all of this, but you would assume that there are some qualified candidates who deserve their first or maybe second shot before you hire someone who has been unsuccessful 3 previous times. Could this even happen in the private sector? Would you hire someone for the exact same position that he was fired from for poor performance on 3 previous occasions? You mention Belichick, Levy and Carroll but they were not 3 time NFL HC failures when they were hired. Maybe the fourth time is the charm but it's amazing to me that there isn't another candidate with a better track record to recommend him. It really seems like the major reason he's here is because McDermott knows him, Saban and Belichick like him, etc... old boy network stuff.
-
It’s amazing that he gets a fourth shot at a job that he bombed at the three previous times. it makes you think that people must really see some potential in him. Or it reinforces the “old boy network” theory.

The 70s were a long time ago. Doubt many fans are still carrying a grudge.
